I considered both and decided to go with Mini. It is a better price point if you want active cruise and premium features like HK audio and massaging seats. I like the HUD and the only minir issue is a slight lag with the center screen. I expect they will improve the SW over time.
Love your review, I ordered countryman S. (Full option: 20" panoramic harman privacy glass and add tint front windows and mini tray for storage) 😊 x1 is good but countryman is match for my wife 👌
You can get massage seats on the driver side only on the Mini, and the BMW doesn’t offer it… not even on a X3. I had a Mini and I love not having a gage cluster in front of me. It can come with head’s up too. They’re using that cloth on the new X3 also!! The Mini is definitely a better deal because they hold their value better than BMWs do. P.S. I have never gotten a dashboard dirty. I’m sure there’s some special solution from BMW.
The heads up display is excellent some don’t miss the instrument cluster at all. It has stead, directions, speed limit, infotainment all on the HUD with excellent clarity.
Just purchased my 3rd Countryman today, been pleased w/ my previous two, this one the S All 4 in Chile Red and adding some black stripes on the hood. Just more fun and bang for the buck for me vs the BMW.
Not entirely true, now BMW is one of most reliable cars in the world in last years, those B48 B58 engines are bulletproof, great they went under BMW but still kept its mini charisma
Great review Anthony. I did not realize that the Countryman had gotten so big! For me the X1 would be it for sure. The mini just looks bloated to me and the X1 just looks bloated to me. How is everything on your side going? We hit 111 today and I was so glad to stay home. Your trip is coming soon yes? Hope all is well and that your are doing great Anthony
I would go x1 but the m35i. They are both awesome vehicles but the tech in the Bimmer works, I need a driver display lol. Today went great the dentist appointment was quick, I get a fresh cleaning when I come back from UK, talked with a new team but looks like it will be a little more work before they give the green light and finished up with Hyundai. It was raining on and off so the weather was amazing maybe the high 90s but it had a cool breeze to it. I hope it cools off on your side and it’s good you got to enjoy it inside. My family bought a motor sport event so look like full work vaca but I’m excited. Thanks James
The Mini looks fun but I prefer the look of the BMW. I enjoy your videos and it is interesting seeing these models that share the same platform/engine compared side-by-side. Enjoy your trip to Europe.
I wanted to do this review a couple months ago and I was glade to show the difference between them. We bought some motor sport tickets and looking forward to doing some reviews 👍
@@CenryHavill I know it does but if you watch my first review the center screen didn’t work. This time the hud didn’t work. I’m not so happy with them right now but I’m sure when an update comes it will make it better.
@@HawkeyeRides I wonder if they gave you an early demo model to review. I test drove a demo and the circle screen was running an early update so it was a bit more sluggish. The hud worked though. Would have thought they would give reviewers up to date cars.
That BMW just looks so extremely over-designed. Way too much going on outside. It's almost like there was 5 or 6 different designers working on it independently and all their ideas made the cut.

I went with the JCW Countryman. Mini all the way. I like the fun factor and personality that Mini brings.
Congratulations, I can’t wait to review the new JCW! Let us know how your experience is.
I have a Countryman S All4 on order but not sure if I should go JCW. I'll be happy either way.
Mini all day everyday! Thanks for this video!

Mini all the way! and as a bonus they come standard with adaptive cruise control, while the BMW is country specific subscription base lol

The Mini for me. I really want the new Cooper S 2 door though

I feel as if the BMW gives the Mini a bad name due to its past mechanical issues. Ultimately I’d go for the mini
I don’t quite follow as the ratings for quality on BMW has increased with it’s reliability plus both are BMW.

I picked mini

Really liking this Mini. JCW would be my pick, not much more $, imo. Wish they came out with Rebel Green for the Countryman.
I would go JCW
Does the mini come with the spare tire?
It’s extra 💰
I think driving the top trim MINI would feel more upscale than driving a entry level BMW
For a lower price to boot
Mini does have great value
The x1 is very handsome

Muh bro Anthony, question: can that annoying chime upon starting, can that be turned off on newer cars?
Hey Jeffrey you can turn the sounds off but for review purposes it sounds cool.
I'd take the X1, looks more mature
@@ELP1125 I like the x1 style

BMW 👍
Super odd that the mini didn't have a hud. The trim below iconic had a drivers pop up hud with the one I test drove.
This was my second Mini review and I keep finding weird things
