All cities should be doing this. We have to go back to living in harmony with nature, not on top of nature. Our cities could be beautiful places with food trees and bushes everywhere, wildlife, and beauty.... instead of dead concrete hellscapes built for cars.
Cars are one of the most stressful elements of human cities. Anything to limit their access, provide alternatives and stop pouring money into the endless tarmac program is good. Nice video - thanks!
Paris can be a bit drab and grey. I think its a great thing to have more green space and parks. I hope they will do a good job at maintaining the green spaces too. Paris sometimes falls short of this aspect. We will see.
@@hujkbalk3394 indeed. Same with the 15ème, 16ème (of course) - the worst in Paris for cycling, the 7ème and the 8ème. Interesting to see the difference between the different arrondissements!
If only Berlin could have a development like this, but with our conservative m0nk3ys in the city council Berlin is actually regressing into an even more car centric city. There were plans to build 10 fast bike lanes. So how many will be built. One. One, if at all. That's the problem if your government has a hard-on on the car industry
Paris is a nightmare for its inhabitants. What they show you is superficial, as they don't want to create more gardens. They put trees in squares and roads, but it won't solve the main problem of the city's densification. For the last twenty years, they have built new high-rise buildings everywhere instead of creating new gardens.
Petit à petit la voiture sera limite à Paris. Il y aura plus de verdure une recherche esthétique qui va avec cette ville. Il y a beaucoup à faire encore.
For decades, they have destroyed squares, and suddenly they have realized they were wrong...but they are still building everywhere despite the fact that Paris is the most densely populated city in Europe.
no one is perfect and the most important thing is that they (the mayor of paris and the staff etc ..) have now understood the importance of changing the city to adapt it to the future
I wouldn't had used the word forest for some trees in a city. But a city in China had planted a lot of trees and managed to reduce the average temperature, so good idea. Never too late, but Paris is a bit late in the game of undoing the mistakes of car-focuses adaptations. Many european cities have already started this and have made huge progress in removing cars from the center.
While I agree ten years ago Paris was one of the worst cities in Europe for pedestri ans and bycicles, the speed at which it is changing for such a huge city (over 10M inhabitants in the urban area) is remarquable. It’s still not as good as other cities in the Netherlands or northern Europe, but it’s getting much better at an insane speed.
In the video, he doesn't say that Paris is a paradise, but simply that Paris is in the process of making a lot of changes in terms of cycling infrastructure and greening the city in anticipation of heat rises
And as someone who lives here it’s all right and true!
paris is so cool!!! Thank you for this
It's awesome.
Great job from the city team, even if many people whine about it a lot. This IS the future.
A fantastic video as always, thank you!

nice video. Place de Catalogne is in the 14ème Arrondissement however, not the 17ème. Would love to see more Paris related videos!
Yeah the 17eme si still very carcentric because of the mayor who is right/conservative

Maybe the french car industry is not doing so well and they went "oh well" mode :) :)

@@didier75012Paris aint no nightmare and no that id not true, they created multiple new parcs and gardens across the city in addition to these squares
When I visited Berlin I was shocked at how car-centric a city with such great railways was

A few trees in the middle of concrete don't make a forest...

😂😂 Catalunya has changed (not independent yet). Place de Catalogne had to change! 😂😂
the video is quite ridiculous because it suggests that Everything is a paradise in Paris This is totally false
