Standing applause from a quiet room that does not feel like home anymore. Cheers to the Kallin family!

What a great talk of family adventure, endurance and growth. Congratulations to you all and I’m sure your motivating story will encourage many (of us) to keep exploring - and pushing - our boundaries. So grateful we’ve had the pleasure of meeting you and your family and the inspiration you’ve been to ours.

Great talk (although I felt tired even contemplating 20 and 30 mile days). Cool family. Those kids are now 18 and 15! Time flies.

So happy I cam across this. Your family was such a joy to be around during my thru hike. Two of my favorite days on the trail, Easter and the day we summited Katahdin, we spent new you all. We also had the same first 20 miler(although we stopped right at 20 and I think the Kallins did an extra mile or two). Loved this talk!

In the beginning I was was in disbelief that this family (whom I met on the ultimate frisbee turf months before they hit the trail head) would make the whole journey. I wondered, pondered and questioned how much stamina it takes. I have hiked long distances before and know the toughness it takes. This whole journey of the Kallin family, and their extended family is amazing. I am happy that folks like the Kallins, show me to expect more and not put limits or expectations, on what I or anyone else can do.

Hey Dave! I'm full of joy watching this talk, seeing some of the hundreds of photos you took during the trip, hearing about your amazing kids and the way your family accepted a challenge that will provide a foundation for all of your lives. I congratulate you and Emily and Nathan and Maddie, and wonder, what will you do next?? Whatever it is, wherever and whenever, it will inspire and encourage others to aspire to meet adventure with grit and a smile. The Lavins love the Kallins!

Awesome! I just missed seeing your family by an hour or less while doing trail magic in the Roller Coaster south of Bears Den Hostel last June. While setting up a SOBO told me he had passed you. I met Jet Cat there the day before.

Dude! My husband and I met 12% in the Shenendoah Nt'l Park in 2014 on our AT thru- hike. What a character he was. He would hike with no socks or insoles and only carried around 15lbs. He said he was training to hike the speed records of the CDT. What a small world!
