- I've always wanted to go to Hampi, India, which is an ancient town full of 7th-Century ruins in the South Indian State of Karnataka. Little did I know when I was planning my trip that there would be a huge two-day festival known as Hampi Utsav happening. Join me on this amazing adventure as I explore Hampi, India that was once described as “far bigger and greater than Rome”.

Jessica don't get me wrong..... I just want to give you a little suggestion.. When go into these villages, just go in Indian attire, like salwar suit.... You'll get less attention.... Try to cover your body... Villagers are very much used to it.... I'm sorry, didn't mean to offend you.... Just wanted to give you a little suggestion....

Hampi is used to foreigners. There is no need to follow our dressing style. We Karnataka people are open to the world and Karnataka is safe.

The carvings are so precise and beautiful. They look as alive as human beings. That's the elegance of Indian Architecture.

HAMPI-UNESCO word heritage site. It’s dotted with numerous ruined temple complexes from the Vijayanagara Empire. YOU ARE AT THE BEST PLACE IN SOUTHERN INDIA.

1 pillow and 1 blanket was for the person in the lower berth. they keep it on top so ppl can sit on the lower berth during the day.
U must surely visit tirumala and have the darshan of lord venkateshwara!! It's the most magical and divine place on earth, it's the most visited temple in the world. And the best part is lord vishnu(the supreme) manifested himself into a statue there and that's the reason behind such high divinity there!! I would love to help u out and teach u more about indian history and culture. Loads of love..keep rockin!!

Sincerely wish you had a nice and trusted person here who could not only show you places, but also explain the significance, history, backdrop and relevance of places you visit and mainly make sure you're safe and treated with respect, love, kindness and ingenuity as in the case of an ideal Indian or Indian hospitality. Try and ignore people you think are a little weird, who are bothersome and. pestering about, seeking selfies a little too persistently. Be in a crowd and do have the essential contact nos handy. Take good care, be safe and travel safely... and needless to say we're very happy to have you as our guest. Hope you're enjoying your stay here and so sorry for anything that you notice that are not in place (like some places that aren't tidy, few unruly people, people asking for higher fares, etc). The path to set right a few things and few people are a little long one... one thing to sadly notice is the way Hampi today.. saddening some of the current lot does not know what a "gem" and a place of abundance, grandiose and a landmark it once was (the great Vijayanagar empire. It was one of the richest, advanced, resourceful and a great kingdom ruled by the emperor Krishnadevaraya) and they have done little to maintain the place, the surroundings, the history and sanctity, and have done little to keep it clean & tidy.
Having said thus, there are some really beautiful and breathtaking places in South India and India as a whole.

When you go to visit temples there is male and female queue's so dont mind poking around making friends with the ladies so that they'll happily guide you through the worship baying off unwanted [male] attention. The selphie craze is so true like you explained. The best way to avoid this is to ignore the people who crowd around you, show a serious face by which you communicate that you are here to see Hampi and appreciate the place and culture...it may sound rude but it is the best way..works always..

Well,Hampi is a very beautiful place and if you had a tour guide it would have been better cause this place is so rich with lots of history but sorry that you couldn't get to know the place better because of the people. As your Indian friend said,its truee and please make sure to visit Hampi again👍

I love your free spirit so much it's so interesting to me how people may not have money to eat but some how people always find money to buy a cell phone lol.
When I went to Jamaica back in 2016 people would tell me how poor they were but they all had an IPhone lol. I asked them how are you so poor and have an iPhone? I don't even have an iPhone and I live in Canada lol. I have a cheap cell phone that I got at Costco for less then $200 lol.
Then one person asked me if I could come back to Canada and buy them the newest iPhone and send it to them by mail after I just told them that I don't even have an iPhone and I live in Canada lol. People don't listen very well it's amazing how ignorance is still very high after all these generations.
I have found that people outside of Canada and America think that we have it better and we are all rich if they only new how hard we work for our $ and how high cost of living is they wouldn't be so easy to ask for $ not everyone that lives in Canada and America is wealthy some of us have to save up for years to be able to go on a vacation.
I haven't been anywhere since 2016, and I struggle to make a very poor lifestyle happen for me if you want money work for it because money doesn't grow on trees alot of people working 3 jobs and don't save any $ because cost of living is so high and unfortunately some times you have to stay in a shitty job that's life my parents were very poor but they worked very hard and now they are OK life is not easy one must work and be smart
