Good evening, just a FYI note... @ 7:18 when you are talking about scanning the vehicle... and not having the vehicle running... it is possible with this unit... but what I've noticed with newer cars than 2012... with lots of systems to scan... please try to have a battery maintenence or trickle charger installed. If you look into the right corner... you will see the battery voltage fluctuate between 13.02 & 12.5 volts... if your vehicle has a weak battery or lots of computers to check on a full system scan... the low battery will cause other codes to appear without the car running.

I have that same scan tool and it did pull a pin number on 2008 Grand Cherokee.

Thanks for the comment. Which menu is the option listed? I have looked around it, but don't see where it can pull a pin, at least for the Ram we had it plugged into.

This is a great video. Lots of good info. I'm coming back to it tomorrow to finish it. Would you recommend this scanner for use in the U.S even though it's an international model?

I currently use this scanner in the US with no issues. It covers US and international models and makes of vehicles.

​@solargarage No.... I think what he's referring to is that if you brought this unit from like Ebay or Amazon, it's a Chinese Launch company.... and if you had an issue or wanted technical support... Launch USA doesn't recognize these units and will call it a knock off Launch. I've had mine for about 2 months and don't regret it... just takes a bit of a learning curve to master.. so don't pay attention to these first time mechanics just using it for a week or just regurgitating what they hear on the internet as facts.

@@dennismelville7532 thanks for the reply. I actually bought a u.s. market one. Has a lot of features, only bad thing are the horrendous translations. There are some delicate hot functions translated with the wrong terminology or double negatives which makes the use of this launch feel downright dangerous

@@supersabrosinho 🤣🤣 I know what you mean... I tried to program key fobs for an old Hyundai.... and it took a couple tries to locate the correct screen to program them in.... and the error message I was getting felt like I would of wiped the computer clean if I would of agreed to those clicks. After about 10mins... found the right IMMO option and done the 2 new fobs in under a minute. Great tool and I'm happy... just going to take a minute to understand it's learning curve.

Wish I had an answer for you, not sure as I have only used the X431 with the TPMS tool as fare as external devices.

Hard to say I would need to have access to a Launch Pad V, to be able to compare against the X431 that I currently have.

I use the X431 more than the D8. The D8 I use mostly for pin code scanning.

where do i find the odometer function (to read the mileage)
the older models had it in the Service Function but i cant find it on this one

That is a lot to take in. If you make changes does it hold what the original values were so that you can revert to them without having to keep notes ? Wonder if there is a jack so that you can plug your capture device in and have it be automatically full screen. Would have been great to run the engine and see the individual cylinder events in real time like the old Sun units ! Best days and a great Thanksgiving to you and yours 👍

That would be a hard question to answer. It really all depends on what functions you are looking for in a scanner, vehicles you need to cover, as well as your preference on features.
