I never actually believed they improvised all their songs and hoedowns and stuff like that. I just thought they had them planned out or at least a general rhyme to go along with already written up. Until I saw Wayne Brady in person at a convention. Somebody asked if he improvised all his songs from Whose Line Is It Anyway and he said yes then asked for a topic and just went on for like 2 minutes. It was insane.
I think that's why it's a running gag that they (particularly Ryan) hate hoedowns so much; it's all improv, so I've heard that if one of them messes up then they have to start all over again with a new topic, and it often happens several times in a row

Wayne Brady is seriously one of the best talents of all time. A fabulous singer, actor, and one of the funniest comics ever. Not to mention the fact that he can improv perfectly on the spot. I saw him when he was the lead in Kinky Boots and did a freestyle for like 15 minutes straight without pausing after the show. He’s absolutely incredible.

There’s so many hilarious moments in this, but one of my favorites is at 11:31 when he looks back at the crew because of what he’s about to say hahaha (and then looks at Drew right after). It’s great when Ryan, Colin and whoever the other guest that game is cracks up in background. He’s insanely talented and my favorite on the show.
