Great recipe video and there's nothing better than home made Vegan Mac and Cheese. I like it with either red or green chillies added. I made a version called Hulk Mac and Cheese with spinach but you could substitute with kale or broccoli.
Ok! Made this for dinner last night and it is by far, the creamiest, best tasting plant based mac and cheese we've eaten. And we have tried many! I baked it and also roasted my own red bell pepper because I had no jarred in my pantry. Thank you so much for the video and recipe.
I just started following you. I’m considering going vegan or at least 80 plant based. As well I’m trying to replace my kids and husbands favourite dishes with healthy alternatives. Just made this Mac and cheese and they absolutely loved it even preferred it to traditional Mac and cheese!!! Thank you so much for the recipe and all your posts etc. 🥰
Just wanted to add my thank you to the list. I use several of your recipes, and really appreciate them, and the time you have taken to give them to us.
I love watching your videos. I started my journey about 3 months ago and I enjoy your recipes. I’m in Wheeling WV and would love to start something here for plant based cooking. Just wanted you to know how much you have inspired me 😀
I made this and I faked out my son! He said I finally made something good for dinner. The only thing I did was added one more tablespoon of nut yeast, a dash of red chili flakes, and a dash of Tampatio hot sauce. So yummy!
This really looks like Mac'n'Cheese! I will be adding broccoli or peas & carrots (because that's how I used to eat mac'n'cheese) but I can't wait to try this. It will be perfect for upcoming potlucks this holiday season (if we are allowed to do them...) You're chili idea sounded great, too! That will be a football Sunday crowd-pleaser!
When I hear, "hey guys, it's Britt..." I get excited for yumminess! Thank you so much for all you do. Always thankful for another great recipe from you. =)
Made this tonight. It will now be my go to mac & cheese recipe. So easy! I was worried about adding so much garlic powder, but followed the recipe with great results. Mixed in some cauliflower and broccoli as well.
looks amaze! i have to share a tip i learned about 6 years ago~~ a spoon of vegan lactic acid!! makes any cheese dish over the top!!!! love your videos
I made this using 3T of tapioca instead of 6. I also added 3/4 cup water to thin out a bit and a teasp. of smoked paprika. The sauce thickens after sitting so this worked out to be a good consistency for me. I put panko breadcrumbs on the top and a few of those fried onion things that you make green bean casserole with since I had an open container in my pantry. Not compliant I know but used very few. Baked a 350 covered for 25 minutes and then uncovered for an additional 5 minutes to brown up. Also think I may tone down the garlic and onion powder to 1 T each. Going to make wraps with my mac and cheese with beans and romaine, maybe some barbecue sauce for dipping.
If the mac is going to bake, I drain the macaroni at about 5 minutes cooking time so it doesn't end up too mushy. Al dente' with a nice sauce like this is even better. :)
Britt, I am thoroughly enjoying your channel! I learned recently that I need to stay away from Nightshades (tomatoes, tomatillos, bell peppers, most chili peppers, even white potatoes - I do eat those in small quantities tho!, and the like) due to painful eczema flare-ups, bell peppers kill me and my skin reacts right away. What kind of substitute can I use for the steamed red bell pepper? Maybe 1/2 of a steamed carrot and some ground mustard or mustard powder? I grew up on mac-n-cheese and have been dying to try a good WFPB recipe for it and yours is different than most, so I am excited to try it! Thank you! 😉👍
Do you think you could blend the sauce earlier on in the day and then cook at dinnertime? My toddler is afraid of our blender, so I have to prep everything during her naptime!
Thank you! Maybe you could think about recipes that will get daily greens in. Dr. Greger says 16 oz per day, or 6 fist-size servings. Really hard to do, without being repetitive. Thanks!
I never thought of mac'n'cheese as an entree by itself, more like a side dish. Even though this is healthier than the dairy kind, it is not a full meal. I can see a big bowl of steamed mixed greens with vinegar, some sliced beets, and a scoop of mac'n'cheese (with broccoli florets mixed in) as a perfect big bowl meal.
I love your video formats...My vegan recipe videos on my channel are a bit more ... raw hahah but still delicious. This recipe looks boom! Thanks for sharing it! What editing tool do u use to make the little square w u talking! Thanks!
Thanks, it's nice to have a reliable mac and cheese recipe. Just a hint if you don't have nutritional yeast, stir the miso into the plant milk and leave covered for 4-8 hours and it ferments just enough for a nooch-like flavour. Am now craving Mac n cheese...
Hello there, so I just tried the recipe and it didn't turn out thick for some reason. The only difference was I used the blender that I had which is around $100 or less Ninja blender with one pulse button. So I don't know if a nicer high speed blender makes the difference? My sauce was textured with small chunks of nuts I could see pretty easily. I over heated the sauce in the pan to see if it would thicken and I went like almost 10 min, still watery.
@@timg624 Nope, followed exactly as I mentioned minus the "high speed blender" just looking for confirmation that a nice blender might be a really important part of the recipe.
Made this tonight and sprinkled smoked paprika on top instead of breadcrumbs. We love it!

This is my go to cheese sauce for everything... using it on nachos today. I leave it in the fridge for cheese, say on a sandwich or dip.
So glad you are loving it!! 💕💕💕
Mac & Cheese is such a comfort food. It’s always good as a meal in itself.🌻🧡
That looks SO good!
I made this for dinner last night. Hubby and I loved it. Thank you Brit :)
This is what is for dinner tomorrow! I am thinking of putting some frozen peas in it and sprinkling smoked paprika on top. Thank you Brittney.
Peas are so good in it!! 🥰🥰🥰
Thank you Brittany!!

Thank you! This was such a delicious dinner for us. We will definitely be having it again!!
I made this today, it is delicious! My boys loved it!!!
Thanks so much, this looks so good!😊
Yummm!! I've been looking for a good vegan mac and cheese recipe. Thank you for sharing!!
Yumm! And it looks so much faster/easier than some similar recipes that are made with cooked potatoes and carrots

Yum! Can’t wait to try!
I used the cheese sauce recipe in an enchilada casserole. So so good! It’s my new favored cheese sauce
I liked it as a quest too!
This looks yummy! Love how thick the cheese turned out!!
I loooove mac and cheese!!!. Thanks for this recipe 😋🤗😘
I am just starting to transition the family to a WFPB eating plan, and this will absolutely be a recipe I try very soon.
I just made (and consumed some) this Mac & Cheese. AMAZING! Keep up the great work!!

So happy you liked it! It really is a nice mellow Mac n cheese even with the garlic and onion
can't wait to try this cheese sauce!! thank you!
I have to try this!!
Thank you! Can't wait to try it!

what is vegan lactic acid?
@@gracie97007 hi! it is an acid made from beets, makes the cheese taste "sharp" modern pantry on amazon has it.
I will have to try this on my son. He loves real mac and cheese. would be great if I could get him to eat something like this.
Thank you for sharing, can't wait to try . 😃

Wow looks good just have to get tapioca flour. Thanks

Awesome 👏 video! Can’t wait to try it!!! Love ❤️, love 💕, love 💗 the PDF ingredients that I email to myself!!! Excellent idea!

Al dente' with a nice sauce like this is even better. :)
I am from Windsor Ontario Canada
Another good one!
I'm a huge mac-n-cheese fan too! This looks amazing 🤩. Definitely adding this to my menu👍
Brittany, what type of non dairy milk did you use? thanks
How longer would u think this will stay in the fridge ? As well would it freeze well
I was hoping you would make this ... mmm. On my weekend menu. Thank you, Brittany.

I can't eat bell peppers, either. I plan to just leave it out.
I think u could do steamed carrot or some turmeric
What size casserole pan did you use?
Happy Canadian Thanksgiving on Monday, Oct. 12th! I think I'll add this one to the menu!
Linda Whittington wanting to get this in for that - Happy Thanksgiving 🥰🥰
Linda Whittington thinking of making it too. Did you make it? Thanks
Carolyn Knapp No, we ended up canceling dinner. Hubby got sick ☹️
Brittany, what White Bean do you use in this? What unsweetened unflavored non dairy Milk do you suggest?
This looks so yummy!! Thank you, DeAnn
Those looked like Cannellini (probably spelled that wrong - ha ha).
What milk did you use?
Can you use xanthan gum? I already have that in the cabinet.
Looking forward to trying this.
I just made some vegan mac and cheese yesterday! Love cashews and nutritional yeast cheese! Added cajun to it for it to be spicy!
That is SO creamy! I love Thanksgiving it’s my fav ❤️
O yum! This one would call my name on some of my sleepless nights!
I figured it out thanks...
Oh my gosh!! I can't wait to make this🙂
Do you think you could blend the sauce earlier on in the day and then cook at dinnertime? My toddler is afraid of our blender, so I have to prep everything during her naptime!
Totally should work!
I don't have miso but I have everything else. Do I have to have it??
Nevermind - you answered it in the video
This looks great, i think i will be trying it out sooner than later 🙂

Does this taste anything like mac and cheese?
No it doesnt. I made it and it was so bland. I was so sad. Texture is spot on though
I love your video formats...My vegan recipe videos on my channel are a bit more ... raw hahah but still delicious. This recipe looks boom! Thanks for sharing it! What editing tool do u use to make the little square w u talking! Thanks!
Can you sprinkle with smoked paprika?
Sure thing!!!🥰🥰
Is there a measure for the bell pepper? They're all different sizes in my jar.
Where can I buy non dairy milk from
Hi, John. This just means things like soy milk, almond milk, oat milk...Definitely try to find one without sweeteners.
I think you could use cooked squash instead of the cashews or beans. It has a nice golden colour too!
Thanks, it's nice to have a reliable mac and cheese recipe. Just a hint if you don't have nutritional yeast, stir the miso into the plant milk and leave covered for 4-8 hours and it ferments just enough for a nooch-like flavour. Am now craving Mac n cheese...

Then you missed something or bought a wrong ingredient because the starch thickens it as with the whisking. It definitely works
@@timg624 Nope, followed exactly as I mentioned minus the "high speed blender" just looking for confirmation that a nice blender might be a really important part of the recipe.
I'm going to make it with chopped up red chilli and parsley.
D
Since it is not cheese I am wondering what it tastes like.
I had the same concern. It is not cheese. It has a similar consistency and good flavor.
It was extremely bland sadly
