@@virajdhananjayadinuviraj I believe we are limited to focus only on World Cup. The way it was mentioned best ever batsman produced by Asia, we have to be little more broadly considering all formats especially test matches. For me Sunil Gavaskar is the best ever test batsman produced by Asia and one of the bests in world and Sachin easily the best ever in one day format. I really agree the innings Aravinda played against India in the semi finals was one of the best innings ever in world cups and the century in finals was also great. But we should be looking more than one World Cup.

Every word was gold there! Applies to all athletes! Go Aravinda! I remember walking back from school and my family was watching the semis and even though we were rooting for india, first thing my aunt told me was “Aravinda de Silva walked in and played beautifully and hit so many boundaries”. What a player!

I respect Sachin Tendulkar but this man on his peak days was slightly better. Better under pressure, better stroke maker, more match winning ability, far better to watch. If he was born in India he would of been the goat. Sadly he never really cared about cricket and lacked discipline.

A cricketer who idolized and copied Viv Richards ,his bowling action seemed the same but his battling had a class of its own ,which was masterblasting without slogging just like Richards. He ,Richie Richardson and Micheal Slater were the last breed of batsmen who could hook a bowler without fear of getting out an attribute which was absent from greats of 90s like Lara,Tendulkar,M Waugh and inzaman with fear of getting out while hooking . Really miss these breed of batsmen who were fearless in a game when bat and ball both had a fair fight, now it's a batsmen game only

I remind this to my son who is always worried of getting out as a batsmam: Sun Tzu said Know the enemy and know yourself in a hundred battles you will never be in peril. When you are ignorant of the enemy but know yourself, your chances of winning or losing are equal. If ignorant both of your enemy and of yourself, you are certain in every battle to be in peril.
