OMG!!!! I'm a stylist myself and not even at school explained so damn good this color theory! You made it seem so simple! Congrats....You do know your stuff !!!!
I’d love to see your hair color routine. I’m also “blonde” and would love to achieve your tone. That is, not too beige and not too silver. Just right. I’m currently a level 10 but haven’t found my perfect tone yet. I keep coming out too white-ish or silver.
Aly, this was illuminating. I now have a much better understanding of how the hair color works. After many years of getting high lights that wash away in one week and then having to get a toner treatment regularly to correct the high light colors, I now have a better understanding of what’s going on. Thank you.
Love love your teaching hair colour. well broken down.. some tutors forget that they are teaching people with no or little knowledge. they teach like they are explaining to experienced people but you teach in a way that anyone with no knowledge can understand from basic and piece by piece. with pictures. love it
Yes Aly! Please do make a video about how you do your own hair! Your hair color is beautiful! And please let us know what your original color is. I have dark hair (medium brown) and whenever I go to a salon and ask about having my hair lightened to an almost white, the stylists shake their heads and say that either it can't be done or that it would be too difficult to do. And yet I see women walking around with white hair and dark roots. Any advice that you could give would be very appreciated! And I agree with some of the other comments, your channel is highly underrated!!! You are amazing!
I had the very same experience with hair stylists. Those who tried, failed lol. I always ended up with some kind of brassy orange. So I tried to dye my hair blonde at home. It was a success. I followed basically what Aly is explaining in this video. But it took a toll on my hair.
Aly has a dark blonde that's why she can dye them. Honestly if I were you I wouldn't risk of damaging my hair so much risking to loose them just for a momentary trend. But Guy Tang (the most skilled hair colorist) made a video called "Dark Hair to Platinum White Hair in one session". Give it a look and if you do it (never alone!) also do Olaplex treatment to prevent breakage both before and after dye. Also I've heard Arctic Fox is good as hair dye for unnatural colours. Maybe consider buying a wig. There are very very good natural looking wigs.
@@nickn2794 Thank you very much for your advice! I will look into all of it. I will reserve the wig option if my hair does come out a mess. Thank you again!
You have to be really patient to get to white/platinum hair with dark natural hair. It’s always taken me a year or so but the way I did it with almost black natural hair is to foil in a full set of highlights once a month being really careful to only bleach dark hair not previously lightened hair. The remainder she would foil in a brown color so all my hair was in foils. I did this at a salon with an experienced hairdresser. Once I got to a good % of my hair being blonde we started bleaching my roots completely
Those hairdressers CAN do it, but don't want to as then they would be responsible for "taking a toll on your hair". In other words they don't want you to go around saying they trashed your hair and bringing down to their business just for giving you what you want. All bleaching wrecks hair especially that many levels and you would blame them when that is just what lightening hair does, whatever the method. Olaplex did not fix my hair either, the beauty brains podcast said it's not anything unique it's just clever marketing. Would love Ally to go into detail about how to strengthen lightened hair to keep the best condition we can so those of us who want to go down lots of levels can slow breakage 😊🧸🚑
I have read several articles and watched numerous YT videos on hair colour and this by far, is THE best overview of all things hair colour. Thanks, great job!
For real, I learned the hard way that some natural redheads get green hair once they starting going grey. Well, white because it doesn’t look grey on us. I grew my hair out naturally over two years and quickly decided I’m sticking with henna lol. It makes sense because losing the red kept the blue and yellow (green) and red is opposite of green. But no one prepared me for that 😂
DEAREST BEAUTIFUL Lady YOU are NOT only verrrry IMPRESSIVE INTELLIGENT GOOD in your PRECIOUS WISDOM!!! But YOU are alsoooo suuuuperrrr beutifullll. GREETINGS FROM SAMINEM from Suriname that is in South America. God BLESS You!!!! THANK YOU VERY MUCH for Sharing your LOVELY WISDOM.
I have been coloring my own hair for a long time. I've learned to do a pretty good job but I still struggle sometimes with toning just because how dark my natural hair is. You made color theory now easier for me to understand!
Great video. I have one question though. You said around 14:00 that blue color always washes out first - But in my experience, blue and green hair dye always last the longest and reds and oranges usually wash out the quickest. I’ve noticed this on myself as I basically had every color of the rainbow at some point as well as on other people. Blue, especially turquoise tones stick like a ****. Even if you want to get them out and they were supposed to be semi-permanent or even wash out colors, they usually last really long, especially compared to pinks, reds and especially oranges that fade within just a few days/after a couple of washes.
I video about colouring hair with natural ingredients would be great! I use henna Sahara Tazarine, cassia, manjishta, honey, red paprica, camomile and flax seed gel. Perfect mixture for ginger hair! 😊 I'd love to try another mixtures too.
Giiiiirl! You are a gift from god! Really! :D you saved my hair from a very bad idea 😄😂 I used this video to choice the color for my freshly bleached hair and i got 8.13 from Alfaparf! The result just beautifull! Thank you so so much! From now, you have a new follower! Hugs xoxo 🥰🍾🍸🌷🇭🇺
Thank you very much for the explanation. Now I shouldn't by the wrong color anymore. This should be a must for hair stylists. I have the feeling there is a lack of information...
This video is an excellent colour explainer - it now all makes sense to me. Great video, thankyou. And yes I would like to see your blonde video. I just stripped my hair of colour as I felt it was too dark, then I used medium ash blonde and my hair went back to the same colour, so I had no idea what colour to buy. A hairdresser told me I should have chosen three shades lighter.
I wish I met you 5 days ago! Or your videos, at least... your videos are so informative, and you patiently and passionately explain every item on the agenda. Thankful for you!
Wonderful and detailed explanation❤ Sounds like you Aly have so many talents. I colour my hair myself and I already learnt some information and never failed completely but your lesson is very helpful to find the right shade. I have naturally medium brown colour which is getting grey 😢 Grey unfortunately doesn't suit me and makes me older. So i keep colouring them. When i was much younger, i experimented with colours. I know that blond colour doesn't suit me, as much i would like. In my 20s i had light brown colour hair which beautifully get lighter with a bit blond stands in the summer and spending a lot of time on the beach. Baltic beach. Now i live in Australia where sun is very damaging and water contains chlorine. C'est la vie 😥 I don't do sunbathing anymore due aging and dangerous sun ( skin cancer etc)

Dear Aly, thank you for this very interesting video with a lot of details. You asked if you should do another session showing us how to color your hair. As you are an expert, I would love if you do this. I have in mind to color my hair myself, but I don't have a clue. I have light beige blond hair (highlights), but I want to have a more uniform color without these highlights just as yours. So have to to treat those already bleached hair and have to to bleach my outgrown roots for the first time. So I would be happy if you could help us here a bit and with which kind of products. Hugs.
I loved the way you explained this. I NEED to know if I can use toner on my natural adjustment blonde hair for a brighter golden blonde, which I was for half my life (naturally) so I've got a base of ash blonde that I want out... I want it warmer, I want to keep my silver and gold 😂😂
