A little late posting today...oops! I was driving to CROCFEST in Tampa all day!!!! Thanks for watching! New videos weekdays at 5pmEST! Patreon - patreon.com/DanTheTurtleMan Merch - teespring.com/stores/DanTheTurtleMan
I used to make my own turtle food. I put carrots and beats in a juicer. Save the juice and the pulp. Cut lean beef into tiny pieces put them into a blender. put in the carrot and beat juice and pulp. Put in one multi vitamins with minerals. Put in other veggies. Blend it till it's all liquid. Put it into a large pot and heat it under low heat. Add gelatin and let cool. It will become like thick jello. Feed it to your turtles. You can make a large amount and freeze it in small batches till you use it. This worked great for my turtles and they grew very fast. Hope this helps someone.
I have a RES and i have been feeding him pellets shrimps and mealworms. His tank is planted so he also has access to veggies around his tank. But i want to try this so i can replace the pellets with something more nutritious
@@ForProfit-x100 You might also want to mix in high quality dry cat food in the blender. I feed my it to koi fish and they're healthy. Also use high quality vitamins and minerals. I think you'll be happy with the results. Good luck.
You have the best vids. I'm taking my grandturtle to the vets next week for a check up, and to get info on how I can give him the best care. She asked me to bring in a fecal sample, bahaha, I am at a loss, raised on a farm, furry critters I'm good to go, turtle is a whole new experience. Just got him a 100 gallon stock tank to set up so he can have plenty of space. Can't wait to learn about his nutritional needs.
I have an over 15 inches long turtle, it’s pretty big,I try to feed it with lettuce, watermelon and banana, and worm too,it has started to eat for two days now,why is that ? Would you know ?
Great! Mine like live mealworms and waxworms. Actually they will eat anything! I have to feed live foods as well as the pellets, as I cant get freeze dried insects or shrimps where I live.
Hey dan, I know you put out a video about good commercial pellets for Juvenile/adult turtles. But what do you recommend for baby commercial pellets? (I have a baby Red Eared Slider)
I'm excited because I just got a pond liner to build my turtle a mini pond, I want to out some fish in there so any recommendations, it's to small for koi. Also my western Painted loves worms
Dont feed him mealworms and only offer him pellets for a week or so. If it won't eat for a few days, that is fine. I would try feeding him in a small, seperate enclosure (washed out coolwhip or sourcream jar) with water that is only slightly higher than the turtle. Drop some pellets in (count them), leave the turtle alone for a while, and then come back to see if any were eaten.

@@ForProfit-x100 Also add some cod liver oil in the mix. My turtles were healthy. Add whatever you think is healthy for your turtles. Good luck.
@@rottenanimal619 thank you! I'll be sure to try this out

Frozen turtle food is also solid and not as processed. Especially, the Omega One brand.
What are good foods for mud turtles? She likes the Reptomin sticks and Medley Treats but hates the round pellets aquatic turtle food growth formula.
Love watching your shelled friends!❤
That is so awesome watching them eat the worm
"and then you will eat your throw up cause your weird" sounds like something I'd say to my own dog hahaha
Dan is indeed the turtle man

Adult food, but crushed! That or zoomed hatching turtle diet does the job ☺️
@@DanTheTurtleMan_ thank you i have been watching your videos for 2-3 years now keep up the good work.
Also I hope Pancake is recovering ok 👍
Question: how do you feed the fish in the indoor turtle pond?
Take the turtles out or make the flakes smaller so the turtles can’t eat most of it.
Ohkay😮
