Do you have to register a Jon boat less then 14 feet if only using a trolling motor?

All motorized vessels used on public waters including vessels which use an electric trolling motor must be registered. This requirement also includes jet skis.

What is the requirement for the boater safety card?

Not exactly sure I know it on the their website, but it's if you were born after 83 or 87 you have to go through the boater safety class and get the card in order to operate a boat in NC on public waters

Any person born on or after January 1, 1988 must complete a NASBLA approved boating education course before operating any vessel propelled by a motor of 10 HP or greater.
