This strategy put huge demand on player. Constantly switching between staying in the zone or man marking. The player needs to think very tactically and stay discipline. That explained why Khedira, Alonso & Lampard did well under him but Pogba is uncomfortable. The current pressing systems aka Klopp or Pep is more simple, follow the ball and pressing with pace. Easier for players to follow. Mou is also a perfectionist therefore he demands a lot from players, often openly criticise them. The strategy and how much stress he puts on his players may be ok with Drogba & Terry but in todays world, I dont think the kind of Pogba & Lingard can handle it for more than 3 seasons.

@Stanislas Houston Patience is the key, you're absolutely right. The thing is that even the most patient team such as Spain will not be patient enough to break such a structure most of the time. Spain vs Russia is a good example .
@Stanislas Houston That game against Russia was abysmal, I was begging for the Russians to eliminate them. Spain need to start playing more vertical and forget about keeping tradition. Even in the Xavi Iniesta era They weren't as dominant as people remember them, because they were lacking a trouble maker player that can unbalance teams (Lionel Messi)
Stanislas Houston didn’t ref give a red card to motta cuz of biscuits dive. Yeah, if there were VAR back then Barça may not be cheated and help by ref in many matches
maybe it was similar to juego de posicion, and rafa benitez zonal marking at liverpool but man utd dosent have a striker like aguero and fernando torres, lukaku dosent transform into drogba, in competition like champions league or league cup, you need score goals to win, in domestic league a draw would be enough, he needs to look into his PC against west ham, which the "BUS" origin was introduced
Jose parked it against a team of kids in Ajax. Can understand pulling the bus out against better teams but don't see why he does it against lesserteams like Sevilla and then leads to a flat performance
Thats generally the problem with park the bus tactics. They sometimes work against good attacking teams (Not even in most cases) but totally fail against other more defensive or balanced teams. See Atletico vs PSV . Atletico needed fucking penalties to get past PSV the same year they reached the CL finals.
The thing that he has been using this from his porto days and still does ...says all about him. Thats easily a span 15-18 yrs and he hasnt changed at all., But sadly football has. He is such a boring predictable Limited one track pony. And the biggest catch here is that football and footballers have evolved. For eg. For his system to succeed he needs a battering physical striker with good holdup play . Drogba, ibra erc. But as i said footballers also evolve with time ..you can see that such mourinho style strikers are a rare commodity now and they have been replaced by strikers like suarez, messi, aguero...a la false 9 , small nippy strikers who interchange, run between the lines ... Because that's the in thing. Imagine your self as a 12-15 yrs old who wants to be a striker ...its obvious you would want to be like the latter. Coming back to muurinho, this explains his recent failures in transfer. He cant get players suitable for his old stuff.
Big strikers can't play in contemporary football? You are delusional. First of, one your examples, Suarez, is fairly tall (182cm or 6ft)Secondly France won th WC because, not in spite of Giroud, a classic big target forward. The game has evolved and target men are not what they used to be is true. But to say that they are useless is silly.
So you're saying Drogba, Ibra, Lukaku etc can only play in a Mourinho team? Okay sure. Probably a Man City fan who started watching football from last season.
Mo said (I hope I did not mishear anything): "If you want to press the ball all the time, you don’t play short. If you are dominant in the air, you build long. There are many poets in football but poets don’t win titles." - What does it mean, especially the first 2 sentences? Thank you!
Dumb comment. You don't really pay attention. Mourinho holds the record for most goals scored in a La Liga season. Even Messi Suarez and Neymar could not beat that. So much for park the bus. As a Man United fan, we have had 26 shots in a match without scoring. Our team is that bad
The worst most outdated tactic ever. Park the Bus is dead! Tiki Taka is the real deal and so is high pressing football because of Liverpool who play high pressing.
"Poets" - he means that there are many managers/coaches that have a very idealistic view of football and they try to make it happen on the pitch. But beautiful doesn't always equal best. Mourinho opposes this view of things and takes a pragmatic approach to football: he wants to get from A to B in the simplest, most effective manner, and isn't concerned about taking the scenic route and making things look beautiful with often needless and ineffective style. You could have a Barca type team play 26 quick passes in a little zone in midfield. It looks nice with lots of quick passes and movement, but it doesn't hurt anyone. Or you could have a player play a direct pass behind opponents midfield/defense right into the forwards. Mourinho would always choose the latter because the short, quick passes don't achieve much.
Piotr's analisys are more like a tv commentary of the match, some numbers and a bunch of nice arrows and lines. It's just a personal opinion, but I think that TNM's analisys are far more concrete
