Our overall plan in India is to travel via rickshaw/tuk tuk from the South to North (if it's possible?) The next leg of our journey is to travel the rest of the way through Karnataka and then up to Maharashta
We feel like we have only just arrived in India, after a crazy time back home doing van life and living full time in our camper van conversion for two years in the UK. But after some serious engine problems that cost us a fortune, we came to India on a mission to honour Liam's Grandad's legacy who sadly died earlier this year. With the inheritance money Liam got from that, we bought the tuk tuk and named it after Liam's Grandad.

Hampi is just beyond beautiful. I visited this February. And I was blown away. Some of the places, like the Queens baths, lotus palace, elephant stables. It takes your breath away. The step well, canal systems. Carved plates/ thalis and katories , amazing. The monolith huge doors, which could only be opened by elephants. Secret underground chamber, so the king could have discussions and no one else would hear. The administration area is spectacular. You see carvings of elephants, horses and camels. That was a sign that trade used to take place with Persia and Arabia. There are two pillars near this area, which were used as lathes, to shape the pillars into perfect rounds. The technology behind all of this is so wonderful to see. The main temples, the chariot, and the musical pillars.
Liam and Janine, you have done wonders for Indian tourism, you have embraced the culture and religious events, showing us an amazing country full of Love. ❤

I bathed elephants after riding on the majestic animal at a spice plantation in India ❤ still one of the best times I have ever had in India 😊

@@oblivion_007 I have been to India many times and am very aware of the abuse and misuse that elephants suffer.
I chose a haven/sanctuary plantation that had animals that were not abused but revered and adored, treated with respect and cared for in the manner that showed total respect!

Vittala temple in Hampi is truly a masterpiece from the secret holes carved on it, carving of a dinosaur, a weird carving which different age groups see differently, amazing musical pillars inside the temple. if it was in a western country it would have been wonder of the world.

Despite all and being one of the country having highest growth rate amongst all big economies , there is a survey from a western organisation.. that says Indians are one of least happier people in whole world.

@@ThoseHappyDays They said it was massive! They had gone up river especially to search for them. The local boatmen pointed them up river. There were also a few warning signs around not to swim. We as well as our kannadiga brothers and sisters will never forget the "battle of tallikota" or "Raksha thangadi" in 1565 . The beautiful city had been destroyed out of their religious zeal. I feel proud and sad at the same time when I see anything related to HAMPI . Maharadhiraja Krishnadevaraya ki jay ❤️

Fabulous beautiful India, beautiful people
Please visit Kailasa Temple at Ellora Caves in Maharashtra India. It's considered greatest architecture in history of mankind, because the way it was built seems unbelievable for even today’s time. The temple was built at least 1300 years ago. No stone or nothing was added they carved a mammoth Granite rock/mountain with intricate details. The Kailasa Temple is notable for its vertical excavation-carvers started at the top of the original rock and excavated downward. At least 400000 tonnes of stones have been removed in the process. About 7000 workers and their future generations worked for 135 years. One small mistake and you have to rebuild the whole temple because it's carved into the rock without adding anything, that too up to down.
It has secret underground tunnels believed to be leading to underground city which is even more mysterious and government have totally locked that down and no researchers are allowed to go inside.
During the reign of Mughal emperor, Aurangzeb, the temple was ordered to be demolished along with other temples nationwide.
For the task in 1682 he sent over 1000 labourers especially to destroy Kailasa Temple; they worked for over 3 years, but could barely manage to disfigure the statues here and there. It's the solid granite rock that's made so hard to destroy.
Despite of his repeated efforts to tear down Kailasa Temple, Aurangzeb did not found success. Finally he gave up on destroying this temple. This is the same person who has destroyed thousands of ancient temples in India but he could not destroy this one so you can understand the magnanimity of the temple.
other than Kailasa Temple there are 99 other cave temples there (100 total) of which 34 are open for public viewing. whole temple complex known at Ellora Caves.

You are welcome.. try to stay away from generic tourist places.. specifically Delhi.. go to south, north east.. and himalayas... North is overhyped.. they don't represent much of actual Indian culture of "athethee devo bhava".. and that's due to constant colonization over 1000 of years.. people has became rude, and scammy.. and it's coming from a North Indian..

I have travelled a lot throughout India and being Indian i got scammed, hackled and even once pushed out of Oyo hotel despite having confirmed booking.. now imagine a foreigner in a foreign country without the knowing the culture and language.. it's horrible experience i don't want anyone be Indian or foreigner to live.. never happened in south india.. south Indians from rural side especially are humble and honest... You can search "india scam" on yt and all/90% cases are from north India..

Hampi is one of the main attraction in the state of karnataka. it was once 2nd richest city in the world and the capital of Vijayanagara empire, now it's a village. although 95% of the place is destroyed due to invasion and rest are destroyed partially but still it is one of the most beautiful places ever. is also very calm and quiet place away from the busyness of the cities .

Hampi to Goa you have to travel westward, on the way you have two important historical places of Karnataka namely Badami and Bijapur. Please visit them if possible.
Gadag, Bagalkote, Yadgir, Raichur, Bellary, Bidar and Chitradurga some wonderful historical Cities and Districts in Karnataka State on the way to both Goa and Maharashtra State.

What a lovely story. What a shame you could not take Pete. Looks the part already. Open friends people, great place to live. Where I live, talking the strangers is seen as dodgy. I do it anyway… anyhow, stay happy and healthy.
In india we encourage people to talk to each other.. you will see it everywhere here... We believe in everyone having a good soul.. afterall human civilization were build up over interaction and unity and community...
One thing i perticularly find strange in foreigners is people are afraid to interact with children.. here people will flock to talk to to a 5years old child and smile/laugh on the innocence and straight forward or shy nature of a kid.. in foreign somehow it's a taboo.. i will never understand it..
@@shubhounofficial5125 totally true. I always go out of my way for children. Culturally though, some places do not like small talk and it is such a shame. I wonder how such people adapt when traveling. I like to make my neighborhood a nice place such as planting new trees and flowers in the street. But someone cut down my last project in 2022. All Districts in North Karnataka Region of Karnataka State- Bagalkote, Vijayapura, Gadag, Dharwad, Haveri, Belagavi, Bellary, Bidar, Kalaburagi, Koppal, Raichur, Vijayanagara and Yadgir are famous for their stunning landscapes and historical heritages which still remain one of the lesser known and road less travelled destinations across Southern part of India. @@pmf598 Koppal Fort is another important object of historical interest at Koppal. It is not known definitely by whom it was built. But it was acquired by Tippu Sultan, ruler of Mysore Kingdom in the year 1786 AD from a Paleyagar and rebuilt into one of the strongest forts with the help of French engineers. In May 1790, it was besieged by the forces of the British and the Nizam of Hyderabad Kingdom.

I not saying i agree with British in India but it was my ancestor so i went for visit , january 2016 . . .i could not find much history for Koppal Fort . At the top there is big old cannon , broken , with Arabic writing on it . . it was good visit . .20160128_120344.mp4
