I think its important to highlight if your starting point is skinny its important to have a small surplus in order to build muscle for these tasks, or plateau will occur. I started out really skinny myself and couldnt understand why i didnt gain stronger. I was afriad to bulk because of how it might effected my relativ strenght. Now im 14kg heavier and never felt lighter and stronger. Nice video overall! 💪
Yep, I've always been the type to forget to eat. Upped my eating and added 6kg in 6 months 😊. Tried the restricted eating and fasting, in one way I felt good but couldn't increase in strength. The Ayurvedic system has some good recommendations on food and eating advice for body types.
Some of my best workouts happen when I haven't eaten in 40 hours or so. I become more flexible and have better balance, especially for handstand pushups and press handstands. Abdominal compression is way better too, so I can do skin-the-cats without my feet touching the bar. Yesterday, for the first time, I did an L-sit to handstand on blocks that were only 6 cm high. I definitely couldn't have done it with food in my stomach! Once I finished that session, though, it was time to eat!
4:21 "I won't go into what should you eat, or exactly what a gymnast eats, because it's pointless..." A few examples wouldn't hurt, considering the video's title.
Thanks Adam, great video and incredible advice. Just simple, clear and honest. I love your style and system of fitness. Thank you for all you do. You have helped me a lot and I am sure that you help many others too.
Great tips Adam, especially the questions you ask yourself before eating junk food. Another good tip before these temptations is to imagine your body as an organic machine and imagine what that food does to your inner workings. I bet you won't imagine a good result especially with junk food.
This very much echoes the ideas discussed by Michael Pollan in his ‘In Defence of Food’ book which is a great read. He states the book’s main idea which is ‘eat food, not too much, mostly plants’ and then goes quite in depth discussing how we as a society (he focuses on the US society mostly though) got into the current situation and why it may be suboptimal regarding public health, and what are the ways for an individual to eat well and to stay healthy.
Here in the US, we have a new official food pyramid chart for the public to reference and memorize. It was created by the Nutrition Departments of ivy league universities like Tufts and Harvard. It's brilliant! Even though I have a graduate degree in human nutrition, I never understood that a Reese's Peanut Butter Cup is actually 3 levels higher in nutrition then a organic chicken breast. Since you have significant influence over thousands of people around the world, Adam, you must study our guiding light document and spread the sage words of research scientists in the US who sold their souls. By the way, chocolate flavored Cocoa Puffs cereal is rated higher than fresh vegetables & all types of meat. If only more athletes knew these newly revealed secrets!
hey bro i was going crazy with the momentum and got in a serious car crash. SOMEHOW alive, my wrist is fractured and I am getting depressed that I cant train on my rings anymore :((((( Cardio, Abs & Legs incoming, any other suggestions?
Can you do a video about training with inguinal hernia or after hernia surgery, please? I just got diagnosed hernia and I think I will have to go through surgery soon.
It is not a one size fits all as individuals goals are different, dietary requirements too. I am in the ‘eat healthy’ high quality camp. Yet this approach might not always lead to one’s desired goals as I discriminate and eliminate some foods which my body could well use to get me to the aesthetics and weight I’d like. Folks wanting to achieve a desired physique would do well in self experimenting and acquiring knowledge from different sources to help them find best sustainable fit for them. Also taking tests to determine any deficiencies may help too. Happy training, eating and importantly resting!!!
Very interesting video 👍 I'm on a constant 18/6 schedule, but I wouldn't call it fasting, because in the course of the week I'm eating enough calories for maintaining my bodyweight, which is as it should be since I'm definitely lean enough, especially for my age of 53, and currently I don't want to risk losing muscle mass.
@@GymnasticsMethod 👍Sure will do! (Also, have already been doing so for nearly two years by now, with a few exceptions due to social events, of course, which were absolutely worth it.)
A lot of foods may not contain anything harmful at first glance but then you look at the health list thing and see “16 grams of sugar” on a food meant for healthy eating that’s only a single meal.
A really short and also intense preach😁👍 Great You nailed it precisely and bust some myth. Thanks for this reminder. More and more i read labels. Once i studied only for fun vegan meat label 😳😝 ultra processed crap

@@vladcraioveanu233I...can't tell if you understood, but the commenter you're replying to was being sarcastic.

Sorry but, you should bring some meal examples!
Absolutely! We need more details, this is far too vague. Give some examples of existing meal plans.
So much knowledge
Gracias adam esta informacion es muy buena .
Can you plz share your full day of eating it helps a lot..
Can you do a video about training with inguinal hernia or after hernia surgery, please? I just got diagnosed hernia and I think I will have to go through surgery soon.
Talk to a therapist about your soecific case!
Do you recommend hitting certain macros? Like 1g of Protein per gram of body weight?
Or do you just listen to your body and eat light?
Great video, as always!
If I do intermittent fasting, can I chew a chewing gum in the fasting period?
If it’s calorie free yes

Loaded stretching routine please
Do you track your micros like you get enough protein, carbs etc.
A lot of people eat a lot of what they want and not enough of what they need
Can you tell how gymnasts eats in free time when they dont do sports or they have a break from training for a week or 2
Routine, system and consistency are important. Not the week or two break.
How many grams protein per kg bodyweight? Or is it not relevant for a gymnast?
this guy is a gold mine

Thanks ✌️
Basically you do not eat 😂 otherwise you will become more of a bulking bodybuilder 😅 .
Hhh 😂yeah hhh a gymnastics guys are a super human 😅
So basically, if you live in america, you're screwed. Got it.
Cool tips, but without macros we can't even start
Yeah. There are levels
@@GymnasticsMethod but do you plan to share the macros used by gymnasts?
Most people eat way more food than they need. Gymnasts have low body fat, as do healthy people in general. You won't see many fat 90 year old people.
GMO containing plants are absolutely normal as a food.
😄
Why are you so sarcastic? You're acting like someone forced you to make the video.
