Paul Smith: You know I think the movie should be called Demon Lawman because dan Aykroyd's character the J.P. Sheure is a demon lawman. And if Jim Henson didn't die in 1990 then he should direct it instead of Dan, even though he is a great director. What do you think it would be like?
After watching the film myself, I honestly didn't really get the negative reception towards it. I enjoyed it and appreciate the efforts of Dan Aykroyd. I really hope it gets a Blu Ray release soon.
This actually IS a funny, brutal, and utterly insane horror/comedy/Dan Ackroyd centric film that manages to be simultaneously and inexplicably endearing and repulsive. It's also one of the last likeable films that had Chevy Chase as lead. Plus JOHN CANDY. 'Nuff said.
This movie should be a cult classic i believe,i loved it no matter how good it gone in the freaking box office.Yeah might gave them nothing but trouble economically, but at the same time was really entertaining for some out there.Loved the cast, the creepy atmosphere, the jokes were pretty cool and had a good budget to make it stand out for something but trouble as the dude announces in the start of this video!
It's somewhat implied that Chevy Chase's character's great grandfather was the banker who ripped off the judges grandfather. Earlier in the movie Chevy mentions his grandfather was in coal commodities.
@@spamaccount5278 Yea, it was in the beginning when the Brazilian clients are trying to convince him to take a detour and he explains that the whole area is just abandoned coal towns
It took me like 10 years to figure out the name of this movie!!! I watched it when I was young and loved it, then never could find it or figure out what it was called. So happy I finally found it lmao
I only rediscovered this movie last year. It was rooted and dug deep into my brain, broken into shattered shards. For nearly the whole of my life I had vague memories of a creepy pig like family eating food around a table in a big old house, eating sausages specifically. When I came across this on youtube it literally felt like I have cracked the di vinci code haha I was a t the point where I assumed it was a childhood nightmare
*I remember liking this movie alot as a kid. It probably means I was a messed up kid, but slapstick is always fun, camp done right is a "hoot" and this movie nailed it. JoeBlo should do "One Crazy Summer" next. (cus Demi in shorts should not be missed)*
This came out when I was in my early 20s and I assumed everyone liked it . . . until I looked it up on imdb LOL. Still a great movie that is and will continue to be a cult classic.
You got the year wrong about when Dan Aykroyd got a DUI in South Carolina. It was in 1988 not 78. They were filming Driving Miss Daisy. But yeah, that was where he got the inspiration for Nothing But Trouble.
I remember looking for this movie last year and not finding it anywhere after someone used a clip of it in a video and I had a faint memory of watching this movie as a kid. 1 week later, it was on Brazilian Netflix. It was a fun rewatch and I'll totally watch it again in a few years if I find it.
The film that introduced us to then newcomer, the late great Tupac Shakur (who makes his acting debut in this movie. A few months later, he released his first album, 2Pacalypse Now). Also, Digital Underground’s Shock G (R.I.P.) made a cameo appearance in Nothing But Trouble.
I remember seeing this movie when it came out, I enjoyed every second of it and said "WHY Couldn't 'The Addams Family' Movie Have Been As Funny As This?". I still enjoy it to this day.
Always loved this movie, I remember seeing it as a kid, and bought it on DVD years ago on a nostalgic basis, it is still excellent, oddball, kooky, and fun.
Dude! This video was awesome on so many levels! I used to love this movie when I was a kid too! Plus all the extras you put in this video are amazing! Well done!
My sister and I loved this flick when it was on both HBO and Cinemax!!! Can believe this movie cost $40 million, and bombed hard!! Thank you Awfully Good Flicks for reviewing this underrated guilty pleasure!! If you need some AGF recommendations for 90's theme, here's a couple: Inspector Gadget, Escape from L.A., Spice World, Bordello of Blood, North, The Haunting. Can't wait for another great episode!!!
Thanks for this Jesse. Weird but entertaining movie. It’s funny, sometimes a movie is considered “bad”,but I remember this movie way more than 90%of the movies I’ve seen in my life.
i loved this movie. first found it about 20 years ago while i was in my early 20s. i couldn't understand why i hadn't heard of it sooner. it starred super successful actors and it was totally engaging. idk... maybe i had the media maturity of an 8 year old throughout my 20s, but i found it straight up entertaining. of course it is gross and ridiculous, but that's what it was going for and it's done well. despite the cheesy screenplay, pretty much everything else is on point, especially when you remember that there isn't a shitload of CGI
Saw this movie one night while spending the night at my grandparents house. I was maybe 6. It blew my mind. I’ve always remembered this wild movie that I saw 30 plus years ago and I had no idea what the name was.
As with most of the movies you review here (thank you, btw), this is yet another my sister and I rented all the time back in the day. This is starting to explain so much.. lol
So glad to see other people saw and enjoyed this film as a kid. It's not the greatest film but it's one you can't forget and it makes me laugh. It's one of my many guilty pleasures. 🤣😎
Yes, yes...yes, yes...thank you so much for doing this one. I have been waiting for you to talk about this movie, this is Aykroyd's little messed up brain-baby and it is so delightfully weird and fun. It's like it's a Tales From The Crypt movie that isn't part of the Crypt franchise, I wouldn't be surprised if this movie was the inspiration for the episode Death Of Some Salesmen with Tim Curry. This is one of the cases that every cast and crew member enjoyed working on - well everyone except Chevy.
I liked this movie as a kid, and as an adult I went on a hunt to find it because I remember it being awesome. I then apologized to my wife for spending 5.99 and asking her to watch it with me.
I was the same way. I thought it was a good movie as a kid and then I recently watched it and thought it was pretty bad. Definitely not one of the finer movies from Chevy, Demi, Dan, or John Candy.
This was one of those movies I discovered one night when I couldn't sleep on Cinemax. It was so off the wall I didn't know if I was still dreaming when I watched it. I never remembered it being in the theaters at the time. It's a real creepy movie from beginning to end.
THANK YOU! Boy howdy you would not believe how long this movie has been in my head but I could never remember who was in it or what the hell the movie was called! I fuckin loved this movie as a kid. Nostalgia trip here I come!

To me, it's Texas Chainsaw Massacre meets Abbott and Costello or the Three Stooges meets Motel Hell.
Great episode. Can't say I'm a fan of the movie but i always found it interesting. Though I would love to see an episode on Akroyd and Hanks' Dragnet movie from the 80s. I remember loving that movie but I haven't seen it in years.
Chevy Chase’s hairpiece should have at least gotten nominated for Best Supporting Actor for the work it did in this movie. It did a lot of heavy hitting.
My mom loved this movie as a kid and showed it to me when I was younger and I loved it too, Btw I’m 16 I felt like saying my mom liked it as a kid makes it sound like I’m 10, my mom was born in 1985.
Stumme-40203 Yeah you're still pretty young and so is your mom. Lol. Either way it's cool you 2 share a common interest in this hilarious but very odd movie.
I love this movie. I remembered it as a kid but for some reason I remembered the judge playing a riff from grandmaster flash's the message instead of digital underground.
The atmosphere and sets they made for the move were fantastic. There is something genuine about this movie that I like despite it's shortfalls.
R.I.P. Peter Aykroyd (writer of this one). Watching this 2 days after his passing.
I was young when I first saw this movie, and all I ever remember is...... I LOVED IT.
Please let him do an R-rated directors cut. This was one of the last great comedies of the 80’s comedy superstars.
Same here mate. My name Paul Smith too.l loved this film when l was a kid.
Jason Strom the footage exists but hasn’t seen the light of day.
I love this movie. I’m also praying that a director’s cut happens before I get old and die. This is one of my favorite 90s comedies period.
