William Royce Scaggs still has it. 77 years old in 2021, this man has retained his vocal and musical talents through his entire career. Boz is one "cool cat".
Silk Degrees one of the all-time greatest albums, wore it out I played it so much and had to re- purchase. Still love listening to Boz Scaggs in 2022 ♥️
Never got the recognition that his music earned. He would pop up for a flash, then disappear commercially, but the quality of his music just rolled on, and on.
41 years have passed since the release of this hit, and by listening to the performance, not much, if anything, has diminished, more so it's further refined his magnificent voice and delivery...pretty amazing if you were to ask me.
Lowdown stands the test of time because of Boz's amazing vocals and the many hooks in the song. The drum beat in the beginning, the bass pluck at the beginnning, flutes and the "I wonder wonder wonder whooooooooo...."
The drums on this song are down to Jeff Porcaro who co-wrote it he of Toto and Steeley Dan - amazing session drummer who almost recruited Michael McDonald into Toto. Mike appeared on I'll Be Over You as a member of the band.
+Zuma Dogg What a great and intelligent comment; no-one ever seems to consider that sort of thing. But the hardest job is that of the drummer, trying to emulate the brilliant Jeff Porcaro (RIP).Didn't see this as I can't stand Jules Holland; always sounds about as sincere as Ulrika Jonsson saying 'Ouch' on her wedding night.
+Zuma Dogg There's an interesting interview with him somewhere on YT where he talks about his singing. Says his voice on the early recordings embarrasses him. Still sounds good to me though. He comes over as a modest and engaging human being. Long may he endure!
Brings me right back to the late 70’s when Boz was releasing hit records one after another. I’ve been a fan ever since. Watch the DVD the Dukes of September. Boz, Michael Macdonald, and Donald Fagen. Fantastic concert!
Even at his age and being a professional musician myself a concert organist in both Classical organ what you hear in church and Theater Organ what you hear at our Ohio Theater here in Columbus, Ohio "BOZ IS STILL THE BOSS".
Fabuloso Merry Christmas everyone for 2024, remembering all the wonderful people who appeared on the hootenay, some are still here some have passed god bless them all❤❤
I was born in the 70s and I could listen this guy when I was a little kid.. and still remember this tunes with good memories.. great music from 70s and 80s.. the most creative decades of different genders of music of all times...
Still one of my top favorite singers, even after all these years! His performance here is STELLAR, and even brings tears to my eyes to see good ole' Boz performing so well today!
Oh how many times have I had this music playing w/soft lighting and a good wine shared w/a babe like you. Not a wasted youth cause I'm still doing it just like Boz. How bout you honey; got a man treating you right?
My husband and I saw Boz at the Fantasy Resort Casino in Indio last year, and he was just superb. Beautiful voice, and this song kicked ass. Definitely one music legend.
Boz your the best. Come back to New Zealand. I still remember you from 1974 and you ROCKED us at Western Springs Auckland. This was your opening song and we were like....... this man - what a priviledge!!! That he should come down under to GodsZone New Zealand! It was a great night to be stoned. Kia Ora.
Along with " A Night At the Opera", "Silk Degrees" is one of the finest pieces of musical art mankind will ever witness. I shed a tear sometimes when I hear what music has become. I bought this vinyl in 1976 and I still own and play the same copy.
I only discovered Boz Scaggs on Jools Holland a couple of years ago and have been hooked ever since. His sound is so original and lyrics real. Just hope Jools has him back again.
WOW! What a Voice! Boz is now in his 70's & is still Rockin..Without a doubt he's a Living Legend & I Pray he's gonna be with us many more years to come.
Loved Boz' 2004 live concert. What a band too..Now that's what I call a perfectly recorded and performed concert..R&B, Jazz, Blues etc. Boz Scaggs is #1..and at 71 + All time great musician..
Saw this on the night it was broadcast. What a legend but how good does the band sound? It blew me away on the night, still does every time I watch it. Top Tune.
That key instrumental break where the sustained horn notes blend into strings, I don't anybody appreciates how hard it is to do live with any delicacy, but the band nailed it.
Big road trip for me through all of the Western US in 1972, this song playing regularly over any radio station I could find. What a trip, what a song, what a singer. And now we’re both old.
Hermoso, asi sea con orquesta, o con su grupo, esta melodia es preciosa, a pesar de los años su voz es perfecta, pura, sin sintetizador, un abrazo Boz, y muchas BENDICIONES.
ABSOLUTELY PERFECT SONG. NEVER PISSES YOU OFF, NO MATTER WHAT YOUR MOOD IS. HAS A CALMING EFFECT. REMINDS ME OF A MIDNIGHT HEAVY FALLING SNOW, SILENCE AND FEELING YOUNG.
Only 4? The first time I laid eyes on him was on TV, local in studio concert. I was 15. Saw him in person 2 months later. Lived in the same area that he did. I grew up seeing him play local before he got really big. And Silk Degrees came out it was local boy makes good!
Jazz blues fusion....this tune always hits the notes for me..great trip down memory lane driving fast down PCH in LA...as a young expat....great job band....Boz is pushing 70+ good job been around forever and was in a band with the great Steve Miller in HS....that must have been a hell of band...Silk Degrees is going in my coffin...truly great album!
Boz is the best live, and can't get enough. The coolest guy and a true music legend. Come back to Oz so we can see you again. :) And please bring Ms Monet with you, she has a powerhouse voice.
Iv'e seen him live on a few occasions, and he never disappoints. He comes from the era where songwriters were also good musicians... not many of his kind left.
I can't criticize Boz, but that drummer just doesn't cut it. The drum track makes the song, and Jeff Porcaro was the original Cracker Jack drummer that delivered the original funk that characterized this song. Lots of great drummers around. Not sure why they settled for this one...
I was in high school jazz band and played this on drums.. my first real syncopated part and loved ever measure… real music yall.!! Masterpiece and boz sounds awesome
William Royce Scaggs still has it. 77 years old in 2021, this man has retained his vocal and musical talents through his entire career. Boz is one "cool cat".
Google cool as f___,up pops Boz
Cooler than Elton. And preserved his voice wonderfully.
I gotta go, Lido is a calling.
Still killing it. I wish I would've seen him 8 to 10 times by now. TH-cam is as close as I'll get. I'm grateful.
He's a must see if he comes to play near you.
Saw Steve Miller, Boz and Dickie Betts all on the same stage together jamming out back in 74.
75 years old and still kicks ass.
That unique voice has not changed a bit! Love this guy!
Amazing voice has held up 100%
Smooth and silk!!!!!!
My dad played this often. When I hear it I think of him and smile. He is 93 and still with me. I absolutely love this song.☺
Play it for him!!!❣️🌹❣️
❤
Silk Degrees one of the all-time greatest albums, wore it out I played it so much and had to re- purchase. Still love listening to Boz Scaggs in 2022 ♥️
2024 here!❤
@@nancybegin5870 Same here!!
50 years on, I still love this song!!!!!!
A beautiful man with a gorgeous voice .... Thank you Mr Scaggs
I grew up listening to Boz and always enjoyed it. As an adult I truly appreciate his beautiful voice. He is a legend.
Never got the recognition that his music earned. He would pop up for a flash, then disappear commercially, but the quality of his music just rolled on, and on.
Yes it did! An amazing singer/artist, blessed with so much talent/ and a beautiful voice. He never gets old ♥

Just saw Boz at Hampton Beach Casino , great show
Out-cools ALL...
Back when we really had real music, Boz Scaggs ruled the air waves.good days.
41 years have passed since the release of this hit, and by listening to the performance, not much, if anything, has diminished, more so it's further refined his magnificent voice and delivery...pretty amazing if you were to ask me.
Totally, first heard it in my local cool pizza place in 76 and has been in my top 5 ever since. The album is just superb too
This song passes the time test with flying colors. It could be played 100 years from now and still sound fresh. Great live performance.
Still listening in 2021. Classic!
Thumbs up to that brother, its all good.
Without a doubt in ‘23!
Love the horns and backing vocals. The whole vibe is 10/10.
His voice sound just like his recording. One of my favorite songs EVER!!!
Lowdown stands the test of time because of Boz's amazing vocals and the many hooks in the song. The drum beat in the beginning, the bass pluck at the beginnning, flutes and the "I wonder wonder wonder whooooooooo...."

One of the best singers and song writers ever... it's a shame we don't have more like him......
David Paich of Toto co-wrote most of the songs on Silk degrees.
Amen to that one, yes Sir, for decades I’ve been listening🤟🏼🤟🏼🤟🏼🤪
@@rwatkins7555 Toto- disco band. Silk Degrees- disco album.
