Yay for Pancake!!! Ok I'm that one that spoils my red eared slider I guess. He won't eat out of the tank & only wants that fresh stuff. My African sideneck, she eats pellets, dried stuff & any good treats but not fruits/veggies. I'm afraid he won't eat ever if I hold off on the good stuff! He seriously won't eat my mixture of pellets n such. Dan I've contemplating on sending them to you anyway. Bonnie & Clyde would enjoy that pond soooo much! Bonnie is so very friendly & adorable. Clyde's the opposite lol.
It took my Ouachita Hybrid took almost 2 months to start eating veggies when I first got him and even now, - 2 years later - he's still picky AF, but at least he's eating them.... (sometimes) and my Cumberland Slider would not eat turtle pellets for the first 3 weeks however veggies were his best friend from day one. Turtles are strange creatures with vastly different personalities, wants and needs and anyone who says otherwise has never owned one.
Let me just say my female red eared slider won’t eat anything but freeze dried shrimp so I’m hoping this video helps but she won’t touch turtle pellets and won’t touch veggies
One slider I took in had only been fed turkey lunchmeat 😥 talk about stubborn, it was closer to 3 weeks to get her on Mazuri and veggies. I almost gave in a dozen times! It’s def harder on us than it is on them. Good job Pancake👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
for some more tips, this is how I got my aquatic turtle to eat: just wait it out, they will eventually get hungry change the water temperature, a warm 70-85° is a perfect temperature she/he might me a picky eater, so try to get different pellets or live food that’s all, I hope you learned something!
My new guys issue is the opposite everyone else is having. Everyone says theirs is addicted to shrimp, one of mine absolutely refuses and only goes after mealworms and occasionally crickets. He refuses everything else so I’m glad I have an alternative. I’m gonna try and wean him to try other things now cause I really want him to have a varied diet but he’s a little monster when it comes to eating.
So I noticed that you mix the different dry foods together. But I'm curious, and maybe you might know, what fruits and veggies are typical in a red eared sliders diet? I know they're more into fish and proteins when they're young, but as they get older they like "salad" instead (or so I've heard and read).
Hey I have a pet tortoise he used to love lettuce but now he refuses to eat them he would eat other stuff other than lettuce what annoys me is that when i dont have anything other than lettuce and its his feeding time… he just wont eat it
I have a new baby res turtle and it wont eat anything i give it. Its been a week now. I drop the food in its tank but it just ignores it. It gets stressed when i try to put it in a feeding tub.
So happy to see pancake eating
Me too!!;
Took the words right out of my mouth lol

Thanks again for another informative video. Also, can you make a video explaining the difference between Terrapins, maps, painted, box turtles, etc.?
Get some beer 🍻 for the turts ;)
Awsome video! Very interesting! Keep up the work!
imagine having a giant pick you up and put you into a room of soup for lunch

Is it illegal to own that one specific box turtle you have,
Butternut looks like an old man.
