RECIPE 'FÜRZCHEN'
Ingredients
50g butter
250 ml water
150g gluten free flour
30g corn flour
1tsp baking powder
pinch of salt
6 eggs
Method
Mix the water with the butter and add a pinch of salt. Bring it to the boil.
Remove the pot from the heat and add the flour mixed with the corn flour.
Keep stirring using a wooden spoon until you form a sort of dumpling. Wait a little until the dumpling has cooled down. Add the eggs one after another using dough hooks. Finally add the baking powder. The batter is ready once it's shiny and smooth.
In the meantime heat up some frying oil. Once it's hot enough, use a bit of batter and dip it into the frying oil using 2 spoons. The 'Fürzchen' are done once they rise to the surface and have a lovely golden colour.
Last but not least coat the Fürzchen in some icing sugar and enjoy!

The layering of fabrics, patterns, art, etc. lend an air of je ne chest quoi 😉to an interior. It feels sophisticated, brave, and somewhat rebellious to conventional decorating styles. I also believe it makes interiors more memorable; although one may not remember all the details, the feeling the space gives is never forgotten.
In Holland we call them "oliebollen" I love them!

Love the new decor! In New Orleans, Louisiana, USA, at Cafe du Monde in the French Quarter, they serve Beignets and coffee with chicory. Their beignets remind me of your German treat. The difference seems to be that Cafe du Monde rolls & cuts their dough. They are so yummy! Have fun! God bless

Your English country style home looks simply beautiful, from top to bottom. What a lot of work and expense you both have put into your home. It shows a lot of love and care. My mother used to make something similar. The actual recipe is called Drop Doughnuts, but she came across the recipe around the time Russia launched Sputnik. Since the dough forms all kinds of weird spike-like shapes when you drop them in the oil she called them “ Sputniks” because the satellite had spikes. Gosh, I haven’t made them in years, mainly because the recipe makes too many and the house smells like oil for the rest of the week. But boy, are they good, especially fresh from the fryer!

Our family calls that treat Zeppole. Our Italian grandma made them, my mom did and now I make them. Sometimes instead of sugar we drizzle honey on it.

Awwe ❤️ ... in Portugal we also make those for Christmas !!! We eat them lightly coated with powdered sugar and cinnamon or with a light sugar sirup, flavored with a cinnamon stick and lemon zest! We call them Sonhos, witch means "Dreams", probably because they turn so airy and fluffy. I always make my grandma's recipe ☺️. Your home is turning lovely.

I loved everything you've done ! Joerg's barometer looks very elegant and the ship pictures look perfect with it . I especially love the red ship picture in the hallway . If I were a guest upon walking into the guest room that hot air balloon would instantly make me smile . The rose really makes the chandelier stand out , just gorgeous ! These seem similar to cake donuts in the USA, that is, donuts made without yeast. Pennsylvania Germans make "fastnachts", or potato donuts, for the day prior to Lent, "fat Tuesday". They are delicious but best eaten quickly.....we'd put them in a paper bag with confectioner's sugar and shake the bag to coat. Others would cut them in half and spread the halves with table syrup; would you call that treacle in the UK? Fastnachts are a very traditional donut to the PA Germans. They always remind me of early spring.

Every time you show us what you’ve done with one of the rooms, I adore it. When you were showing your pictures, did I see one of Gainsboroughs Blue Boy? Since I was in elementary school the teacher taught us about art, and Pinky and Blue Boy were my favorite paintings. Your little dumplings you made look like little puffer fish.😆 I bet they are so good. ❤️

Kirsten and Joerg your home looks lovely! Beautiful bedroom wallpapers. The hot air ballon and original art works are delightful finds. I would like to try the recipe cooked in my large size waffle maker rather than frying it. I think it might work. We cannot do fried foods. I have decorated a small tree with beads and Mardi Gras ornaments I have collected as well as all few masks to bring in some carnival glitter.
