I design rack systems for a living and Jordans idea is on point. Putting the beam over the door is what we refer to as a tunnel bay. Loved seeing him work through it.
As an individual who is constantly trying to raise money for our local Boys and Girls clubs, it's awesome to see you guys doing the same. You're all awesome! Keep it up!
Jordan on skates explaining things is the best. He can truly get his point across alot quicker and make it visually entertaining. Also the matts off road recovery reference was gold 👌
Great lumber rack. Maybe just add a base to lift the slabs off the concrete. Also printing a bunch of paper labels of common species you work with and keep them near the lumber storage with a stapler. That way you don’t have to try and remember and you don’t have to ask everyone else in the shop if they remember.
You need to bolt your racking down to the floor. It will get bumped by a forklift at some point. If it isn't bolted down correctly, it will tip over and it will be a disaster. Not just because of the mess since falling racking can easily kill. Get drilling and bolting boys. Besides that, it is a pretty good setup. might as well do the bottom attachment now, before it has been broken or filled with slabs. Less material to move out of the way and easy to prevent from being another project later on when you are trying to produce completed projects and are done setting up the shop. Also, when you set up the pouring room, don't put anything in front of the electrical panel like the previous owners did. Or in front of any electrical panel. Not even a table. Electricians and safety people really hate it and it also is a massive fire hazard in industrial settings, especially one where wood dust is going to be produced and flung into the air. 3 feet in front clear and 1 foot on either side of the panel cleared of floor space. Makes it easier to reset a breaker you trip accidently too.
You should definitely think about putting one shelf on the bottom. It will make the racking more stable and keep your wood off of concrete. So they're not pulling any moisture off the concrete
I second this! as a warehouse manager that has put up racking like this for over 10+ years on my own, it will make things way more sturdy, and also I would guess that if there's massive rain storms in your area and water does happen to creep into your shop (I've seen it, it WILL happen lol), you'll be thanking yourself if you have those slabs up off the floor; as a general rule, perishables such as that, have off the floor for that same reason.
You need corner bumper bracers on 3 of those front legs that bolt into floor, because someone will eventually get squirrelly and hit one of those legs. As you folks are clearly not familiar with that rack system, let's just say catastrophic failure proceeds a tapped leg not supported from bottom.
I have put together lots of pallet racking like these I would recommend getting some concrete anchors and anchoring all of those shelfs to the ground and some long bolts to bolt the arms into the verticals. The reason is just incase someone hits it with a fork lift the whole thing should not shift also for just general rigidity of the shelving.
Had to give it a thumbs up 👍 only because it is the ONLY IDEA 💡 Jordan has ever had without causing anyone else a major migraine 😕. I know you may think it's harsh but I think he must have fallen over when playing a part from his favourite film " Mighty Duck's!" and bumped his head basically knocking the one and only idea he has ever had into his brain 🧠 cell 😳 🤣 😂 🤔. As always guy's 💯% 👍 🇬🇧.
Everyone already pointed out what I was going to say about elevating the lumber slightly, so I'll just say "Great job Sam and Jordan!" And Jordan said exactly what I was thinking with the beehive! 🤣
Your gonna want to put something under those boards to stop moisture from getting into them during the summer when the concrete starts to sweat, especially right near a door
Looks pretty clean! The good thing about the low costs of it is that if it stops working in the future you can easily change it without feeling like it's going to cost you double
Very nice video today. It turned out very well there. Hopefully you get great use out of it for many years. Can't wait to see more videos soon. Keep up the great craftsmanship and hard work boys. Keep making. Stay squirrely. God bless.
Did anyone notice the respect Jordan got when he was on skates? I think it's a hight problem, he's younger and smaller 🤔😋 Good job Jordan!! Happy Christmas everyone 😊👍👍👍👍👍
Love the content as always. As an ex forklift mechanic for Crown I highly recommend you get those lifts serviced. Those stock pickers need some love. Crown has a Pittsburgh service branch. At least get them setup for a PM and they will check everything over and make sure they are safe to operate.
You might add some led strips into the short piece wood bins since the power outlet is right beside you would find the pieces in the darkness a little easier
@@jordanheider2662 honestly I just said that to make someone laugh.. Lol I was just messing around. Your all great. Keep up the great work. And the awesomeness..
This is neat! You need to attach the racking to the wall and/or floor (ideally both, because redundancy), so it doesn't accidentally tip over. Hopefully y'all have already thought of that and just didn't show it in the video. Lol.
Jordan, u said u probably should put boots on but from a skateboard vs Rollerblade outlook u already had em on ya FRUITBOOTER!!!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣 Sincerely A woodpusher
I'm a little concerned about the storage over the doorway - is there ingress/egress from both sides of the wall? Consider placing a solid sheet of aluminum? If the storage were on fire and someone were to walk under it. Plan for the worst, hope for the best.
Tomfoolery at its finest! Great vid. Great fun. Great Lumber rack. (ooh look this thing is actually leaking, that might be sulphuric acid peeps?) Some of your wood is close to the door, wont that be subject to gargantuan swings in temperature and humidity and also block the ingress of the truck?
You guys did bolt the down to the floor? Right? let me tell you. Those racks seem super stable untill they are not and since they are tied togeter thay all come down bolting them, dow helps with the stabillity Turns a holy shit he's dead into oh shit you bent the rack
Sam, "We bought way too many 2x4's, because neither of us can do math" that why I tell my kids you gotta be able to do math, or you will end up with too many 2x4's!
Omg I lost it with the step brothers clip. Amazing editing and comedic moment
The fact that Jordan was on skates for this made it that much better.
Love how John is unphased when he first sees Jordan on roller blades. Jordan was defiantly the star of this video. lol Great video guys
Appreciate it!

@@jordanheider2662 oh shit Hey Jordan lol. Actually we are hahaha but we are in FL and it'd probably be a pay cut haha
Hey Awesomeguy, what is the name of your company and how do we get I touch with you?
I love the @Matt's Offroad Recovery reference! another favorite channel for sure.
I love seeing TH-cam channels talk about others. It's almost like you forget we're all in the same world.

Sam and Jordan can’t handle Math and you want them to attempt Spelling?
Just what I was thinking - A couple of pallets would do the trick easily.

Not sure what like better, the lumber rack process & outcomes or the ball busting.🤣🤣 👏
Please keep Jordan on the skates. Just hilarious!!!
Way to shout out to Matt!!
“We’ll get ‘‘em out”
Never seen Jordan more confident than when he's on wheels
I just watched 3 goofballs for 16 minutes and 6 seconds and had a great time doing it.
I really liked this great lumber/wood storage solution!
Well done gentlemen!
I love the references you make. Gordon Bombay. I'll be laughing about that all day! Keep it up guys love following you in to the new building.

Exactly how it was supposed to be, store some lumber! Utilizing the stuff you have to get er done, priceless! O and john not in the way, Awesome!

Really diggin those angled cubbies. Nice.
They did a good job. Only think I would have changed is going to the floor with slab separated walls.

Truly a miracle
if yall still have a cross member you can put it low on the front to add structure and a stop to keep it in the bays.
I can't wait until this shop setup is done because you are gonna give me a heart attack with this equipment use.
Looks awesome guys, 👍
Put a Bills sticker on that...and it won't stop...the run.😎
Great job fellas!! I knew you two could do it!!
OSHA inspector appreciates the video .... 😳🧐
Looks Amazing! Such a fun build 🙌🏻
maybe a cable across the slabs that are standing up like they have in lowes for there tall wood
I would have inset a diagonal 1x4s on the half wall dividers make them a little more stable
The stars of this episode are Jordan's skates and Jordan's hickies.
This whole process was a train wreck 😂 good work guys
The problem with the dead machine is the janky Steelers sticker.😆😆Go Chiefs! 😀😀

don't slabs have a tendency to go bendy when stored on end, i thought you were supposed to store them flat with sticks between
thanks for uploading new video..

Ive actually been tryin ta find ideas for my lumber storage for the time bein but i have both logs and lumber takin up that current space
The Safety manager side of me is screaming internally with the forklift operations lol.
Get the ends of the slabs off the concrete would be my suggestion.

Where do you find those hand plane holders on the back drop tool wall
Does Jordan secretly rollerblade around in dolphin shorts and a tank top? I can't unthink that.
