I haven’t been able to bring myself to go through things and decorate since my husband died unexpectedly of septic shock from what had become a routine surgery 3 yrs ago Dec 15. We had almost 40 yrs together, 4 daughters, 1 son, 7 granddaughters and 8 grandsons. I have been almost paralyzed and unable to do anything. I met him when I was 20 yrs old and miss him more than I can express. But the Bible verses you read I felt were meant for me to hear. Maybe it’s not about not wanting to decorate but more about not wanting to change what’s left of when he was here. I have to let go of that and give myself permission to move forward and not stay stuck in the past. God wants me to heal and letting go of what he’s not asking me to do anymore. To forgive Scott for being headstrong and not telling me or calling the Dr when he first thought the incision was infected. I have to move on and look to the future with the amazing family we made and enjoy the years I have left… Thank you. ♥️🙏♥️
Thank you for sharing something so personal. I'm surevthis journey 8s step by step, day by day. Praying that you feel God's leading, as you progress forward! Blessings!
Jackie, my dad passed away suddenly 3 years ago (December 26th). My parents were married for nearly 50 years with 3 children & 12 grandchildren. Our hearts are still so broken. We think about him every single day. I pray that God will comfort you & give you a peace that passes all understanding. ❤
I am so sorry. God does not want you to suffer or be sad any longer. Try one thing at a time in your home. Do not be ashamed of grief counseling or medication if you need it. And God is with you every step you take. Focus on just one small thing you want to do or change. The next thing will be easier. May you be blessed in 2025 with love and laughter. May your life be full again.
I store my decorations by room. All the bins are labeled, "Christmas - kitchen" or "Christmas - living room. When I was working, I would only have enough energy for 1 hour of decorating so I would pull out one room and get that room decorated. The next night I would pull out another bin and get THAT room decorated. By the end of the week, the house was done and with very little time commitment. Taking the decorations down was just as easy but in reverse. You just need the bin for that room and by the end of the week, the house is cleaned of Christmas stuff and packed up.
I love my red quilts and pillows for winter thru valentinesday. The tree stays up to be turned into a valentine tree. For me there is plenty of time for clean, fresh white etc lots of months. Red speaks cozy to me. You are amazing and so is your homem
I think turning the artificial trees into Valentine's Day trees is perfect. Keeping the red through till March is great. It keeps it festive and timely. Is there such a thing as an Easter tree?
The nativity reminds me of my grandson at 3 years old after Christmas yelling, “Don’t put the baby in the box!!” We kept the baby out all year and looked at him every day. It brought us so many smiles ❤
I still have my Christmas decorations up. I’m taking some of them down next weekend. Then I will put some valentines decorations. It will mostly be winter decorations until march. I live alone and it cheers me up to see the decorations because my husband died in December❤
I love that you are still decorating for the holidays to bring you a little more comfort and love into your home. I am so sorry for you loss. God bless you. ❤️
Loved your video. The picnic basket was a need idea for ornaments. As I’ve aged, I’m 72, I have put up more wintry things in my home and only a touch of one or two things Christmas looking. It is so much easier to just pick those few things out of each room and put away in January. I keep the winter looking things up then until March 1.
Hey, thought I’d share this. Every year I buy potted poinsettias. I actually cut the blooms and place in vases or white pottery pitchers. I change the water every five days and snip the ends (very tiny snip) under water. These beauties last me through February. ❤️
I took all my decorations down Jan 5th. But this year, I left up a very small tree and made a winter tree. I placed "snowballs," crystal snowflakes, crystal rain drops, and snowflake fairy lights on the tree. I am going to keep this tree up all year as an all season tree. I'm trying to use simple things I already have to make happy spaces.
One holiday season I did all Santas and red ornaments at Christmas and redid the tree in all snow men and snowflakes for January. That was fun. Each year I do what I feel like for that year. My kiddos remember lots of different themes we've done with great fondness.
I'm doing that too! I found this beautiful bare birch-looking tree from Temu that's prelit with bendable branches. It's super easy to assemble. I have a bunch of white seasonal decorations I've made from watercolor paper with my Cricut -- pine cones, acorns, snowflakes, stars, moons, etc. -- that I put on the winter tree using gold metallic thread. From a distance, the paper decorations look like they're hanging in mid-air. I love it.
We bought a labeler that you can use with your phone. You program it on your phone and then print it with the labeler! It's so fun to use! Love your organization. You inspire me!
Christmas was overwhelming. I acquired too much, am 70 and poor health this year. I love Christmas but found I dreaded it. Decided if it doesn’t ALL fit in one storage place, it needs to go. Gave my children the ornaments they made 50 years ago that I saved (shadow box of Christmas Past for each). Then picked my loveliest most high end ornaments to save. The junk goes 😂.
Great idea. I am of the belief that you don't need much to make it feel special at Christmas. A tree, some lights, smidge of greenery and silver, and candles. Feels special and all fits into one crate. ❤
@@helenf9650 thank you. I had saved the things they made in day care through elem school. Both my children are estranged from me, by their choice. My heart has been broken. But, I thought it would have meaning for them to have them and the happy memories that went with them. Plus, they knew I cared. My dtr sent a message that she loved it. My son ignored it. It is as they each wish it to be.
I put my seasonal decorations in bins by each room. I take pictures of each room on my iPad and refer to that as I decorate for the next season. This way I know where everything goes and I can still change it up if I want! Love your videos.❤️
I organize my tubs the same way, by Season, Room and Detailed Contents. But, I make a "Word Document", place it in a plastic sleeve and tape it to the outside of the tub, (I also make a copy for the inside of the Tub). I leave the Top of the sleeve untaped so that I can leave the sleeve on the tub and just replace the document when I need to update it. I keep a "folder" labeled on my computer with my homemaking lists and seasons. And I also keep a folder on my desktop labeled "ART" to put the downloads from your friend Cami from "Tidbits" when she sends an email. Also, I definitely take down the Christmas decor but leave the Red Roses and other types of non-Christmas red flowers that I use for Christmas. I use white crochet doilies and table coverings, and my Mother's beautiful red crochet dining room tablecloth for Christmas. So, the red and white all stays up for Valentines Day, including the Red and white Transferware plates. The Lord willing, my husband and I will celebrate our 56th Valentines Date next month.I was 15 1/2 and he took me to our whole Church Valentine's banquet. We have a Pic from that date. We haven't missed a year yet. Our 4th baby was born in December so she wore her red velvet Christmas dress and went on our date with us, (Breastfed). Also, I always had the dining room decorated for a Valentines Party for our children complete with streamers, homemade heart shaped cake, and individual heart shaped boxes of chocolates before the babysitter came in the early evening.Jesus is so Good and Faithful no matter what!
Used a Dymo labeler for the shelves in my deep freeze in the early 90’s. They are holding on firmly. The cold should no t be problem unless the company changed the adhesive on the back of the label. BTW: I, too, love the vintage look. ♥️❄️
You are not the only one! It's Saturday, and I'm finally at a point where I want/need to take it all down, so this is definitely going to be for me. Thank you! :)
I leave my tree up as long as possible by choice-if hubs complains I start thinking about it 😅. I always leave my red transfer ware out through Valentine’s Day. Then I go back to blue transfer ware and blue toile table runner and pillows. Thanks for inspiring us. Happy new year
I think this video was still very timely! Your organizational process has always been inspiring - thank you for continuing to share it! I also love a white and fresh winter look, but if I’ve used any red during Christmas (which tends to be minimal) I definitely still leave it up through at least February because I enjoy adding some touches of sweetness for Valentine’s Day ♥️ Can’t wait to see what’s coming for your kitchen!! ✨
I found the totes that have the water tight lids and fell in love with them, so much so, I use them exclusively. I began purchasing a few at a time to add to my collection of them. They are see through and I find that better for me. Loved this video! ❤
Hi Sarah! Happy 2025! Excited for the New Year! Sad for people who lost their beloved homes in CA fires!😢 I use: -8 clear Christmas totes/bins labeled “Christmas” -2 clear fall/Thanksgiving totes -2 clear spring/Easter totes -2 clear moss, faux apples, birds nest, etc totes - 3 “Oscar the Grouch” metal garbage cans for all my picks. One for spring, fall, and winter. Had this system for years and it works beautifully! If I buy new I have to get rid of something! 😢
I always use beautiful picknick baskets and old vintage suitcases for my decorations and store them away nice and organised so in the season it is a litle gift to open al the nicely stored decorations. I use fake snow from aqrillic wool and white toilet paper to wrap them in
My Christmas decorations are down, and if it was up to me I would use a lot less decorations than I do…unfortunately my husband still thinks he’s 5 years old and wants every decoration we own put out 🤦🏼♀️🤣…this year I have felt very overwhelmed, but I am also the kind of person who loves the bareness created once the decorations come down, I’m not a minimalist by any stretch of the imagination, but I like the clean reset that taking down all of the Christmas decorations gives me, I’ve tried taking them down in stages in the past and unfortunately it just doesn’t work for me because I need about a week of having nothing out, and then I start putting out my spring/summer decor, which might be a bit early for some but it works for me 🤷♀️
We also leave our Christmas things up a few weeks into January; they add light and joy to our home through weeks of cold and snow. I keep out red items that are not specifically Christmas items - candles and linens - as part of my Valentine's Day décor.
We didn’t host Christmas this year, so we didn’t decorate very much. I just put away the last item yesterday. I have my super fragile things stored inside, and the rest are in totes in the garage where it reaches over 100 degrees April through October. The embossed tags don’t hold up for me…ever. Sarah your organization is amazing!
I am a Christmas fanatic, and decorate every inch of the house. I love it. But I also love taking it all down the first weekend after the new year begins and welcome the quiet, clean, uncluttered spaces of January. I might add a few Valentine's decorations as January wears on, but I do less of that as time goes on and usually just add in some spring items in April. Happy decorating!
Hello, loved your video! I always get blue after Christmas is over and since I’ve gotten older I’ve been leaving my decorations up longer I’ve noticed it really helps with my “blueness”. I watch Old stone well farm on TH-cam and she was talking about a poem that I thought was wonderful. When the song of the angels is stilled When the star in the sky is gone When the kings and the princes are home When the Shepard’s are back with their flock The work of Christmas begins To find the lost, To heal the broken, To feed the hungry, To release the prisoner, To rebuild the nation’s, To bring peace among others, To make music in the heart. By Howard Thurman I’ve never thought of it like that before, to be ready to go out and do the work The Lord has called us to do. ❤ I just wanted to share that. 🥰
Lovely...❤ I only use warm white lights at Christmas. So I'll leave up our lighted garlands and some "winter" greenery, along with some snowy/icey touches here and there, while we still have winter weather outside. It helps keep a cozy feel, while our daylight is still shorter. I take down any true Christmas decor. Often leaving out some touches of red decor, if I've used red. Like winter berries and ribbon. Then bringing out a few Valentine decor pieces in soft peachy pink tones. It makes for a gentle change over to Spring, as things warm up outside. I've switched over to clear storage bins. Allowing myself 1 bin for each season that I like to decorate for. Aside from Christmas decor anyway, where I do allow myself a few more storage containers, since lights and garlands/wreaths call for extra bins. Instead of bin labels, I just place an obvious decor piece at the exposed end of clear bin, to help identify what's inside. It's worked great for quick and easy access! 🩷
I generally love my Christmas decor and follow the rule to wait until the day after Thanksgiving. This year I didn’t feel the motivation to put it all up but did as I felt like it. It also seems I felt like taking it down right away after Christmas which is not customary for me, but my husband enjoys it so I am right now in the process of doing it. I probably wouldn’t really be motivated but am having hip replacement surgery this coming Friday so want to get the house in order before that. We have 5 totes which we store in the basement and planned to sort through and purge, hopefully I’ll get to that this week!
I must be a genius too! 🤣 I also remove red and "obvious" Christmas items. Love the wintry look (Currier and Ives prints, evergreens, milk glass, etc). Then in a few more weeks I add a bit of red and maybe pale pink back for Valentines Day
Love your Christmas clean up video, thank you ‼️. One trick that I do is to finally toss the Christmas Decor I did not use in 2024, it is like carrying around old memories, that you did not learn from. Once I realize that memory is still will me, I get a big box and donate it and remind myself I finally conquered that experience. One other trick I use is to move around art work to give me a new perspective in my hone. Regardless if you live in an apartment, condo or house we all can use a refresh for our artistic eye. Sending everyone a Blessed 2025, prayers to the victims in the California fires.
Our CMD went off this morning at 2AM. It was confusing because the beeps were 4 in a row stop then continued. According to the detector you should get out and call 911. ES said it's old and needs to be replaced It did not sound like the end battery life beeps. However I did learn the actual detention of CM will put out a high pitched noise. I don't mess around when it comes to life or death situations. We did exactly what we should have!!!
I have mine up and I'm never in a hurry to take it all down. I thought i was the only one! But I agree, time to takedown the red. I decorate with the seasons as well. White, greens, brown, and blues are lovely for this time of year. It's lovely, Sarah ❤
I really enjoyed this video. You made me smile and laugh several times, especially on the first day. Your clothes always look so beautiful on you. One thing I thought about when I saw you wearing your brown plaid skirt is how nice brown or cream tights would look. Thankyou for showing us how to use a label maker. I like learning these sorts of things.
I leave my Christmas Tree Sp ode China up through Valentine's Day because I love it. In late February I will bring out my Blue Depression glass dishes which stay up through Spring and Summer. After Labor Day, I put out the Evesham and Ariana (Gorham) dishes out through Thanksgiving then Christmas Tree dishes out again. I love dishes and many of my sets were inherited from women I love. I have collected Christmas Tree Sp ode since I was 20 and I will soon be 73 so not collecting much any more and starting to share with a cousin who also loves it. I like to have dishes out seasonally as with my decorating. Love your ideas. I think I need to get a label maker😊
Do you still do the vintage valentines? To this day it’s one of my favorite videos and I revisit it yearly as it inspired me to attempt to decorate for Valentines
I think you mean this video/blog post sheholdsdearly.com/14-thrifted-and-diy-valentine-decorations/ I don’t do vintage Valentine’s, though. Maybe you are thinking of someone else?
Love how you everything orhanized! I've not yet taken down Christmas, as unwell in hispital, so next task, once home. Aome red atays for its warmth and Valentines coming. Snowmen will be beought out wearing their blue and white along with winter pine trimmings. It's cold and wintrey i. Ohio, so may as well celebrate it! Once we get to March, Spring rhings qill go up, followed by Easter items, all just a blink away it feels!☺️ Love all that you dod. Im thinking you'll be doing beams in the kitche.; whatever choice you make will be lovel, no question! Loved our sweet visit! 🤗💖🤗
I just took my Christmas decor down. It's always a little sad, and I miss all the lights. I always enjoy watching your videos. God bless you and your family in this new year ❤
I loved your ideas. I have always stored Christmas decorations by room. I keep ornaments and decorations handed down from my grandparents and parents in two bins especially marked, and the ornaments go on a plain feather-style tree in the corner of the dining room tucked away from happy wagging dog tails! It's so wonderful to have a place to store all the bins too.
I just took down Christmas 2 days ago. It's not put away yet, I've been sick & didn't get to it yesterday. I'm sure that one of the reasons is the idea that my bins do need some care. Next week, I plan to pull out my all-purpose decor and make the house feel cozy again. So, there is no judgment on timing. I have a Christmas tree bag I store my tree in, purchased at Aldi years ago. It is the best way to store a full sized tree. I want to find another for the smaller trees I use through out the house. They take up too much room otherwise.
I love the scripture you cited. So appropriate when making the transition from Christmas to the new year ahead. I have a similar seasonal decor inventory system and it really is a cost saver and a sanity preserver!!!!! I would add one step - document what you wish you had but didn’t so in the months ahead you can comb sales and thrifts to find those items
Sarah, I still have my Christmas up because I have had a lot of company this season, and I like to keep it up through the middle of January. It's so cheery and bright. I decorate my mantle and the top of my armoire in more of a winter feel, so I leave that up through January. Last year, inspired by you, I went through every bin. I sorted and purged the contents and labeled the bins in a more systematic way. It was a blessing! ❤
My Christmas is still up. With the snow and darkness it is so cheery. We.buy a real tree from a grower, and it is stil green, even though we bought it right after Thanksgiving. I store by room, so I donot have to have all the boxes out at once. I would like to purchase more permanent bins like you have, and list everything. We just write on boxes.
The big decorating change I made in the last few years was to put the regular decor items in the Christmas bins as a temporary storage place while I have the Christmas decor out. I organize the bins by room so it’s quick to swap out. I’ve been trying to thin out the amount of things to put out, as I get older it starts to feel overwhelming. If I can enjoy the season without that item, I donate it ( if no one in the family wants it)
I forgot I had that embossing printer years ago also! I usually take my Christmas down the first week in January but keep up a lot of winter decor, even the bottle brush trees. Do you leave any red out for Valentine's Day? Oh, and I think you're going to put beams in the kitchen.
I have learned this from you about 5 years ago. I have my items listed on the computer so I can easily look to find something and if I buy anything new it gets added to that list. I went further with my Christmas bins…..flowers and greenery is in one bin, ornaments in one and they are layered with 2 inch thick batting, figurines in one, pin ones in one, etc.
thank you Sarah! I have already put all my christmas away , and this year I went through all my bins and got rid of three whole bins! I still have a lot of christmas stuff but it is so much better! Thank you for all the inspiration ❤
Love this Sarah. For those who love red anytime of the year you could make it work i think since red berries are a winter thing not Christmas and red Cardinals as well. Also with Valentines coming the red would work as well with transfer ware and toile fabric, stripes, etc ❤❤❤
One trick to easy undecorating is less decorating. I now live in a small house, so only have tree decorations, mantle decorations, outdoor lights and stockings. It doesn't take too long to put them away in my labeled cardboard boxes. Each label says what goes in that box. And this year the boxes are going in the garage on my new heavy duty storage shelves, instead of in the shed. I will really appreciate that when it gets cold and rainy/snowy and I want to get out the decorations at the end of this year. Also, January at my house is clean off my desk and organize my file cabinet month. I file or toss everything on my desk that has piled up since Thanksgiving (or before). I go through my file cabinet and remove any obsolete files, and take out all but the previous year's bills in the files for bills. The medical files get reduced to only a year or two back, and in doing all this, I often find things that have been misfiled. It's amazing how much easier it is to get into my files after this. The huge pile of stuff to toss gets put through my shredder and if I'm really on top of things, burned. Then I put the ashes on my garden. I make a list of all the things I still need to do (which before have been buried in the pile on my desk in the form of little scraps of paper) and each day, I do one or two things on the list. It's amazing how much less stressed I feel when everything is in it's place and easily accessed. I wish I could operate this way all the time, but most year at some point it just gets away from me. Thank God for January!
I usually take it all down on January 1st. I organize my bins by rooms and by like items together. I proudly own 10 bins😂 This year it took me about 6 hours to take down along with 3 Christmas trees. And that entailed a nice massage from the hubby and 6yr old! And then I add a little splash of spring😂 i just have too in order to survive the harsh winters!
Up to Christmas is busy and messy with boxes from decorating etc. so it isn't till after Christmas that the house settles down so I leave mine up till at least end of January. That's when I really enjoy the decorations. Plus find January typically depressing so the sparkle really helps.
I reorganize every year when I pull down Christmas. I have about 5 totes and I need to keep it that. But I have a spare closet I put all my mini trees Santa Claus and decorative Christmas boxes that I put thongs in that are more fragile. The way I do it is I remove everything and put them near where they are going. Then I clean the space up. Then I start to reorganize so I can put in my storage closet! Done😀 by the way your beautiful red hair looks amazing ❤️❤️
Enjoyed this video so much - and it's timely because I'm just now getting Christmas back into the bins to put up in the attic. Once upon a time I used permanent marker to mark my bins - regretfully! Now I need a few more bins and moving forward will use my label maker. My focus right now, in a season of deep sorrow and overwhelm is 'Philippians 3:14 I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.' I'm so thankful for the truth of God's Word and its transformative power - our hearts and minds can be renewed!
The official Christmastide season ends this weekend; however, I too leave up the winter décor. It blends well with some sprinkling of St. Valentine things. Plus, it stifles a bit the melancholy. I take it all down before Ash Wednesday.
We celebrate the Christmas season all the way through to the feast of the Presentation of Jesus in the temple, which is celebrated on February 2nd in my Church! It makes all of January so much fun! Then on February 3rd, we start the switch to St. Valentine's day. So all of the red (one of my favorite colors) stays until the beginning of March and I switch to St. Patrick's day and then the Lenten/Spring cleaning begins.😊 This schedule really helps keep the winter blues at bay! Just a different approach to consider.
Loved this video! I have both of those label makers too! I just finished the audiobook “Marmee” a novel about little women and it was so good! Highly recommend. Perfect thing to listen to while doing work around the house.
I use christmas linens to pack up too. But I've ended up keeping any christmas dishes and linens in my buffet. My christmas stuff goes in an upper cupboard in our hallway and the dishes just made the boxes too heavy. My limit is the cupboard, so I can only keep three boxes and the tree box. The boxes are clear, so I have an idea of what's where. And I have a bag of our collection of christmas picture books.
The smoke/carbon monoxide alarm is pretty, but I wonder about the usefulness of putting both alarms in one unit? Smoke rises, so the alarm should be near the ceiling. It’s my understanding that carbon monoxide is heavier than air, so the alarm should be near the floor. I guess you could use two. Thanks so much for the scripture and your thoughts about transitioning to a new year, very good!

I agree. We've always put our carbon monoxide detectors near the ground because carbon monoxide is heavier than air. They should be lower than the lowest bed so that you'd be warned before you suffocated in your sleep. At least that's what we were told when we first installed them twenty-five+ years ago. Be safe, Sarah, and ask someone knowledgeable! 😊
Loved this video! I roll up the Christmas pillow covers and Christmas quilts so that I don’t have to iron them next December. I store the rolled quilts on an empty upholstery fabric roll I get from JoAnn Fabrics. (It looks like a 6 foot paper towel roll, but it’s heavy duty cardboard.) I label all my bins with “Christmas Decor -Tree” or Christmas Decor -Garlands” etc., so my husband can get one at a time out for me. I usually hang wreaths on nails up high in our storage room. Is there a better idea for storing those? I loved that Philippians verse and your insight on letting go! I also like Isaiah 43: 18-19.
Great tips and love the Bible verse, a great one for the New Year! I have used that system in the past with hand written note cards. Most of the totes are now out of order after we moved last year but I have been working on that over this past snow week. Love your channel! Amber (Follow the Yellow Brick Home)
I took my christmasdecorations down on the 7th of January. We usually burn the rest of the candles down on epiphany while we sing christmassongs, marking the end of the festivities. By that time our tree is starting to get dry - we always put it up in the Morning of the 24th. (We´re German.) If we were to leave it any longer, it would be a mess. I did get your video autotranslated in a monotone computervoice. Is there any chance for you as a Contentcreator to disable that feature. I can select in what language I want to hear the videos. I had to select English, so it would not do the autotranslation. But before your video I was watching one in German (that thankfully was not translated into english) But it must have switched back to German in the settings and now your video was autotranslated. That new feature is frankly a mess for anyone multilingual, that nobody has asked for. There is no option for me to select two languages. I can only chose one. I prefer hearing content in the original language and i´m sure I´m not alone.
I have to move on and look to the future with the amazing family we made and enjoy the years I have left… Thank you. ♥️🙏♥️
Jackie,
Hugs and prayers for you dear sister. I'm so sorry for your loss. I'm praying that our Lord holds you close and helps you heal! Hugs 🤗
Thank you for sharing something so personal. I'm surevthis journey 8s step by step, day by day. Praying that you feel God's leading, as you progress forward!

Me too 🎄🎅🏻🤶🏻
Me too.
Yes, I find that works best for me too. I even store the decorations for the smaller trees in the tree box.
I have my bins by room as well ❤
I love my red quilts and pillows for winter thru valentinesday.
I am a keeper of red all year in certain applications. Mostly I decorate in neutrals and add pops of color as seasons change.
@@Varykino1917yes there is!
I am so very excited that you are implementing God’s word in your videos!!! Thank you!
Yes!
I decorate for the holidays with natural elements like pine cones etc. so I take down the tree and Santa’s but leave parts of the nature up. Love it.
I leave my nativity scene and Noah's ark with animals up all year long. For me it is a constant reminder of God's love. Thanks Jo
Thanks for sharing Philippians 3:13-14, a good word for a new year! God Bless
Great tip, I love this idea! I’m going to try it!
That’s a great tip!
That’s a nice idea to share the memories with the kids.
I love how you leave up the red through valentines Day. Easy to shift from Christmas to Valentines. Love that. Happy Anniversary!!!
@@lauragreen4899 Thank you! ♥
Thank you! :)
What gorgeous dogs!!!!!!
I also love a white and fresh winter look, but if I’ve used any red during Christmas (which tends to be minimal) I definitely still leave it up through at least February because I enjoy adding some touches of sweetness for Valentine’s Day ♥️
Can’t wait to see what’s coming for your kitchen!!
Sad for people who lost their beloved homes in CA fires!😢
I use:
-8 clear Christmas totes/bins labeled “Christmas”
-2 clear fall/Thanksgiving totes
-2 clear spring/Easter totes
-2 clear moss, faux apples, birds nest, etc totes
- 3 “Oscar the Grouch” metal garbage cans for all my picks. One for spring, fall, and winter.
Had this system for years and it works beautifully! If I buy new I have to get rid of something! 😢
I love that you are so organized and have a great system for managing your decor!
I always use beautiful picknick baskets and old vintage suitcases for my decorations and store them away nice and organised so in the season it is a litle gift to open al the nicely stored decorations. I use fake snow from aqrillic wool and white toilet paper to wrap them in
Oh my! I totally forgot about the "vintage" label maker! I was there. I had one 😅
Thanks for the little chat about letting things go ❤ Anne
My Christmas decorations are down, and if it was up to me I would use a lot less decorations than I do…unfortunately my husband still thinks he’s 5 years old and wants every decoration we own put out 🤦🏼♀️🤣…this year I have felt very overwhelmed, but I am also the kind of person who loves the bareness created once the decorations come down, I’m not a minimalist by any stretch of the imagination, but I like the clean reset that taking down all of the Christmas decorations gives me, I’ve tried taking them down in stages in the past and unfortunately it just doesn’t work for me because I need about a week of having nothing out, and then I start putting out my spring/summer decor, which might be a bit early for some but it works for me 🤷♀️
Really love your ideas and beautiful inspiration! Thank you so much for sharing that scripture. I very much needed that today ❤
I'm so glad it resonated with you, Kari!
We also leave our Christmas things up a few weeks into January; they add light and joy to our home through weeks of cold and snow. I keep out red items that are not specifically Christmas items - candles and linens - as part of my Valentine's Day décor.
I completely understand the desire to keep the sparkle and warmth going-especially with those cold January days.
It sounds like you have a great system!
When the song of the angels is stilled
When the star in the sky is gone
When the kings and the princes are home
When the Shepard’s are back with their flock
The work of Christmas begins
To find the lost, To heal the broken, To feed the hungry, To release the prisoner, To rebuild the nation’s, To bring peace among others, To make music in the heart.
By Howard Thurman
I’ve never thought of it like that before, to be ready to go out and do the work The Lord has called us to do. ❤ I just wanted to share that. 🥰
I also do “ sampling”. When I have a desire to make a change in decor I also make a “mock” up of the decor to live with first. Love this video
To this day it’s one of my favorite videos and I revisit it yearly as it inspired me to attempt to decorate for Valentines
i would love to see that video!
@ just type in she holds dearly valentines to see the past one
I think you mean this video/blog post sheholdsdearly.com/14-thrifted-and-diy-valentine-decorations/ I don’t do vintage Valentine’s, though. Maybe you are thinking of someone else?
@@SheHoldsDearly yes, that is the one. Thank you
Love how you everything orhanized! Once we get to March, Spring rhings qill go up, followed by Easter items, all just a blink away it feels!☺️
Love all that you dod. Im thinking you'll be doing beams in the kitche.; whatever choice you make will be lovel, no question! Loved our sweet visit! 🤗💖🤗
Definitely those white tin ceiling tiles!!! ❤
I love your organization ideas I’m saving this video to use when I get to that after the house is finished from renovation…thank y’all
I always enjoy your videos. Your home is so cozy and beautiful.
Thank you! I'm so glad you like it, Deborah!
I just took my Christmas decor down. It's always a little sad, and I miss all the lights. I always enjoy watching your videos. God bless you and your family in this new year ❤
Yes, it can feel sad when things come down! Hopefully you find something equally sweet to replace it all with!
We use to heat with wood in a two story house…lots of work but loved the warmth…
It’s such a unique experience, isn’t it?
Thank you beautiful Sarah….I really enjoyed your Christmas cleanup….but even more you’re doing it in such a kind way…also including your bible verse.
I'm happy it inspired you! Taking things step by step is key, and God's word is always a great guiding light.
My Christmas stuff is still up. Taking it down this weekend though!
It is a great idea to note what you are missing and find it on sale or at a thrift shop!
I am guessing that you will raise your kitchen cabinets to ceiling height.
I have one bin per season/holiday, but I love this method! Have used it for many years and it serves me well so I don't accumulate too much "stuff".
So many great tips. The one thing that helps me is using clear tubs. Easy to see what is inside!
If I can enjoy the season without that item, I donate it ( if no one in the family wants it)
I love your channel so much! Always great ideas and style!
I still have Christmas up. Thanks for the tips. Blessings.
I forgot I had that embossing printer years ago also! I usually take my Christmas down the first week in January but keep up a lot of winter decor, even the bottle brush trees. Do you leave any red out for Valentine's Day?
Oh, and I think you're going to put beams in the kitchen.
I really don’t. I may bring some pink in for Valentine’s Day, but not red.
I am so thankful for you and your channel. Blessings on the new year.
hey girl- loved the video! Great organizing!😁 Thank you Sarah for being an inspiration😘
I'm so glad you enjoyed it! ❤️
thank you Sarah! I have already put all my christmas away , and this year I went through all my bins and got rid of three whole bins! I still have a lot of christmas stuff but it is so much better! Thank you for all the inspiration ❤
It sounds like you did a great job! I always feel so much lighter after a good Christmas decor purge!
Love the organisation you are the queen of idea . I had the same dymo and i love it it was orange and it work perfectly . Always love your video 😊
Your No. 1 and No. 2 is exactly what I do each year! Love your home and videos.
❤ bealtiful Piano
That’s great that you got a massage in the process, haha!
Up to Christmas is busy and messy with boxes from decorating etc. so it isn't till after Christmas that the house settles down so I leave mine up till at least end of January. That's when I really enjoy the decorations. Plus find January typically depressing so the sparkle really helps.
Don’t you worry about scratching the finish on vintage ornaments….I have some that are very faded and I still baby them, so many childhood memories.
Great ideas- thanks for sharing
***oh darn! Looks like you have to go thrifting for another basket!😂***
Awesome tips, some I do others, I need to do. 👏🏻❤️🙏🏻
I'm happy you're finding some things helpful!
Loved this video! I have both of those label makers too!
I just finished the audiobook “Marmee” a novel about little women and it was so good! Highly recommend. Perfect thing to listen to while doing work around the house.
I've been doing Bin Storage for over 25 years. I have 4 bins, a Tree Bag
Have you seen the “tin” looking wallpaper? We papered our kitchen ceiling- wonderful look and less expensive!!!
Love your videos ~ you have such a sweet sweet soul!
I never just put my ornaments away in a pile. I wrap each ornament in tissue so they don't get scratched. Then I have a bin for each room.
Oh, I hadn’t thought of that! The directions said to put it where we did. That is a good question, though!
My guess is...Raising the cabinets.
That's a great idea for storing the quilts! As for wreaths, if I can fit them in a plastic bin, that is where I keep them throughout the year.
Great tips and love the Bible verse, a great one for the New Year! I have used that system in the past with hand written note cards. Most of the totes are now out of order after we moved last year but I have been working on that over this past snow week. Love your channel! Amber (Follow the Yellow Brick Home)

For decorating, I buy them by color and cover design more often than not!

Oh, I’m so sorry! I will look into this! Thank you for your patience.
