DJI Air 3 Cruise Control and Spotlight Mode - Demonstration and Setup

- The DJI Air 3 has a really handy Cruise Control feature that also work in conjunction with SpotLight Mode. In this video I demonstrate how to set it up on your controller, and how to use it. We take a short tour of the area around the park and then when it's time to bring the drone home I use the Optimized Return To Home function of the drone. Will it achieve a precision landing? Hi Marcus, you made a slight mistake about the cruise control... you mentioned that it controls the speed... it will keep all sticks and knobs where the are when the cruise is activated. So, if you are yawing left, rising in altitude, throttling forward and even changing the knob to control the gimbal, it will retain all those positions when you hit the cruise button. Now if they could just have voice control to set the cruise :) Thank you for another fun video!

@@thmoore301I just confirmed that my Mavic 3 Classic cruise control indeed maintains both sticks' position, as well as any gimbal position at the time cruise is set.

Nice to see you “Cruising” at Kleiner with the Air 3 in the Spotlight. For what it is worth, I find it ergonomically easier to engage cruise control with the C1 button. C2 for re-centering gimbal. Cheers, buddy.

Cruise control is a great feature. I played around with it when first appeared on the Mavic 3. And than I kind of forgot about it, I need to start using it more. Thanks for showing us how to use cruise control, I needed a refresher course.

DJI drones are now divided I to categories according to the most common weight categories. So I think we will now see fully featured drones in each weight category. Instead of the most expensive drones getting the best features.

I'm always amazed at the tech that these machines have! I love watching them figure a way out of a situation. I want one, but I'm holding off. I bought an Air 2 for my son for a Christmas present a couple years back. A couple of months later I ordered one for myself. That very night DJI announced the Air 2S! I eventually got an Air 2S and still fly it. I'm going to hold off until DJI announces their next upgrade,...Air 3S? Just once I would like to be on the leading edge of the technology wave!
Some time talk about battery charging the Air 3. Does its hub work like the predecessors, charging one battery at a time? I had to buy an aftermarket charger for my drone so that I could charge all my batteries simultaneously.

I always wonder why Marcus uses Metric,,, he was obviously in a military service at one point, and they messed with his mind by making him use a 24 hour clock.... my mind is immediately distracted from the video every time, .... I am sitting there saying to myself... OK he said he is going 16 kilometers per hour and I just say to myself, nevermind :( I say IMPERIAL if you are in the USA.
@@dankurydotcom dude it was a joke. I got the same comment on my channel yesterday on a drone that you can't even switch to imperial. The entire world uses metric except the USA. Even England uses metric and they created the antiquated imperial system. I usually do use imperial because I'm more familiar with it but the USA needs to switch the metric at some point. The imperial system makes zero sense. 5280ft in a mile is ridiculous. Everything should be based on ten like the metric system. Same reason we shouldn't still use Fahrenheit.
Thank you! It's super easy @RDsRCReviews. For feet simply multiply by 3.28 per meter of distance and for speed multiply m/s by 2.237 for MPH. Soon you'll be doing the calculations automatically in your head. The US needs to switch to metric!

Hey Marcus! UPS delivered my Air3 on Thursday evening, and I got my first flight in yesterday. I am thoroughly impressed, it looks to be a worthy update to my Air 2S. I am heading down to Morro Bay tomorrow to put the Air3 through its paces at the coast, provided hurricane (possibly tropical storm) "Hillary" doesn't spoil my plans.

Hi Marcus, nice video! Cruise Control is one my favorite Air 3 features. I have Stu pilot my Air 3 using cruise control when flying out a number of miles to get a video of interest. Stu has better eyesight than me. vbg Being able to set a course and not having to push the throttle stick is very useful.
BTW, my basic $1099 Air 3 never came with the foam gimbal support. The gimbal cover alone holds the gimbal firmly. IMO the Air 3 is the best consumer drone ever made. I have asked DJI to include a Explore mode for the Air 3 in a future firmware update. It would be nice to not have to stop recording when changing cameras.

Another great tutorial flight. Thanks. Have you done a video showcasing the digital zoom functions of both sensors . Including maximum zoom, quality of video in zoom mode and what recording modes it works and does not work in. Also including photo modes.

Maybe this is related the mysterious note DJI sent Dustin Dunnil. I saved it. It said "you might want to show your viewers: Smart features and tracking can work simultaneously - Mavic Series cannit do this" - I've been trying to make sensebof that ever since!

You can also set complex moves using cruise control. I believe that if you start the drone off to the side of the target, it'll act differently when you set Spotlight.

Nice video , Pilot Institute said the Air 3 had the best actual flight time in their tests. I get just about 30 minutes with the original Mavic 3 landing at 20-25% battery. Wondering if the Air 3 would be a noticeable difference.
I'm not sure which one flies longer, but they both fly long enough for my needs. 😄

Hi Marcus, enjoy your videos! Have a question for you. Are you experiencing atrocious charging time on your Air 3 batteries? I'm using a 65 watt charging block connected to DJI's charging hub, and it is taking hours to get one battery fully charged! For example, I took a flight today and the battery was down to about 50%. I put it in the charging hub at 4 30 and it is just shy of 11 30, and the battery is still not fully charged😢. Thank you in advance for any help you can send my way!!
Thank you! I've been using a 100 watt charger, and would have all three batteries charged in no more than 4 hours. I'll try one with the 65 watt charger from my Mavic 3 Pro.

Marcus I WOULD LIKE TO ASK YOU A PERSONAL FAVOUR: can you make a camparative between the Aiir 3 and Skydio 2+ ?
In particular I would like your comparison:
A) between the Motion Track from Skydio and the Active Track 5.O from DJI Air 3 and Mavic 3 Pro in order to know if Skydio retires as the Floyd Mayweather from tracking drones (unbeateable) or overpassed by the last tecnology from DJI Active Track.
B) Comparative between Key Frames From Skydio and Way Points from DJI Mavic 3 and Air 3.
I will try to enjoy my Skydio2+ as much as I can 😢. I will try to be very carefull since Skydio Care warranty is not valid in Argentina 🇦🇷 and their sunset of the consumers market will gradually make difficult for as to buy batteries, propellers, and more criticall parts as gimbals or cameras in case of a crash.
I hope you have time to make that video or at least the comparative from tracking as a good bye to Skydio 2. I think it deserves a video.
