    You can't beat those Thinkpads. I'm still in love with my T430. Cheap, built like tanks, easy to get into, and run as fast as you need it to (outside gaming). Thanks for sharing, neat to see their more recent visions- I haven't delved much into their newer models.

      I like the ThinkPads, like the T430, where you can swap the CPU out. A T430 with a quad core i7 is a solid laptop even today. One of the T470's I got has a nvme SSD adapter for the 2.5" HDD bay, so I will film a video for that once I get the nvme ssd in the mail.

    Very good/encouraging tutorial ; I never noticed a place was designed for a regular 2.5 SSD. NV M2 have a reputation of heating beyond expectations. My machine has a NV M2 installed in this brand new/never used T470 I recently purchased. Thank you for reminding to disconnect the extra battery. I hope your comment about the performances will change because of the upgrade you made. I will let you know if I succeeded installing a SSY, PNY or Crucial maybe, what would you recommend ? Thank you very much.

      My pleasure! Either of those brands would be fine. Crucial 2.5" SSD's being a trusted experience. If you are on a tighter budget, a brand called Timetec is pretty good. Or TeamGroup, Patriot, Silicon Power.

    Nice video, but you forgot the critical step to disable the internal battery in the BIOS before opening the laptop. This is found in the Power Management menu. This critical step is required because some T470s are shipped with two batteries, one removable and one internal, non-removable.

      I do show how to unplug the internal battery after removing the panel. I defaulted to this before knowing it was an option in BIOS (going back to the T440, for me). I don't usually bother with entering BIOS and disabling if I am going to unplug. Do you know of any problems with this method? I have not had any problems doing this, but I am certainly not saying my way is the best way. I may be missing something? I have serviced many models with internal batteries.

    Hi,
    It is very useful video for me...just having same laptop without memory and storage...though I should use 2 × 16GB and SSD 512GB
    Question is will it be a overkill or it will perform much faster compared to 12gb and 256 settings?
    Thanks in advance for reply

    • @HaisteComputerRepair
      @HaisteComputerRepair  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      If you have the budget, go for it. I would say a SSD and at least 16GB RAM would be a sweet spot, though it may depend on what you are using the laptop for.

    Any new parts you reccomend now? I ordered a refurb t470 to use with my Akai midi contoller. I paid $190 through Amazon with some gift cards i got for xmas.

      I would just add RAM and SSD's to your liking. If there's other things worn that you would like refreshed, it's fairly easy to replace things like touchpads and keyboards etc. Good luck with your laptop!

    If im plannin to install a 8gb ram and a 4gb ram do i need to enter the bios menu?or can i just disconnect internal battery and swap rams and turn on laptop?

    • @HaisteComputerRepair
      @HaisteComputerRepair  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You can take out the external battery, open up the case, unplug the internal battery, install the RAM, maybe do a test run with the power adapter before putting everything back together, and then plug the internal batter back in and put it back together. Good luck!

    Do I need windows 10 USB Stick to install windows after the SSD upgrade?

    • @HaisteComputerRepair
      @HaisteComputerRepair  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes, that is correct. Unless you had Windows 10 preloaded on to the SSD. But either way, best to install fresh if you can.

    Can the t470 support ram speeds of 2666?

    • @HaisteComputerRepair
      @HaisteComputerRepair  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      No, it would likely cap out at 2133MHz. You can install 2666MHz, but it will not go over 2133MHz.

    Your hands are in the way we can't, see what you're doing. Mine says it has DDR4 SO-DIM 260 pin

    • @HaisteComputerRepair
      @HaisteComputerRepair  3 วันที่ผ่านมา

      It will take 2 x DDR4 SODIMM up to 2400MHz. You can install a higher speed, but it will default to 2400MHz.

      I hear you. The laptops and desktops in my videos are sold to the public, so I install Windows as default unless someone requests something else. Or, a customer is of course free to do what they like after purchase.
