      A big thanks for helping to set me off on this journey by leading me to Saigon back in 2015.
      Hope to see you somewhere soon. I believe we almost crossed paths in Can Tho.

    It's an interesting idea, but unfortunately humans don't like to take any "bottom-up" community action unless if it involves any practical action because we are too busy doing other shit.
    We all like to have big emotional experiences that validates privilege and it seems to many that the world is nothing but a problem to be solved by enthusiasm.

    • @ConradRichardson
      @ConradRichardson  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, for sure, inspiring a bottom-up movement is extremely challenging, and yes, we are all a little distracted (myself included)... and it will take much more than a TH-cam video to pull this off. This video (...which is unfortunately far too long, big thanks if you made it to the end...) serves to introduce the concept and the bigger reasons behind it.
      Thankfully we already have a strong civil society presence in Phnom Penh who are already on board.
      To say is not possible, is wrong, for one, this type of event happens in several hundreds of cities annually. I have worked first-hand on similar projects in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia (in 2017), which have been hugely successful... owing to a proactive government and civil society.
      This particular project has since inspired new urban design standards to improve the walking and cycling environment and is slowly transforming how people can get around in the city. If Addis Ababa can do it, for sure Phnom Penh can do it.
      Thanks for tuning in!
