I love your enthusiasm about all your finds at both these shows! I have two comments. First, for the green and white eyelet border fabric, I immediately thought of the latest Cashmerette pattern. Second, this is my personal pet peeve and PSA. Please don't put your iron next to the sewing machine, even for the little quick presses. As a nation, we have such sedentary lives, and this is intrinsically a sedentary hobby. By placing the iron on the other side of the room, or even just a few steps away, it forces you to get up and move around, which is so good for you. Just my two cents.
She works out AND plays golf, so she is pretty active! I would love to have one, just for the little presses you need to make. You still need to get up and down to use the big iron. Everyone who sews or sits at a computer all day, needs to have an exercise routine!!
Great vid!! LOVE the swim fabric!! Gorgeous-also Jenny's (sp) lilac with the pineapples!! :+) Good to see your sunny face and smile!! :+) I checked out the irons and magnets-I love my "Rowenta" which I have had for almost 25 years now, but it is a beast-I do keep it up in my dining room on my full sized ironing board- as my cutting table and sewing machine cabinet-along with my stereo, computer, tv,, printer, fabric and pattern storage take up all the space in my sewing room!! :+) I would really like to get a tiny ironing board that I could attach to my cabinet or sewing table some place-and keep a small iron there for quick ironing or pressing-any thoughts on that?? Then I would get the smaller iron for that purpose!! :+) "Amanda's Bundles" is fabulous!! WOW!! Once I've sewn up some of my stash I will be going back there for certain!! I had wrist surgery, and the cast came off last week, but I am having to wear brace for a while, and a lot of restrictions!! You keep going, Whitney-it's so much fun to watch you- and your enthusiasm is contagious!! :+)
Love that border print Broderie Anglaise. I love my Oliso iron, too. I’m now onto my second one. I had a yellow one for a long time and it finally died last year so I now have a pretty turquoise one 🥰
I have that exact little oliso iron and I love it! That border cotton with the green embroidery is stunning! I am hoping to go to H & H next year for my quilting business. It seems like a very cool show!
Oh, that swimsuit knit!! 🧡 Wouldn't that be just dreamy for a Palm Springs vacation?! With a floaty Peach Fuzz coverup and rhinestone sunglasses..... and a daquiri haha. 😁 The trip to the shows does sound like a lot of fun!
Love the fabrics. They are so colorful and vibrant. A friend gave me a whole bunch of small round magnets. I have a hem guide that I put my fabric under and it holds my fabric layers in place. Sometimes fabric will slip up from the bottom and be uneven. I place 2 of the magnets down there and sew up to them. Fabric stays together. I also got a metal sheet and put it under my cutting board. Instead of pins I use the magnets to hold patterns in place or my tracing paper.
Totally channelling the Woody vibes with that mustard and red check😂 Toy Story themed dress I think hehe! But I think the double border Broderie Anglaise is going to be GORGEOUS! And I love the print Jenny chose for her shirt - she's the same colours as me. It's fortunate that you get to go to these expos and things. You come home full of ideas and inspiration.
I have both Oliso irons. They are great! I was in Cleveland the week before the show. I tried to postpone my trip by a week to see the show but couldn’t work it out. I’m from Cleveland too. Once n a while Sew Expo comes to Chicago. Your videos are great!
Great vid. I mainly sew garments & have used Sew Tites for years. They are also great to use to hold pattern pieces together when doing pattern work. I have the Sew Tites cutting system & it’s great. The magnets are also great when doing machine embroidery especially if you have layers in the hoop that might shift.
Sounds like you and Jenni had a great time! Love your fabric picks! I also have an Oliso iron , the baby . I love it! I made a pair of capris a Simplicity pattern. They turned out great! I am so happy! Can we order the Schmitz needles through you! I need better elastic for my pants I think I remember you saying you use the knitted non role type. Is this correct? Thanks Whitney!!
We did have a great time! I don't have an affiliate link or anything with Schmetz, but thank you for inquiring! I'm so glad that you are having some sewing wins. That is always a fabulous feeling! As far as elastic. I like the plain knitted elastic. It's less bulky and lays really flat. I get mine from Wawak: www.wawak.com/garment-construction/elastic-waistbands/knitted/?Style=Knitted+Elastic
Lovely fabric haul! You mentioned a golf lookbook videos d I am hoping you include fabric selections for each piece. It is difficult to source appropriate fabrics for golf wear. Thanks for the video.
I really enjoyed hearing about H+H. I know this won't get the views of your "10 patterns for this fabric" videos, but as a serious sewist I love industry news. Thank you. ❤
Come to Fairview Heights Illinois to Jackman Fabrics. It’s where I bought my sewing machine and they are lovely to work with and have lots of classes. They need more garment sewing classes
First time commenter here. You are a phenominal seamstress and I so enjoy your videos. When sewing knit tops, do you have trouble with the dreaded diagonal drag line that comes down the long sleeve front and do you have any tips or tricks to avoid that? I have tried everything I can find to no avail. Thanks Whitney.
Hello and thank you for commenting! Are you referring to a line that goes from the top of the shoulder and then wraps to the front of the arm? That is usually indicating that the sleeve needs to be rotated forward, which usually, though not always, an indicator that a forward shoulder adjustment is needed. Have you tried that?
Thank you for sharing! I’m sorry but that Oliso iron is not any better that a regular iron. What you’re paying for is the looks and that it has the lift. Other than that it’s not worth the price. I have one sitting on a shelf! It runs out of water quick, it shuts off when it’s on the legs. You have to wait for it to heat up again, the steam is terrible and it leaks. My friends own one and they have sent them to GW. 😅 I took the little one to a class in Puyallup. Cuz it was small enough for traveling and the other students in class commented that it was junk! 🙄

We ALL need to get up and move more! I'm guilty of sitting and sewing all day, but I try to get my steps in too!
I'm so sorry, I didn't mean to imply that Whitney wasn't active enough. I was just hoping to remind Whitney's viewers to get up and move around. ❤
@@lisagoldring2838 no worries! It is an important reminder to us all!

It is a very cool show--tons of great information!
Wendy I live in Palm Springs California. That swining suit fabric looks favolous.
Yes it does!
You've painted a beautiful scene for this swimsuit print (now I'm looking at flights.....)
The striped pineapples would also look great as preppy pants.
Not quite enough fabric for that
I’m so sick and all I want to do is listen to your videos❤
Oh, I hope you feel better soon!
Love the swimsuit fabric. A sew along would be fantastic
Great idea!
I watched you at the Schmetz booth on Zoom. It was great and I learned more about the needles!
I'm really glad you tuned in! The other guests were delightful to meet in real life!
The desert would be great with the peach fuzz as an accent colour or strip! While busy, your travels looked like they filled your cup!
Oh yes! That would look so cute!
Love your perkiness. Nice to hear and see your creativity:)
Thank you!

I somehow missed this video so catching up on your journey! Sounds like you two had a blast. Love your show!

Shopping fabric is fun, but the best part of these shows is gaining inspiration and also being surrounded by fellow creative people!

I love Amanda's Bundles. All my knints that I have in my stash "for class" I got from her.
They are really nice to work with

I'm excited to try them more. And I'm learning more about the embroidery module on the Bernina 790 Pro I currently have from University of Sewing.

I absolutely love my Oliso irons!! I keep my small iron and a wool pressing mat next to me as I work! They both function really well!
It's pretty handy!
Lovely fabric haul! You mentioned a golf lookbook videos d I am hoping you include fabric selections for each piece. It is difficult to source appropriate fabrics for golf wear. Thanks for the video.
Stay tuned!

I'm glad it was helpful. There was so much to absorb!
J Stern has a cool tools series and she’s shown the Sew Tites. I haven’t invested yet, but one of these days I’ll do it.
They really have a diverse and large product line!
Some fantastic fabrics 😊❤
Yes! They really are!
I hope you're coming to the The Sewing Expo in Cincinnati in October.
Undecided right now on Cincinnati
Come to Fairview Heights Illinois to Jackman Fabrics. It’s where I bought my sewing machine and they are lovely to work with and have lots of classes. They need more garment sewing classes
Put me in touch with your store owner!
Whitney, please consider doing some videos on these different Oliso. I am looking for good lightweight irons.
I'll be using it a lot coming up! stay tuned!

Add some contrasting trim to the peach skort.

Please send Jenni's address so I can sneak in and grab that pink stripe with pineapples woven! 🙂
I don't think she will give it up without a fight!
Once or twice you mention Seymour Patterns. I'm not familiar with them. Would you provide a link?
They’re on etsy
I think you mean Seamwork patterns. Here's a link: www.seamwork.com/?rfsn=7640516.4a30b3
@@TomKatStitchery LOL! Silly me!
Tally the number of times you used the adjective, "cool." 🤣
Where did I land on that? 🤣🤣🤣
You’ve got you a sunkissed glow or is that stress flushing 😂. Either way you look fabulous although I’m sure you’re exhausted
Post soccer game sunburn...
