My Group and I would very much enjoy a copy of this game. We would spend hours debating the artstyle alone. The adventures would surely be Epic and wild. One way or another we will bring peace to that tumultuous landscape and our tales shall be sung throughout the known galaxies.
I will definitely take an entry! I can't believe this one flew under the radar! I've seen people posting about it on Facebook since receiving their copies but this video is the first time I've learned about the actual game and I'm super bummed I missed it. I get a big Fallout vibe from this game, and not from the art (which I'm digging), but the premise of the post-apocalyptic wasteland with mutated creatures and quests and exploring locations. I have a feeling that this game will provide that adventurous gameplay that I found lacking in 7th Continent. This will be the perfect game to play with my wife :-) Thank you for your review and explanation of the game!
Entering ... Cut to the chase ... Just love Dungeon Diving games with the boys ... and love the little twists that each different game injects into the hobby
This game looks great! I can't believe I hadn't heard about it till now. I also love that they took your feedback. Great review by the way, and thanks for running the giveaway
Received gum grafts today. I am currently holding a tea bag to the roof of my mouth to stop the bleeding. I would love a distraction in the coming weeks. A copy of Dark Venture would do the trick. Thanks for the video.
I would love to enter your game give away but I now realize that I own so many colorful and artistic looking games I couldn't use that as a reason to win the contest. then I also believe maybe the game should go to a subscriber that is not so able to spend money freely or loosely on a luxury such as this game. Thank you for showing off this game and I hope the winner is a good one. I will buy this game in time for sure.
Great review.. and I would love to enter the contest because sadly, I only found out about this game after the KS ended, and the presale stock sold out.. so I really need to win this in order to get it!!! I love the look and feel of this game, it takes me back to the roots of my gaming days. (I'm almost 50). The retro feel just hits me in the feels, and since I can really only solo games due to extreme anxiety, this would be a perfect fit, for both my collection and well being. Thank you for the chance, regardless of who wins...
I’d like to enter the contest as well! I don’t own any dungeon crawl type games right now and this one looks really cool! I like the art and the small footprint, space is a premium for me so I really enjoy smaller format games that pack a big punch
I would like to enter the contest as well. The art looks great and I like how the box does not take up a lot of space but has a lot of content and gameplay!
I would like to enter the contest to win a copy of the game, as usual great review Daniel, I love to play adventure games and Dungeon crawls solo so I'm sure your house rules will come in handy. The art style on the game is outstanding! It looks like the character cards should be velvet blacklight drawings. Top shelf stuff here.
I'd like to enter this contest. Recently, I've been picking through some old mass market sci-fi paperbacks at thrift stores with my nephew, in an effort to find the weirdest stories and cover art. We have a laugh as we look them over and read them together. I think this game captures that feel of 70's-80's era science fiction pulp and would be a blast to play together and create our own stories.
Thanks for the review and give away offer. Your house rules look interesting! I'm a budding new game developer with a limited budget. I would like the opportunity to play and review games like this as I start to get my games out the door and start reviewing other games. I love the idea of games like this with interesting and narrative + art, and know I would enjoy playing this with friends and family. Thanks for considering me!
Entering the Dungeon Dive.... ready to embark on this Dark Venture.....seeking a new found Free dom.... in a chance to Win an adventure of Solo proportions!
I'd like to enter- The game looks great. =) The vintage look really fits the tiny size somehow, and the tiny size fits into my collection a bit better.
I'd like to enter the contest! Honestly I mostly love the art, it reminds me aesthetically of a mix between Escape the Dark Castle and Dungeon Degenerates.
Hey Daniel another great review/overview of a game. Please include me in your consideration when choosing who should win the game. I love the art style as it really reminds me of the EC comics from the 50s such as Weird Science. A game set in that sort of universe is unique and something that would fill a hole in my library. Also love the narrative and the fact that each location has its own unique entry. The fact that it’s small box but still complex is a plus for me. Finally it looks like a game I might be able go get my nephew to play as he is a big fan of lost in space on Netflix, and I might be able to convince him this is basically that in game form. Thanks a lot.
I would love a chance to win this game! The artwork is instant nostalgia, being someone who grew up on choose your own adventure books and a lot of D&D and other similar games in the late 80’s and 90’s. I just now looked up their Kickstarter campaign from Nov 2018. The campy retro style video was great. Obviously a different type of game, but it reminded me of commercials back in the day for Doorways to Adventure or Nightmare. Right in the feels I tell ya, right in the feels. For that alone it’s going on my list of games to be on the lookout for.
I’d like to enter the contest! I’m drawn to Dark Venture because the art in the map makes me want to explore into every little corner, and THEN I saw that prose that actually makes those map locations come to life!
One of the most amazing and unique mechanics of this game (even when compared to a full boardgame), is how a character that wasnt selecting as your hero can now possibly become a NPC or even an enemy. Like you said, it's the player populating the world. Not the other way around. Soooo that being said. I would love to win the game. Or at least a link where we can buy a copy?
Activating the NPCs (using them wisely in competitive and solo play) is key to gathering Quest Points, for sure. If you'd like to get a copy we have a few left! (US purchases only, please): dark-venture.backerkit.com/hosted_preorders
Thank you for the contest! I would like to enter, please. :-) I would like to receive this game because it just seems to fit me in so many ways...I am primarily a solo gamer (yay! another game that offers solo play!), I love dungeon-crawler type games (never get enough!), I design games (haven't tried to publish any of them...yet!), and I am an artist (LOVE the style of illustration in this game). I'm also a single father raising two kids on my own, so every little bit of money I can save helps (this is where the free game comes in, lol). Keep up the great videos, really like what I've seen since finding your channel a couple weeks ago.
very nice review, thanks! The feeling that the art gives me is very similar to that of Hyper Light Drifter. It would really be amazing if they did another KS. It seems impossible to find the game in Europe.. :(
Hey, good sir. I would love to enter this contest. Why? Firstly, I love the art style for this game. It is really interesting to see quirky, outsider or unique games in which you put a spotlight on. You turned me on to Escape from Dulce (they kindly opened up their pledge manager for me) and Dungeon Degenerates and many others. This fits right into my milieu and if I win it? My wife and I would love to jump into such a interesting world together. Regardless, thanks for all the reviews, opinions and general philosophy of gaming. Your insight means much.
I would like to enter. The art in the game reminds me of an old school TSR game GAMMA WORLD. Love the dungeon crawl and adventure type games. Normally play with my 6 yr old granddaughter but looks like she'd have to wait a few more years for this. Solo it is.
I'll tell you why I'd never have this game on my shelf if I were to win it. That's because I'd have it displayed on my entryway table for everyone who came over. Sure, the art is a huge part of the draw here, but I have to say my true infatuation with this game is... THE TITLE FONT. If I were a betting man I'd say our boy Lemon is a graphic designer first and a game designer second. Regardless, he absolutely killed the logo treatment here, and that's before I can even start to process the artwork. It most likely won't be for another year or so, but truth be told, there's no way I can avoid this game. For I have judged a book... and my fate is sealed. Now if I can just figure out how to get Black Sabbath to play when someone opens my front door.
Hey Daniel - great review, and thanks for the opportunity to win Dark Venture! One of my favorite aspects of dungeon crawling and adventure gaming is the opportunity to explore a unique world created by the designer and artists. I'm especially impressed by those who don't rely on common fantasy or sci-fi tropes. Even after watching your video, I'm still not entirely sure what Dark Venture "is." And that's AWESOME. It appears to be crawling with theme, with each revealed exploration card telling yet another chapter in the narrative. As you were flipping through the weapon deck, each card was literally a piece of art. There were no filler leather boots or short swords in there! And aside from the unique world they created, it appears its game mechanics are just as novel. PLAYING enemy cards? PLAYING map tiles? Like the character and monster art, it just doesn't entirely compute in my head, for all the right reasons. Everything appears just a little offbeat, which is carried boldly throughout every aspect of the game. I'm just very impressed with what the designer and artists accomplished here. I can't wait to get it on my table some day soon!
Going to try this. I live in Vietnam and board games are hard to come by and niche games like this are impossible. I would love to play this and should you choose me, I will send you the postage money via PayPal so you would not be out of pocket at all. Have been looking for this game for some time now.
Hey Hey, I will toss myself into the ring for the win! I am digging the style of gameplay (forgive me I have read and looked at things other than DD). The art is also grabbing me, it is really bold, resolute. In some ways it reminds me of Dungeon Degenerates art, but its just not so in your face, which is a boon for me. Definitely looking forward to trying it out at some point
I would like to win this because my husband, my daughter and I are gamers! We love to play all sorts of games/cards/board games. This game looks like one that we would like. We like games that offer strategy as well as some friendly competition and of course we like games that offer "bragging rights!" Thanks for the chance!
Hi Daniel. I’d like to win a copy of Dark Venture. I enjoyed playing Dungeoneer a lot back when it came out. And much further back I enjoyed adventure books like Lone Wolf and RPGs like Gamma World. This looks like it will be a fun, nostalgic romp.
Hi Daniel Interested what you think of Arena Tanares on Kickstarter at the moment? Also, did you get to play much more of Darklight Memento Mori after your video? What is your verdict on that nowadays?
I am not interested in Arena. Very expensive, seems like the new KS is going for plastic bloat. I think the board/map looks dull. It could be a great game, I'm just not interested in it. I have very limited funds and space, so I need to be super picky about things. :) I have heard the lore is well written, though. I just played a few games of Darklight a few months ago, and still love it. It's not without it's issues (balance, some vague rules), but it's a great old school dungeon crawl with a really vicious edge.
@@TheDungeonDive Agreed about the plastic bloat. I suggested they should offer a cheaper standee only version but I don't think that's going to happen. Glad to hear you are still enjoying Darklight. Keep up the videos, as an avid dungeon crawler fan myself, I really enjoy your channel.
I’d love to win a copy of Dark Venture. The first thing that drew me to this game is the art. Very colorful and different than most other crawl art. The theme is epic too. Eventually I will purchase a copy. But winning one would make my wife much happier with me (I spend a lot on gaming stuff, my poor wallet). Thank you for your review of the game :)
For purely solo, Legends Untold. It seems MORE like a Solo game, so much so that I probably wouldn't play it with others. Dark Venture, IMO, works best as a competitive game.
I like the idea of having a script and prestructured events and discoveries with a great variety. The artwork, though, puts me off completely. Doesn't appeal to me at all.
Deadline for the giveaway will be March 2nd. I’ll announce the winner that week.
My Group and I would very much enjoy a copy of this game. We would spend hours debating the artstyle alone. The adventures would surely be Epic and wild. One way or another we will bring peace to that tumultuous landscape and our tales shall be sung throughout the known galaxies.
