Kent v Lancashire, 1995 B&H cup final. Kent in a bit of a tight situation, "Ari" wanders in, looks casually around, takes guard, first ball walloped into the Mound Stand. Defend one, then same treatment again to the third. His performance that day made me put a small sum in Sri Lanka to win the next World Cup. Turned out to be a good call, did that! 😊
Well it's often said that if you needed someone to bat for your life you'd choose Brian Lara. Though I reckon if it were my life I'd put up some prize money and choose Aravinda. Almost a quarter of his tests were against Wasim, Waqar and co yet his average doesn't do justice to his impact. I'm sure there was a video of his belting all the best fast bowlers back over their heads with back foot drives.Truly one of the greats. Personally I think there's a touch of genius in his spin bowling too. Can't count the number of times I've watched him crossing the line with drift against Gilchrist ( champions trophy final I think?). Would only work against a really good player and I'm pretty sure he knew that. Come to think of it, now that I'm an old fat git I might have to dig out his later tour to England. :)
Aravinda and kallis are very underrated and unsung technical gems... Worshipping Sachin and Shane made these superb players undervalued in terms of their talent.
As a person who was born in the early 2000s, I didn’t have the luck to see him perform live. However, I have seen many experts and legendary cricketers from Sri Lanka name him as the best batsman that SL has ever produced. Apart from some footages showing his popular knocks, I couldn’t find any detailed videos that explain how magnificent he was! Kudos for making this a tribute to the legend and letting the world know more about this underrated legend! I discovered your channel a few months ago and I always wanted to ask you to make a video on Mad Max. Glad you did. Keep it up, I really love your work!
The difference between him and players like tendulkar was he was a genuine match winner and a big match player. He was one of the main reasons srilanka won the 1996 world cup. If aravinda scores the team wins whereas Sachin has many hundreds where the team has lost
@@sauron2000000 what's the use of centuries without helping your team win. Plus aravinda was a rich businessman at the time so he couldn't give his all to cricket.
@@akfashnazir9673half of india team was medicore plus don't talk about bowling india if win in 90s it's because of Sachin same for Lara if west indies wins because he scored till natwest india only win because of Tendulkar
He never did his freak talent justice because cricket was a hobby for him when SL cricket wasnt yet professional. But when its go time he came into form.
Hey Cricket Lovers🏏, what is your favorite memory of Aravinda de Silva?

Sachin is daridra for india
Probably because he did not hit many centuries.

Cricket Stories, why wasn't Aravinda de Silva a great captain like Arjuna Ranatunga for Sri Lanka in cricket, please let me know.
Aravinda de silva is a great cricketer. He is a cricketer comparable to Sachin Tendulkar and Lara
