    1. I have a tool box under my backseat, its a factory option.
    2. Turn it off.
    3. Lol, cmon man, those are not off road tires
    4. No duh 🙄 sensors are factory calibrated
    5. Toyota has GPS that doesn’t require a phone.
    6. I wasted my time watching this ridiculousness

      I agree with you these are petty and frankly, he could have identified these issues before he bought the truck. How does one purchase a vehicle and find out after the purchase that it doesn't come with Navigation or under the seat storage? When you consider how much you are paying for one of these vehicles, you should know exactly what your purchasing and all of the options before you sign the contract.

  • @littl32an
    @littl32an 6 ปีที่แล้ว +94

    The navigation issue was due to the fact you wanted the truck with “no frills”. Toyota does offer a navigation system for the tundra. My 18 has it. Because I didn’t want to deal with what you’re talking about.

      Kongmeng Vang he bought a truck that came with a set of tires. I'm his experience, the tires have a weak sidewall. He made a video of his experience of his first 10k miles, of course the tire issue is valid to mention

    • @kojpim271

      @samuelvenegas2889 6 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Kongmeng Vang definitely. For example the Tacoma TRD comes with some tough Kevlar tires. In a review you'd mention the benefits of a strong tire as you would the disadvantages of a weak tire

      Samuel Venegas not really most people don't need strong side wall tires. If you toe or put heavy loads in the trunk you'd need it.

  • @PhilSowden
    @PhilSowden 6 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    Hi Mike, just bought an '18 SR5 w/ off road pkg. For the storage, you'll find that you can fit more than you think under the rear seats. Fold them up and slide the stuff all the way back. I have jumper cables, tow straps, first aid kit, etc. You can also use the rear door storage for some stuff. I don't think the rear seat passengers need all that door storage. I agree about the tires. I got a nail in mine within 50 miles of driving off the lot. I think they're magnets for stuff. Good grip though.

    • @curtlyons9310
      @curtlyons9310 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Phil if you see this, I recently bought a 2018 Tundra, and the lack of underseat storage blew me away. I was driving a 2012 Silverado and it had lot more storage there. I keep a duffle bag of truck stuff, jumper cables, tow strap... as it is now it won't fit under my rear seat. My neighbor has a 2016 with a sweet storage unit under the rear seats, but it seems like Toyota just built some kind of box to fill the space, kinda weird.

  • @thesqaanalyst
    @thesqaanalyst 6 ปีที่แล้ว +41

    I have a '17 limited. Left GM. For storage I own two of the "swing box" cases for the bed. They work great, I keep straps, hitch, breaker bar and lug wrench. The bed is short, but I didn't buy mine as a "work" truck, just a weekend hauler and to tow the boat.

    The tires are not meant for offloading they are meant for gas milage as most people drive their trucks on the road.
    If you off road you need to get Kevlar reinforced tires.
    If you lift your truck, it's Gunna suck at toeing trailers.

    • @shanchauhan8281
      @shanchauhan8281 6 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      The only reason why the Tundra has a good resale value is that not a lot of them are sold compared to the F-150 and the Chevy Silverado. Durability, All trucks are good. Fords and Chevy trucks are more reliable because they can tow and haul more, they both have stronger frames, and you can expect them to get you to your destination with fewer pit stops for refueling. it still depends on how you drive your truck.

  • @TacomanLos
    @TacomanLos 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    The tire isn’t a Tundra issue . The sensor issue with the lift add on is also not a tundra issue. Recalibrated sensors would probably perform normal once lifted. Most “trucks” won’t come with additional storage bins but can be added. My last two tundras had zero storage bins double cab and a crewmax. I made my own custom. The proximity alarms are probably a bad sensor which would be a warranty item. You can always upgrade to a proper navigation system. Those app radios suck and I wouldn’t get one ever. I hope someday I’ll be back in a Tundra. I miss my Crewmax!!

  • @kens97sto171
    @kens97sto171 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    The branch taking out a tire is not an uncommon issue in a desert. There are certain bushes that are prone to do this, when they are driven over they snap and make a spear shapes, the next guy that drives over it loses a tire.
    The GPS is an easy fix. You can download offline maps on an Android phone. It allows a large area to be chosen.
    That should allow you to contine to navigate when you losses signal on the phone. It will prompt you to update that map every month.. or delete it.

    I have a 2014 with 75k miles. I drive a lot of highway. I get about 17.4 combined mpg (some city involved) but I average about 19.4 mpg when using cruise control and travelling 65mph. I changed my rear diff fluid and added a tonneau cover which seems to have helped with my mpg. Love my truck! Runs great, AND (maybe some of you know what I'm talking about), I kinda like that it has a bit of a diesel sound (people say the 5.7's valve train gives off that noise). Anyway, keep enjoying your Tundra!

    Just bought a brand new 2018 Toyota Tundra TRD 4x4 off road. It has a 6 inch lift on it with 35 inch tires and 20 inch fuel wheels. I have not had a single issue with any of the sensors, they all function great. The storage is lacking compared to other models, but that can be fixed with a tool box or decked storage system. As far as the tire goes, man come on, that can happen with any vehicle, at any time. Mine has a built in GPS with that does not run off my phone. Thanks for the videos.

    Under seat storage is available. The TSS can be turned off. Radar sensitivity can be adjusted. The standard tires are not off road tires and you should have aired down a bit to avoid punctures. At speed, off road, fully inflated almost anything can puncture your tires. Unless I’m mistaken scout gps is an app option but there’s standard gps as well.

    Reasons I bought a Ram 1500 SLT over a Tundra using your issues.
    1. Storage - the ram has storage compartment under the rear seat.
    2. Collision sensor - Don't have sensors on my Ram. Have tried a Ram with sensors and there is still no issue. I notice that this is a common annoyance with all toyota models. My brother's Camry makes all sorts of weird beeps and sounds with no clear indication.
    3. When it comes to tires, you can't really blame anything on the truck. Change them for a set of good all terrains. My Ram came with Good Year Wranglers and they're really good. Even been on sand with it and they're good.
    4. When it comes to lift kits and stuff, any truck will give you issues if not done or installed correctly. There are plenty of good options for the Tundra, but bear in mind that a good lift kit that works with the sensors, will not be cheap. For the Ram, there are plenty of kits. Some of them are not to my taste, but I do like the stuff from AEV.
    5. Toyotas infotainment systems are seriously lacking. Even a high end Lexus isn't as good as a what is on a Chevy Malibu. Ram's Uconnect is what made me get it over any other truck. Didn't like the ones on Ford or Chevy either. The Uconnect is seriously as responsive as an iphone screen and easy to operate.

My 2018 tundra has gps that does not use entune so no internet is needed and it works better than google map or apple map, i like the map. It beeps twice when you about to turn and one beep when you should turn. They didnt take stuffs out for no reason, there is a video on why they took certain things out, because alot of people wanted like that. Same thing with why the backseat doesnt fold down. I just bought the 2018 Tundra my 3rd Tundra best truck towing wise over other regular Trucks hands down i tested with friends f-150, chevy 1500 and ram. Behind the rear seat there is enough space for straps in small bag and jumper cables i carry them in mine no issues. Don't put under rear seats they will slide out. I had an issue with my collision system i would get notices to brake with no cars around me and one day i got a warning notice on display saying to take in to dealer for collision system repair. Tires seem ok i use in city and off road at my ranch taken through wet and dry conditions through forest and no tire damage you must of got a bad batch of tires. Honestly tundras even 4x4 trd arent really made for heavy off road their to big and heavy your better off with tacoma for off road.

    I own an '18 Limited TRD Off Road that came with under seat storage and a GPS. The in dash GPS is difficult to use compared to a Garmin. I think a recall is available for the PCS. Flat tires happen. Heated and leather seats are better than I thought they would be. And a 38 gal. gas tank makes long off-roading trips less challenging. My 4th Toyota product. I was interested in a Ford but our dealer had no off road package on the lot. Did I mention that 12 more gallons of gas is a big deal.

  • @clarksonboy

    I couldn’t agree more with the storage issue! Toyota definitely either missed a design opportunity there or they are just simply too cheap to offer storage solutions underneath the rear seats.
    As for the GPS issue, you should have gone with a trim that offers entune premium with GPS. I think it’s unfair to call Toyota out when it was your decision to choose a lower trim. How about learning your route or get a Garmin before you go off-road?

    People have been bitching about tire punctures when off-roading since the beginning of time. The tires that come on a truck from the factory are more for on-road smoothness, and ride comfort. Not off-road toughness. If they did put a true off-road tire on from the factory most people would complain about the harsh ride, poor mpg, noisy tread, and high cost of replacement. It's also good to keep in mind that even the toughest tires out there can still be punctured pretty easily.

Not a lot of aftermarket storage devices. The collision system randomly goes off, which is annoying. It's kind of like the Amber Alerts on your phone...scares the $hit out of you when it goes off. Why, So when he throws a cinder block in the bed he can create a hole?
      Ford F-150 is junk compared to a Tundra. As a matter of fact, they all are.

      TideIsHigh89 if you specialize in throwing cinder blocks into your truck bed you should consider at least one of the following a.)getting bed liner, b.) Getting a towing platform to haul them rather than have them weigh down the truck bed and c.) Not throw the bricks like a bunch of numb nuts unless it's trash then review your opinions A and B.

      I have yet to see an Aluminum made F150 with a hole in its bed.
      Also, too much nonsense about paying 50K for a truck and not getting a bedliner that will protect your bed and costs just a few hundred

    Toyota's are the best! I have a Prius and a Corolla and both have over 200K miles and run like new! I use Automotive Wolf car care software on my vehicles to monitor the maintenance schedules and have it set up to send me text message reminders when any service is due, so I'm always up-to-date on all the maintenance. Makes a BIG difference. :)

    I own a 2018 Toyota Tundra 1794 Edition TRD Package and does not have any of the issues that you're having. Love my truck and does everything that a Tundra should.

    I have had a flat tire from a branch in the road too. However, the tire was a Michelin street tire for an 2006 Mercury Milan. BTW the Milan is an excellent car and is still on the road. It still looks new. Just to note I always pick up screws, nails, etc. in parking lots, because you know its going to end up in someone's tire.

    Owned a 2011 and a 2017 Tundra. Great trucks. Just bought a '18 F-150 3.5. ....Toyota is a at least a decade behind in technology. So far the F-150 is amazing. There are a few things I miss about the Tundra.

    Tell your dealer about the “brake” light turning on. I’ve fixed a couple at my dealership by replacing the front radar sensor.

    There are under seat storage options. Check out ESP Truck Accessories. I have the 3 bin plastic storage tray. Easy to install and holds all my straps, cables, hitch, etc... If I had any complaint after 45k miles, it's the small gas tank for towing. I tow a 30 ft toy hauler and range is an issue, but that's my fault for not getting the large tank.
