Immediately I see Caramilk, Coffee Crisp, Bear Paws and Joe Louis. Can confirm she raided an average Walmart or Metro up here for these.
Edit: Aero and even mentioning candy cigarettes, nice.

*candy sticks. For good boys and girls.

I still remember when Kinder did an Asterix and Obelix series for Kinder Eggs, and how my family would go out of our way to buy a few every chance we could to try and complete the set. I think we had nearly everything and were just missing a few pieces.
I dont think anyone who isnt german or french know asterix and obelix 😂
Mint doesn’t taste like toothpaste toothpaste taste like Mint!
Nuh uh
As a German, I am proud that they eat Kinder Surprise Eggs and offended that they call them Canadian snacks.
All Canadian V tuber I watched doing snacks streams call them Canadian schokolade, Capri sun apparently canadian too. XD
As an American, I remember many years ago going to Nova Scotia on a road trip and discovering they had giant kinder egg shaped displays full of hundreds of loose kinder eggs, and I literally spent over 150 bucks on kinder eggs to smuggle back to the US because I both loved the chocolate and also loved the toys. There were things like little metal people representing various chess pieces, that sort of thing. It was awesome!
I am convinced there is a conspiracy to keep true kinder eggs from coming to the US, because they would dominate the country and bring peace to the world
@@AStandsForFrench you are a funny one XD
As a fellow German I have to ask: you are aware that Ferrero is an Italian company, right?

“I really love mint” -Matara
Lol, I remember the Aero commercials "The bubbles are melting".
These snacks are all my childhood. Celebrations are the best for making smores on the camp fire
4:01 Matara: I really love mint
It wasn't Kidner Surprise eggs that the suit was about. It was a similar product here in the States called Wonder Ballz. I believe the choking suit wasn't the main reason for the ban, as there were warning labels saying to not give to children under 5 years (which the child in that case definitely was). It was the FDA banning the use of non-foodsafe plastics in such products.
There was a tradition in the United States to have Christmas cake with little plastic baby Jesus in them and whoever got the Jesus was suppose to have good luck. Several kids died choking on these baby Jesuses and putting non edible objects inside food was banned.
@@BrotherAlpha you can still get them
Kinder Eggs can still be imported into the U.S.
I'm so glad Matara got to bring over some of the delicious snacks for Giri away from home lol. Yuzu should come on a food tour in Montreal here sometime lol
I still remember as a kid when I bought a mirage bar and the machine that was supposed to make the air bubbles in it didn’t work for that one, so I had a pretty sizable bar of solid chocolate, you can imagine my disappointment when I bought a second one later on and that one had bubbles so like four times less chocolate
Watching them eat Whippets is bringing me back to visiting my grandmother in Montreal and her offering me a whippet while telling me the story of my grandfather nearly going blind fixing the roof of the whippet factory in the 50s. Also I can't believe they had Joe Louis without pepsi, it's a stereotype but it definitely slaps.
Lived in Germany as a kid for a couple years. I used to get kinder eggs all the time. The chocolate isn't the best but I still love the taste. It's my favorite candy ever. Sadly I live in the states. I wish I had a Canadian friend who could smuggle me done hehe.
as a french person it's funny how some of these are very similar to what we have in france but not quite!
Needed some Hawkins Cheesies for some salty content. Perhaps Vachon's Passion Flakie for another Vachon cake, and maybe some ketchup and all dressed chips.
100%
If you find a yellow or blue feather in there. That's probably just Doki and kronii
I remember being a kid and getting triggered when my kinder surprise had a jigsaw puzzle instead of a toy 😆
Never realized these were Canadian, I just knew they are my childhood.
a pox upon Nestle for discontinuing the mint kit-kats!
Pox on Nestlé in general :P
@@DrunkenDemon

The last time moldy momo was on screen.

Candy cigarettes are something I'd forgotten. Had the look of chaulk and the ones we'd get tasted odd. But I enjoyed them.
Love these three together. Always fantastic.
Mata went in on those grapes. You know the cat vibing to music? Mata is the cockroach vibing to intrusive thoughts.
To all Americans that are saying that Kinder Surprise are not illegal in the U.S.A here's the quote from Wikipedia: "United States
A 1938 law, the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act, prohibits confectionery products that contain a "non-nutritive object", unless the non-nutritive object has functional value.[35] Essentially, the Act bans "the sale of any candy that has embedded in it a toy or trinket". In 1997, the staff of the Consumer Product Safety Commission examined and issued a recall for some Kinder Surprise illegally brought into the US with foreign labels. The staff determined that the toys within the eggs had small parts. The staff presumed that Kinder Surprise, being a chocolate product, was intended for children of all ages, including those under three years of age. On this basis, the staff took the position that Kinder Surprise was in violation of the small parts regulation and should be banned from importation into the US. Kinder Surprise eggs are legal in Canada and Mexico, but are illegal to import into the US. In January 2011, the US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) threatened a Manitoba resident with a 300 Canadian dollar fine for carrying one egg across the US border into Minnesota. In June 2012, CBP held two Seattle men for two and a half hours after discovering six Kinder Surprise eggs in their car upon returning to the US from a trip to Vancouver. According to Joseph Cummings of Seattle, Washington, one of the men detained, a border guard quoted the potential fine as "$2,500 per egg". In 2012, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) re-issued their import alert stating "The embedded non-nutritive objects in these confectionery products may pose a public health risk as the consumer may unknowingly choke on the object". Kinder Surprise bears warnings advising the consumer that the toy is "not suitable for children under three years, due to the presence of small parts", and that "adult supervision is recommended". As of 2017 Kinder Joy eggs, a similar product, are being sold in the United States. Instead of a toy being encased in a chocolate egg, it is in an egg-shaped package with the toy and chocolate separated. Kinder Surprise eggs are still illegal in the USA but remain popular on the black market." Note that even with the ban in effect there are stores that are selling them illegally for a long time now
For the love of Jesus, here in America they are very exaggerated, like $2500 for each egg. Does the government really think that its citizens are so stupid that it has to ban chocolates with a toy inside?
@@GianfrancoBelliniRojas have you ever known a kid who took their job as a whole night or way too seriously? Well I think I know where they go when they grow up
Who ITAFH gives *candy* to a sub 3 year old?! The same ones who leave kids in cars on hot, sunny days?
"We can do whippets next" Holy fuck I now want to see vtubers on nitrous
Thank you, I didn't want to be the one to make that comment. I was beginning to think I'm just old, (which I am) but damn. That's a completely different thing for me

I love to grate mint Aero into a hot chocolate over the top of mini marshmellows and await them are melting together!
Mirage was more prevalent in other areas in the 80s and 90s. I'm from Manitoba and it was one of my preferred candy bars, but now it's harder to find here.
They have smore celebration cookies, they are great.
Kinder Surprise, what a throwback. I remember putting together a small red scooter with working wheels.
I wished I kept it to use for posing some of my gacha figs from japan...
Loved kinder surprises as a kid. Still buy them for my wife once in a while
Any other brits watching this and just seeing a lot of our own snacks rebranded? Except the Aero that’s still the same.
Yes
@Scharfster wait we own Canada again? AT LAST THE EMPIRE RETURNS! Quickly chaps to the galleys we got work to do
Always did.
@@lordchappington6724 not in the formal sense it's just that Canada likes to wear the collar out of nostalgia
@@k96man darn. One day they will be bought back in to the fold. Once we figure out how.
I'm a coffee crisp fan, I could swear that it has gotten sweeter over the years.
oh god , the Aero , i miss that stuff i have not had that in ages.
BUG MOTHER HAND ???? SLAANESH JUST TOOK ME RIGHT NOW...WE ARE CHAOS UNDIVIDED!!!!
A lot of the sweets and chocolate in the video I'm so used to seeing in the UK, had no idea they were also in Canada!
It's because unlike America, Canada has kept it's ties with the British Crown.
Man yall are make me so homesick.. I was raised in New Brunswick until I was about 12 and ive had all of these.. Im stuck in Texas now and Id kill for a Jos Louis and Oh Henry. My mother used to make homemade Oh Henrys for the holidays too, but she hasnt been able to since her health started declining. I need to get her recipe and try to pick up the tradition
TIL Matara lives in Quebec 👀. Vive le Québec 😁!
Aero.
Do you let the bubbles melt?
CLEAR AND VIVID MEMORIES OF THOSE COMMERCIALS.
I heard Whippets and thought of something completely different lol my bad.
Western Canadian here: none of these are Quebec exclusive, you can pick them up at Canadian Walmart (separate corp, it's weird), (the real canadian) Superstore, and local dollaramas. Mirage bars are my current favourite chocolate bar (some context is that I can't have most chocolate bars due to wheat or barley being present), I exclude reese's cups from the category since they literally aren't in bar form.
Matara is from QC ? that's kinda sick so am I :) Kinda disappointed that you didn't make them try Ketchu Lays tho
Damn QC'ers lol, I agree it is funny to see people's reaction to ketchup chips.
@Gronmin right ? It's always the same thing: "eww ketchu chips how weird ... wait a minute this is delicious" 🤣
Surely the canadian chip would be the all-dressed?
old dutch is ten times better
@Zanpaa they are, I just didn't mention them but normally the Canadian chips trio is: Lays Ketchup + Lays Salt&Vinegar + Ruffles All Dressed
i like how fast the chat's moving and you can tell everyone's paying attention cuz you can sort of see the input lag as they grow more distant from where they're broadcasting from. like Matara says "type 1 if you've had this east canada treat before", a few 1s right away and then the 2s start to flow in and there's more 2s than 1s. also the Oh Henry i thought was included in Henya's care package because of the Oh Henry made with Reese's peanut butter and you included a few regular Oh Henrys for the compare and contrast. maybe its better product maybe its just the overflow like you eat 12 types of Reese's and then have something that tastes different, it makes you go "Oh Wow"
We have most of these in NZ, but that coffee crisp one sounds soooo good. Wish we had that here

Here in Manitoba, I grew up on Jos Louis and almost everything else the ladies sampled 😋 except Bear Claws, I don't remember eating those until I was older. They're nice if you prefer soft cookies instead of crunchy or crisp ones.
And I'm sure I still have a collection of Kinder Surprise toys stashed somewhere, little cars and planes and such 😊
The green Aero reminds me of Reptar bars from Rugrats.
There is a strawberry version wich is awesome and taste like strawberry milk.
fellow Americans you can get just about all of these in the states too(import stores like world market) other than the dollar store one or the ORIGINAL kinder (they have been remade in a new form for us markets)
I enjoy mints but i don 't know about the one that taste like toothpaste (or people got messed up taste buds), can't go wrong with the york peppermint paddies and the andy mints (won't be surprised if these are also the mints that olive garden serves you after your meal).
>Canadian snacks
>Kinder surprise
What
That's the surprise
They're sold in every convenience and grocery store here. It's a Canadian childhood staple.
American version was changed due to FDA rules on the toys being inside the candy
Kinder Surprises were so cool back when I was a kid. Actually being able to build the toys. Though, there were a lot of puzzles in them thay just sucked.
Aero and kinder are good. We have them in NZ.
Three middle ages auntie hangout together is so wholesome 🥹
They totally still make those Popeye candy cigarettes. I've seen them in a candy store just down the street.
12:20 well that escalated quickly
The mirage looks like a Cadbury wispa.
was thinking that as well
It's less that they're afraid that kids will choke on the toys (though that is part of it), and more just that banning a toy or other hard plastic item encased inside of food falls under how food adulteration laws are written in the US. So the same laws that ban putting sawdust into bread or plaster into instant mashed potatoes also happen to slap down Kinder Eggs, and they aren't going to rewrite them for one candy item made by some company in another country
There's specific carve outs for items that aid in consumption, like the sticks in suckers or popsicles, but having a non-food thing just encased inside of the food is banned, even if it's a prize
You can tell Mata has a sugar rush when her model’s eyes are blinking at different times lol
ive never heard someone pronounce aero the way matara does
11:35 might be moonpies youre talking about.
Matara just caressing Giri's grapes on camera :3
by the sound of their conversation.. they already knew canadian snacks?
Oh henry is good. Its very similar to Babyruth which was all i had in Philippines back in the day because it was my Grandmothers favorite chocolate bar.
I havent had a caramilk or oh henry in so long, what about other snacks besides candy? Get some ketchup and all dressed chips, maybe even some hickory sticks
Also i forgot about the Joe Louis!! They also had the half moons, basically a flat twinkie
All have pointy heads
Kinder surpises back in my day were good as well. I'm talking 80-'s early 90s. They used to be elaborate things you could put together. As I started to grow out of them, they had shifted to shitty 2 piece things at best, or statues/figures. Last I remember they were smurf-figurines. This was early 90's
Dark chocolate celebration cookies go hard. Top tier cookies.
Darn google won't tell me what Matara inflation is.
My Dad adores Coffee Crisp-he buys them by the case on Amazon. I may have to see if I can hunt down Mirage bars for him tom try now!
Easily my favourite chocolate bar. Too bad it's made by one of the most evil companies.
@@BrotherAlphaWorse yet, Coffee Crisp got cheapened and now it tastes pretty bad
Mirage bars look exactly like Cabury Wispa from UK.
Matara mispronouncing Aero like it's helping their nephew look for the Avatar. Also, Mirage being a dollar store brand is hilarious to me since it and Aero are both made by Nestle and I'm fairly certain is probably the same chocolate just in different molds.
My god hearing matara speak an impeccable french is always so weird for a French like me, SHE HAS NO ACCENT, MY BRAIN HEAR A FRENCH PERSON ! I WANT THAT TYPE OF FLUENTIA !
Kinder egg surprise is actually Italian, not Canadian according to Wikipedia and kinders main website
Ah, I see Mata has the short claws on today!
Also, most of those snacks I recognise from here in the UK.

there used to be a muti flavored carmilk that my mom liked. i only vagely remember it thought.
They don't make it anymore :(
and no Mr Big?
Or dare cookies?
that coffee crisp is a solid 8 inches
Coffee Crisp is Canadian? Y'all are missing out
18:59 Western Canadian here, it wasn't just eastern Canada
Yes, yes we are. Smuggled one in across the border, and it was pretty damn good.
Dollarama mentioned 🎉🔥🎉🔥🎉🔥🎉🔥🎉🔥🎉🔥
Yeah. Kinder eggs are a thing here in Hungary too and back in the day the toys were literally handpainted and very high effort. Now they are very simplistic and cheaply made.
"I'm not french, I'm big boobs!"
Also the Pattes d'ours and other stuff like this, yeah they were bigger when we were kids, but we also were smaller so everything seemed bigger!
Oh Henry is the best!
used to love Mirage bars, they weren't always a dollar store bar, you could find them everywhere when I was a kid
Still the same they are everywhere might be an ontario thing
11:20 I think she's talking about wagon wheels.
I thought she was talking about swiss rolls, another vachon snack that is chocalate cake roll with a cream filling that is in the shape of a spiral
@@satsukiyamikisho I meant when they were talking about the one with marshmallow.
@@braydenj03i got too hung up on the swirl and swiss rolls are the only canadian treat i could think of like that, but thinking about the swirl design she was probably misremembering wagon wheels slightly and thought they had the same outside as a hostess cupcake since thats the only other snack in north america i could think of that matches the description, but yes its likely a wagon wheel
alot of dollarma cholate is European cholate if you read the packaging

Damn matara still got the full Joe louis while the ones ive been seeing recently are now half 😢
Me counting calories since may (with great success!), and here they chomp down on all this goodness... sigh. I want New York cheesecake, now!
Just started last week and I already feel you there!
Jos Louis are so good, but I swear they were bigger when I was younger.
And not in a "Your hands were just smaller back then" kinda way.
A lot of those changed from when we where little.

The mr.big are pathetic now, the toffee inside is almost gone.

I keep forgetting Onigiri got a different model and was wondering who that was in the thumbnail
Matara has some really nice hands.

I like a Peppermint Crisp over Aero.
You know what they call Wippets in Australia? Chocolate Royale. Something about the metric system...
Mirage is basically nestles version of the cadbury wispa, celebration wafer is a blue riband ( but coffee flavoured) the smore cookie is a schoko leibniz,
1 for both regular and the SUPER Jos Louis. Most Vachon cakes you can find super single versions of at Dollarama.
I have never had the opportunity to freeze one like a Pop Tart... mostly cuz people don't ask and eat my things without asking. One day maybe...
Fellow Canadian, but west coast. Can say for 100% we got all that as well, and I've tried it as well. Bear Claws are indeed the bottom option presented here, and Jos Louis are top tier.
OH, the not actually chalk stick cigs with Popeye. I remember those.
Pro tip - Joe Louis in the freezer for 15-30 minutes. TOP TIER.
Jos Louis was not named after the boxer but after the creator's two sons (Joseph and Louis)
