After 22 years I had to replace the tank on my sportster. I haven't shot paint in almost 30 years. But your videos have given me confidence to paint it myself & not hire it out. Thank you for the inspiration and confidence.
The more that you do the better you get. My sister makes Ukrainian Easter eggs. Similar in that you layer all the colors. Except she uses hot bee's wax in a liquid state to draw the lines instead of tape. You dye the egg in a color and cover what you want in that color with the wax. Dye the egg another color and so on. Then melt the wax off and coat egg in a clear coat. Very precise and intricate.

Can you tell me the purpose of painting a layer, applying clear then sanding the clear off, and repeating numerous times throughout the paint job? Why not just paint, let the layer dry, repeat additional layers, then apply clear when all layers are completed
Is purple the color that should be used under red candy for graphics or can red candy be used for the graphics and then candy over everything with the same color?

If you want to tape over basecoat or candy you can get by sometimes by putting down a coat of clear base, or intercoat clear same thing, then tape on it. Thats what I do before taping graphics. Ill use a silver with mini flake not a large flake that you have to cover with clearcoat then sand again.

@@TimeWarpCustomPaint Custom paint isn’t about you it’s about the customer standing out in a crowed . Who cares what you like . For $2,500 I expect when I show up at a show my bike stands out not fades away with other bikes with the same style paint.
@@mikefleming12 I’m sure you could talk to him and work out a design if you hired him. These people obviously love his style and hired him and gave him free reign over design knowing they’d get an Adam style paint job. I’d be proud to rock a time warp paint job on my Harley and if I showed up and there were others from him I’d park right next to them and watch people flock to our bad ass bikes from time warp custom paint.
@@mikefleming12 2500 is very reasonable for that work...around my area, 2500 for single color starting price... nice quality, but street bike stuff..here, Adams stuff would get 4500 easy...

it depends on the brand of paint but yes 50/50 is good place to start

Do you use an Accelerator in the candy to be able to tape over pervious candy
No the candy is mixed with clear basecoat not clearcoat
If you want to tape over basecoat or candy you can get by sometimes by putting down a coat of clear base, or intercoat clear same thing, then tape on it. Thats what I do before taping graphics. Ill use a silver with mini flake not a large flake that you have to cover with clearcoat then sand again.
