Another brilliant review Philip! Of the half a dozen reviews I’ve watched today yours is the first to make me consider buying one. The geese won me over.
I attached the previous generation Insta360 ONE X to my Go Kart when I did a Mari Kart drive with my daughter and her husband around Shibuya earlier this year. It did a pretty good job.
Trust me Chris, a 360 camera on a stick is too amateur "selfie-stick-ish" for a self respecting content/video producer. You'll get the Kanto punks catcalling you! Great review though, & yes I still use the last gen model. Philip, what was that catcall at 19:42 ? He wanted to get a selfie with you but what " common ______ man" are you? :D Your expression of disgust is hilarious!
This earned my sub. I know everything about this camera already, and I was just browsing around to see other creators' perspectives. I got hooked and fell in love with your video style. Well done sir.
Best review of the Insta360 one X2! Wasn’t even considering this camera. I’m still not going to buy it... but I just had to watch it for 23 min because of the amazing piece of art! Thanks Philip.
What a thoroughly well-spent 2 hours! Hugely entertaining, creative and informative. And I like the way you pixelated the number plate of your unique, bright yellow, left-hand drive, little Fiat boat, in order to preserve its anonymity @ 04:58 ;)
Thank you for the honest review! I appreciate you explaining the sharpening and the noise in low light with this camera, most people do not mention that!
A great little video. One of those rare kit reviews that's very enjoyable to watch regardless of whether one is interested in the bit of kit or not. Frankly, the tech' involved in the Insta360 pickles my mind, I feel like my old, dear, late Granny when she first saw colour TV...
It is great to see this camera reviewed by an actual photographer. I’ve been looking at buying a 360 camera for a while now but I’ve had a number of technical, photographer type questions that I haven’t found answers to until now - thank you. I really hope that they can squeeze in bigger sensors and higher pixel counts in the future. In the meantime, I can’t wait to take one wing suiting/skydiving!
I love my Insta360 One X. It has made capturing my road trips much easier. If there is one complaint I have, it's that the desktop app does not have an 'undo' command. There's been plenty of times when I hit "ctrl+z" expecting something to happen. I hope Insta360 will fix that issue soon!
We can always rely on Philip to gives a full, accurate and honest review. We are rather spoilt and action cameras, 360 cameras in particular, have so many hurdles; but the image quality isn't very pleasing. The shots/angles you can get, the useability looks great, but that muddy yet oversharpened image is not. A 1" sensor version would be nice (with the consequent increase in size), but it would help. Insta360 need to fix their sharpening though, as even their One R 1" suffers.
Finally.. I've been looking and trying to find anything that mentions what the exported video resolution is. I'm glad you're not stuck to 1080p when using the computer software when exporting. I could not find any other reviews that talked about this. Cheers
Moment of silence for the spilt coffee! The funniest moment I've seen in a TH-cam review (sorry) - Always appreciated your videos anyway and this was particularly helpful amongst the 'hype' videos.
I have been looking to buy a 360 camera. Looking at your video helped me a lot in making my decision. I absolutely admire your work, I love the harmony of sound and video of your work. Very well done sir.
Another cool review. Thanks! I'm looking at 360 cameras as a variation for filming walking videos and your reviews are proving very helpful. Thanks again!
It does look like a lot of fun; perfect for a journey in the little yellow boat! Thanks for the insights into this revamped device and the studio app, it is about time that they updated the computer app; your insights on using this were greatly appreciated, it does look rather simple and effective if being used for social media as HD output.
Fantastic! I used to have the One X and now the One R...perfect for this Covid-19 times! Fantastic angles without any assistance. I can't wait to try the new Shot Lab templates such as Shadow Clone, Flip my day and a dash of Flash Dash! Crazy fun...! but this video essay/review is a masterpiece. It's not about the 4k or 8k quality (which this camera doesn't do at all) but about how the message and an almost 1080p video (after reframing the 360 video) can really gives us a fresh perspective about daily life. The one R is in my backpack all the time! My videos will never be as great as some but they capture unique moments in my life and those around me. I may get a One X3 when things are improved a bit but shooting 360 and reframing the video AFTER shooting is the real deal. Thanks for the video Mr Bloom. Cheers from Toronto. PS you do need a onewheel! Can't wait to see you riding one! LOL- your car is classic! PS 2- I only use the Insta 360 app my iphone 11pro max and it works great. My shots are under 2 minutes long max. Would using the desktop GREATLY improved my reframed footage? thanks
@@philipbloom great news! I hope that the world heals soon! I will stay with my One R for now! I will wait for the One X3 with higher resolution! Thanks for the video. Fantastic video as always and excellent review, Philip. I would really appreciate a separate video showing how you edit the footage in the mobile app and Insta360 studio.
Great stuff....as always. And that shot again @7min 23, of the starbucks spill, I hate spilling my starbucks....looks like you was going to take a nice big gulp of it too. (People on the train) - why is that man pointing a stick upwards and carrying a coffee at the same time?? I still occasionally use my Gear 360 (2016) with the insta PC app.....I feel I do need that extra 5.*k resolution, time for an upgrade.
I love the 360 cam. I made a motovlog with it and was so impressed of the outcome. Just be ready to have a 700GB swap file to stitch together in a pc for a 20mins 360 raw file
Fantastic Philip, highly entertaining and informative review as always. I'm wasn't sure if my life needs one of these, but I'm now less sure that I don't need one :)
I've got the One X and it has been a great piece of kit. By adapting a boom pole I have managed to achieve fairly high angle shots in areas where it has not been possible to launch a drone.
Mr Bloom best regards from Hong Kong this video was a lot of fun and it got rain, British atmisphere, fun cabriolet chase the rain, ducks, swans and young thugs in dark alleys, that was a nice entertaining review it was fun to watch I got my insta X , the only thing I think is interesting is the waterproof and lense guard thing, keep it coming and keep it safe Mr Bloom, your videos are always interesting to watch 🙏🙏🙏😇
After watching lot of reviews last two months about this camera finally the best opinion about it.They have a lot of to do to improve image quality. It is noisy in low light situation.Hope they can get close to GoPro or DJI quality but thumb up for great quality of post processing app.Plenty room for improvements.Maybe GoPro or DJI would show up with new 360 modul for Action 2 soon.Well done job! ✅📸
Hey Philip, I watched this review when it came out, thinking that 360 wasn't practical or useful to me at all (even as someone who spends much of their time playing VR games) and now I just got my hands on my own one of these, I'm strongly considering making a narrative short with just one of these via over capture like you used here instead of using my ZCam E2. Thanks so much for this film!
This looks like a good camera to get if you want to set a time lapse camera up in the middle of a room when you want to film something happening in different parts of the room without having to resetup for each shot.
@philipbloom you're an amazing talented creator, always love your reviews, and yes please if you can do a now detailed video on the editing techniques would be great
This is one of the best reviews for this camera that I’ve seen. It’s a great camera for what it’s good at, but I like how you highlighted its shortcomings. I was interested in using this as a sort of bicycle “dashcam” but the short battery life, massive data storage needed for long-form video, and poor low light clarify is a bit of a deal-breaker for me.
Agree 100% about the sharpening. I've mentioned it a few times and I360 seem receptive to the idea of reducing or giving the option of eliminating it. It would be sooooooo much better.
Definitely the best review of this product so far! I think the video dislikes are from the other reviewers who weren't nearly as creative. I watched the entire video, but have a question. In certain shots (examples - when driving in your car and closing shot of the grocery cart), how did you mount the camera and selfie stick? Are you just holding it? Or is it secured another way? Thanks for your time!
Thanks Matt. I think I will do a second video without the constraints I put myself in here with shooting almost all on the camera. If you look at the bit when the camera is mounted by the river and I am using my Sony you will see a shot of a small manfrotto clamp and bungee which the selfie stick is attached to. I used that for the shopping cart too. In the car no, I need both hands to drive especially as it’s manual. The camera outside is clamped to the driver arm rest with a GoPro clamp and arm thing but only half on that as it’s not rigid enough. I wedges it into the corner of the car and dash to make it secure. Again bungees on the clamp just in case! The clamp on the bonnet when I opened the car didn’t work so well. It was the GoPro one and too big and as was in shot looked weird. Creative mounting is the key for sure! I need to figure out a body one that doesn’t sway!
Been looking at review of this can yours is the best most realistic. I love your rawness of your personality and the filming style that would be me! Lol 😂
Wow...so glad I found your channel...one of the best reviews of this camera (ordered and waiting) I've seen yet.
