Hi Afzal, Great video as always. I was wondering if you could make more videos where you talk about some recent finance news like acquisitions and you give your thoughts and insights. I remember you did a video on Goldman Sachs acquiring NN investments and I learned a lot more than just reading the articles as you are someone who has worked in the IB industry and has a lot of hands on experience. I would appreciate if you could consider this for your next videos. Thanks.
I got the guide! I'm about to dive deep into this video but I have an inquiry about whether you could one day do a video for people who have an educational background in the liberal arts who desire to enter into business/management/finance careers? Who want to learn/develop and/or pivot into a career?
@@hendery3527 well I am only a finance undergrad myself but imma try to help you to the best of my knowledge. Most of these IB and HFs are looking for minds that are prompt, so basic 8th grade probability math sums are asked in interviews, Guesstimates is another thing to focus on, but mainly it boils down to your communication skills, how proficient you're with Ms office, Financial Modeling and learning macro economics. These things and specific concepts could be learnt via Investopedia, Zerodha Varsity, Corporate Finance Institute etc. You may find more guidance and steps at wallstreet oasis and The wall street skinny
Afzal, What are the requirements to achieve an interview in an equity research position? Is a masters degree required or is bachelors fine? What is the minimum grade?
An Msc helps a lot, I got into ER because of it and most of the 2-3 yoe analysts have one. However, there are many with just a bachelors degree that were able to land good internships before ER.
@@M-wd6uq hey!! People here have many different backgrounds. Nevertheless, since it worked for me, if I were you I would apply to every single ER internship offer from linkedin, efinancialcareers, etc.
Hey Afzal - great insights about core equity research analyst roles and responsibilities. I would like to add few more major points to cover public company EPS (Earning Per Share) historical performance minimum last three years analysis and forecasting. Along with company market capitalisation and enterprise value of the company.
thanks for this man much appreciated, always remember if you ever think of stopping the videos a lot of grateful ppl will be very upset haha,
