The only thing I am confident of is that, despite possibly being a new VA, it is a character we already know. Otherwise, there would be no reason to cover his identity, much less tease it like that, cutting off the trailer just as he is removing his hood.
I think the tease just is there to show the fans which already played X that there is additional Story Content and not still only a Cliffhanger. Makes More sense.
@mattgezockt2596 Absolutely, but I still think the way they are teasing it with removing the hood and cutting it right before we see who it is points me to believe we already know the character.
I think you are way too confident about that. Its just a common trailer tactic to draw you in. Double in this case because its to tease more story content.
My dude, I had actually been thinking it might just Lao. Hearing the Japanese VA comparison definitely reinforces this idea for me. Can't wait to see more XCX content.
Won't say I think the black knight is Malos, but I wasn't looking at the screen during the end of the trailer, and I will say my immediate reaction upon hearing "Fancy seeing you here" was "Wait are they adding Malos to this?" I don't really see how some people are saying the two sound nothing alike
Yeah I don’t think it’s Malos either and honestly probably isn’t even David Menkin but my first reaction was that it sure sounded a lot like him. Though it’s such a short line it’s probably impossible to be sure who the VA is.
While I personally think it's Lao (a clone or copy of him, if not the original himself), I'm afraid we all must admit the truth: it's a common variety nopon.
I swear people thinking JP VA's can't voice act is a wild assumption. I'll wait till we get closer to release for some more trailers, but I'm betting on Logos, not Malos.
I’m betting the new voice actor is a relative of Keiji Fujiwara. I know that in Japan companies tend to hire relatives in order to voice characters once a voice actor passes away but so far I haven’t found any information on Keiji Fujiwara’s personal life.
I have three theories on who the Black Knight could be: 1. Elma's old friend that saved the White Whale when the Ghosts caught up to them, as mentioned in-game 2. Maybe not Malos specifically, but someone that the Conduit based Malos on. With Elma's appearance changed to resemble Ontos a bit, it may be possible that some researchers on the Conduit had "bonded" with the cores of the Trinity Processor, influencing the forms we see them take in 1 and 2. The Black Knight DOES sound like Dave Menkin here, and this theory also would tie into the "Blades bonding with Drivers" concept of 2 3. It's a J-Body of Lao that the higher-ups had made, possibly to replace Lao after he betrayed humanity. The J-Bodies never got explained further than in Yelv's affinity missions, and that was the prime example of not only cloning but also the memory manipulation that they were doing in secret. They were implanting memories and essentially creating people that never existed before but had full backstories/history; wouldn't surprise me that their J-Body of Lao escaped or something (I also think that Cross is a J-Body too but that's a theory for another day lmao)
it become a common practice for xenoblade series: you have main story, but actually you have continuation to it with DLC, that's kind of a second game. I like were the game is going. We need explanations for how humanity is still alive, and how Lao is there, who is that guy... also ouroboros crystals people are correlating, maybe this is coincidence? 10 years of doubts
Or he could be the ‘unknown hero’ that was mentioned in the introduction and confronted the ganglion before the white whale stranded, he was Elma's acquaintance and the only thing that was known apart from the introduction is that before stranding he pulled Elma out of the skell they were on, but apart from that nothing else is known.
My best guess is based on the following information: -It's a new voice actor, so a character we haven't heard before -It's probably a pre-established character, thus the need to hide the face -they're a male who know who Lao is Only one pre-established character in X fits all these criteria, and that's the Lone Hero. Now the only way this could be wrong imo is either if they're NOT a pre-established character, or they're a character from outside X. But even then, how many non-voiced important characters exist in the Klaus trilogy? So my best bet is Lone Hero, second place is a so far unknown character. EDIT: After watching your video, I do think that's possible. It's really tough to tell if the English VAs are the same, however (I'm not really good at picking out distinctions, though, so it could just be me) so I'm not quite sold. One possibility is that the planet itself is like some kind of hyper-advanced lifehold meant to keep endangered species alive, so maybe the planet itself is Origin from Xenoblade 3, who knows?
The VA sounds super familiar to me. As I tried to figure out whom I am reminded of by the Voice I ended up at Matthew Mercer being the closest out of all the ones I could think of. There are a few others that I thought sounded similar but the more I compare those the more I'm sure that they aren't it. Meanwhile I can't not hear the similarity to Matthew Mercer. I am unsure though as there is something that is also ever so slightly different but I have not played X. Why can I differentiate Matthew Mercer voicing Chrom, Ryoma and Shigure while still recognizing it's all him but can't 100% make up my mind here.
I think the simplest explanation is that it's Elma's friend, the unnamed Hero, who everyone thought died above Mira before the White Whale crashed. In my perspective, the distinct lores of the Klaus saga and X's universe are too different to reconcile them and put them in the same timeline, but you could easily connect them with Conduit multiverse stuff. And I think it's likely the new story will at least touch on that, if not dive into it. I just don't think this character is going to be a full crossover. I'd be happy to be proven wrong, though...if he's somehow connected to Logos in any way, I'm super interested to see where that goes.
Yeah thats gotta be matt mercer. Im not so sure anymore the black knight could be an alternate logos form, but i do still think logos is directly involved with the lifehold, since origin was created in 3 using data from ontos as the frame work. It makes sense the lifehold would also be based on an aegis in the new trailer lao's eye texture changes to be more natural suggesting this lao is the original biological lao. Meaning the black knight could be using a mimeosome identical to lao. I forget if it was ever confirmed or not, but i think the black knight could likely also be Elma's partner, and the reason he took a lao mim was to go unnoticed, at least til lao became the center of attention and he had to start obscuring himself in the black cloak. Maybe its a logos alter ego hopping into other peoples mims, or maybe logos shows up somewhere totally different, if at all. But pneuma and ontos have already shown that theres nothing impossible about duplicating or splitting aegis'. I just dont think lao himself is a logos persona since lao's whole motivation was his family that got left behind.
The question is, do we get only a few hours of additional content like XCDE, with Future connected, that added barely 10-20 hours (which would still be good), or do we get something similar to Torna/Future redeemed?
(Sorry for my bad english)Im have another theories. im test different voice and found 2 possible people for a black cape man, One Is a Yelv, to my video compareted the voice and it s a very similar , the another voice Is a main charter voice Rebel
According to some spculations that Black knight maybe the real human Lao not a mim, hence he wore that black high tech armour body suit, he use to be a hero fighting to protect earth and after earth's destruction he helped the ganglions which the ganglions calling him the great one. And in another theory that Earth is not destroyed rather than it got divided into the Xenoblade 1 and 2 universe as Clause activated the conduit.
Honestly, it would be kinda hilarious to just randomly have Malos here. Like, bro just decided to go to a seemingly random location in the multiverse to investigate the results of the "people were thrown into diffrent worlds"-thing(It still seems like a decent assumption that these enigmatic creator people were originally some of the missing people from mainline-earth) and be part of some bigger conflict that originally has nothing to do with him. But I just don't see how that really does make any sense logically. When exactly was bro traveling the multiverse and seemingly getting to know people? Last time we knew, he spent all his time in Alrest before Xenoblade 2 and is still dead since the end of the game. There is currently not enough connective tissue in the main universe narrative for such a reveal in the X universe to be believable. Of course, they could just retcon the X universe and mainline universe to be one and the same(bad, plz not) and gloss over the bits and pieces that clash, sorta like how it happened with the 1 to 2/3-transition. Then this entire comment would essencially be outdated because it would automatically render the whole "X is connected on a multiversial basis"-theory obsolete. And yeah, the "Lao himself"-idea is also kinda dope. I'd much rather have them do that than them trying to retcon more of the series into a mush because they want it connected but are just unwilling to canonize multiversial stuff.

Also the most likely case currently for the black knight might be him being the lone hero talked about but that would remove cross possibly being the lone hero from the theory list. Hopefully we don't have to wait long for some more info since X really needs some good marketing and deserves a second chance.
