I needed paper for wrapping things because I'm going to be moving, a neighbour of mine told me to go to our local newspaper and ask for a roll end of newsprint (it's what's left over after a run). I got a big roll (the ends come in all sizes) for $10. This roll is more than enough for me to pack and I will probably have enough wrapping paper for Xmas for the rest of my life!
From a long-time seamstress- Hooks and eyes might be less obvious than snaps- plus they will keep your sash snug as you move around in your beautiful dress. Please let us know how it works out, Merry Christmas!
You look beautiful in that dress! The color, flow, and sleeves are so pretty. We like to slow the process of stockings down with wrapped gifts. We also throw wrapping paper balls at each other. The gift wrap and red bows were delightful, as well as your cute assistant.
Use hook & eyes instead of snaps. They work a lot better and you don't have to worry about the snaps giving away (showing more than you want to). You only need to open the seam just a little to reposition the opening and then you won't need to worry about snaps. Cover some small buttons with the tie you are removing and place them at the end of new closure for a finished look.
I was just telling my husband that you had new video up. I enjoy watching your content because it’s classic and tasteful as is your presentation. Now that the kids are grown I decorate for us during the holidays. All four are usually here for Christmas but the boys are oblivious to the decor. My daughter and daughter-in-laws however are always appreciative. For me wrapping is another creative outlet - I walk by the tree innumerable times a day so why not create a scene that is pleasing. Love the toile look paper with the red ribbon so very lovely. Your point of keeping the wrapping simple totally resonates with me. I also thought your tag idea was wonderful. I’m definitely going to copy that little gem. The dress was a steal. The idea of covered buttons on the sash is brilliant. You will be stunning in it. Merry Christmas to you and yours this holiday season.
I have been inspired by so many of your ideas! I bought woodland animals last year and painted them gold...the ball-fringe garland and incorporated some William Morris into our world. I already use kraft and butcher paper as wrapping paper already, and embellish with dried orange slices, cinnamon sticks, evergreen, rosemary and berries...so much of "commercial christmas" is so toxic!!! I try to look at whatever I use and ask..."Is it bird-friendly?" I appreciate your channel so much...thanks for doing it...I know it's a lot of work. Merry Christmas to you and your family!🌲❤️🌲
This year I grouped all my wrap and put like cokes together. Then picked the group I liked best and then gave two other groups away to family. Worked beautifully
I use simple luggage tags for gift tags like you had in the video, but I ever so slightly rub the edges with dark antiquing wax to age them a bit. I then add our Monogram in the form of a wax seal to show who the gift is from. Then I add a small piece of pine tied to it & a simple piece of 2" wide velvet ribbon just looped in a slip knot. No bows! I buy "mini rolls" of gift-wrapping paper on Amazon in solid plain brown, white or even black color. They are only 17" wide, so they fit perfectly in a bin. (They regular long rolls always bug me when it comes to storing them.) I also use plain white gift bags. (found in the wedding section). These essentials can be used for any occasion for any age. they are classics in my home. I always keep a stash on hand on hand. 🎁
Your packages look lovely…I really like the toile type paper. The dress is stunning on you…the color is great with your skin tone and hair….blessings beautiful lady🌟🌟🌟🌲🌲🌲
I agree on the belt! Loose the turtle shell look, lol. That will just elevate the dress even more. Just wrapping the belt like you did changes the whole look..so sweet! The dress had ALL THE GREAT LINES, stunning DRESS! GREAT FIND! THE dress is so CHRISTMASY..beautiful cranberry color..You always look so beautiful...so classic and elegant, and your sweet personality really comes through. Hope you and your family have a Blessed Christmas!
I so need to have my pic on this comment rather than my hubby's!!!! Sarah, I'm 73 and have wrapped oodles of presents through the years, and the best thing you can buy for yourself is one of those 80s Scotch brand tape dispensers. Don't know what they are like in today's world but mine is heavy and stays put on the table. You can pull the tape forward and slice it off with one hand so you don't have to lay your package down to get tape. It will save you loads of time....much easier to wrap a gift. Thanks for a lovely video. Merry Christmas.
We had an aluminum tree as well when i was growing up. I still remember putting it together:) and I am 65! My mom also had a white circular electric "thing" that spun and made the tree look like it was changing colors!
I also bought all the Martha Stewart paper and bags at TJ-Maxx ! they are sooooo gorgeous ! I also bough velvet blue ribbons. Also love gift wrap, since I was a little girl.... You are right, it is our love language. You look gorgeous with the red dress. Christmas is going to be glorious !
It appears that you have a helper😊🥰 I love the dress it’s really pretty on you and very holiday looking. I love to wrap packages like that it looks neat all the same🎄
Beautiful beautiful dress! You're doing well, just keep going. I have no advice, though. I've been curious for a while about MaryRuth's - I think it's the pretty labels she has! I will have to try something.
I love the dress! It looks beautiful on you! Also I have a question?? Once gifts are opened do you recycle your ribbon? The gift wrapping was also beautiful! ❤
On the dress, what if you make the sash go around you the opposite way so that the end of it faces toward the back and you won't notice the edge from the front (and still use snaps)?
How are you going to keep the puppy away from the packages? I quite wrapping packages beautifully when I had too many children, especially the boys. I no longer buy presents so I don’t have that to do.
It is so strange you talking about a good multi vitamin..my daughter and I were just saying we need B12 this time of year plus D..we live in Michigan and the sun is scares here…thank you for the info…😊
Oh yes, Seattle is terrible like that. We are all fighting seasonal depression over here. I bet you will feel so much better with the right supplements.
Does your family appreciate how you wrap the gifts, or does it mean more to you? My family wouldn't even notice. I decorate for me bc No one notices ! My husband does. But kids and wives don't at all. Sometimes it gets to me.
That extra effort is making the difference. Some people really notice when you take pains to wrap a beautiful present. I have a daughter like that. I also have a daughter who is fine with the bag the item came in from the store! 😂
I noticed that. It's because I kept talking. 😂😂 I don't always take that long. I suggest an assembly line when you really get going with gift wrap, just make sure you write on the wrapped packages who they are for before you add ribbon and tags.
The dress is beautiful. A simple broach over the snap would be stunning!
Beautiful gift you have & express so well. Thank you and Merry Christmas!!!

Take that extra sash and turn it into covered buttons, like your sleeves. Use that for your waist.
That's what I was going to suggest.
Love covered buttons. Great idea!

Ooo, good idea!! Thank you!
I will head to Joanns tomorrow and get some hooks and eyes.🥳
Little Jingle 🔔 bells are nice tied onto packages too..🌲🌲
You look beautiful in that dress! The color, flow, and sleeves are so pretty.
We like to slow the process of stockings down with wrapped gifts. We also throw wrapping paper balls at each other. The gift wrap and red bows were delightful, as well as your cute assistant.
These are such wonderful ideas, thank you, Jennifer!
Good ideas on wrapping presents. Keep it simple and classic. You look beautiful in your red dress!
Thank you so much!
Definitely 80's dresses. Had some just like them. What's old is new again.
What goes around comes around, doesn't it!? I should have known, it even has shoulder pads. 😂
Use hook & eyes instead of snaps. They work a lot better and you don't have to worry about the snaps giving away (showing more than you want to). Beautiful! I can tell you are very fashionable.
The dress is just beautiful on you! Love the color.

Melody, you give the best compliments. Thank you for your encouragement. I can tell we are kindred spirits! ❤️🌲
@SheHoldsDearly I think we are...🌲❤️
Beautiful dress! Gift wrap and ribbon fanatic here as well. You need a good tape dispenser, it really frees up your hands 😊 Merry Christmas 🎁
Keeping it simple. Simply beautiful x
What a great deal on the dress. It’s gorgeous. Love your way of wrapping gifts 🎁, keep it simple which I will do this year. Thanks 🙏 ❤❤❤❤

I agree! Those tape dispensers are a life saver when weapping gifts❤
Just looking at old pics of our aluminum tree in 1960!
Oh how I wish I had Pics of ours to see! LOVED Our Silver Tree♥️
We had an aluminum tree as well when i was growing up. I still remember putting it together:) and I am 65! My mom also had a white circular electric "thing" that spun and made the tree look like it was changing colors!
Such wonderful memories!!
Loved all the gift wrapping, beautiful!
Thank you! 😊
I, too, love beautifully wrapped packages. 🎁
Beautiful Christmas dress. Lovely on you.
Thank you so much!
First, you're stunning! Second, thank you for another wonderful video.💝

Oh my gosh, I know!!! I went back yesterday for more!! Thank you, friend! Merry Christmas!!🌲❤️🌲
I get my brown wrapping paper at the Dollar Tree! It's a fairly large roll for $1.25!!
It appears that you have a helper😊🥰 I love the dress it’s really pretty on you and very holiday looking. I love to wrap packages like that it looks neat all the same🎄
Thank you, Cathy. I can't wait to see the pile of packages all done!
Hook and eye instead of snaps. Any time there is tension pulling. Loved it!!
Ok, so good to know. I will pick up some tomorrow after church.
So Nice Video
❤❤❤❤❤❤
Beautiful dress! Where did you buy it from?
Merry Christmas Sarah 🕊️
Thank you, Johnna! Merry Christmas!!🌲❤️🌲
Beautiful dress! And you look lovely in it.

Thank you so much!!
Beautiful beautiful dress! You're doing well, just keep going. I have no advice, though. I've been curious for a while about MaryRuth's - I think it's the pretty labels she has! I will have to try something.
Thank you, friend! Merry Christmas!!🌲❤️🌲 I haven't felt this good in at least seven years. I'm so thankful to have found MaryRuth's!
Maybe add another belt on top of the one you have altered? Cute dress.
Last Christmas, I wrapped all our presents with the same paper. I loved its continuity, but the family complained. Oh well!
Lol I can't believe those tags are still going strong. It's been a few years now. Best holiday investment
I love the dress! It looks beautiful on you! Also I have a question?? Once gifts are opened do you recycle your ribbon? The gift wrapping was also beautiful! ❤
Thank you, friend! Merry Christmas!!🌲❤️🌲 Yes, we use our ribbon into the GROUND! 😂 But, not the paper. It gets burned and sprinkled in our garden.
On the dress, what if you make the sash go around you the opposite way so that the end of it faces toward the back and you won't notice the edge from the front (and still use snaps)?
Hmm, I will have to try that. Thank you, Pam.
Actually that red ribbon looks beautiful…..
Oh good! Thank you, Suzanne!
You are such a beautiful woman!
How are you going to keep the puppy away from the packages? I quite wrapping packages beautifully when I had too many children, especially the boys. I no longer buy presents so I don’t have that to do.
So far so good. If she can't do it, I will have to pull them, though.

Thank you, friend! Merry Christmas!!🌲❤️🌲
Does your family appreciate how you wrap the gifts, or does it mean more to you?
My family wouldn't even notice. I decorate for me bc No one notices ! My husband does. But kids and wives don't at all. Sometimes it gets to me.
Hmm, that's a good question. I think I do notice it more, but they do notice. Sometimes I just make things beautiful for God, too and He sees it.
Yes, HE does. I should think about that more!
My main question is this: HOW on earth do you keep your cats out of the tree?!?!?! Mine have all but destroyed ours.
Wow! You are taking way too long to wrap 1 package! Beautiful but omg!
That extra effort is making the difference. Some people really notice when you take pains to wrap a beautiful present. I have a daughter like that. I also have a daughter who is fine with the bag the item came in from the store! 😂
Why would you even care?
I noticed that. It's because I kept talking. 😂😂 I don't always take that long. I suggest an assembly line when you really get going with gift wrap, just make sure you write on the wrapped packages who they are for before you add ribbon and tags.
I am surprised you use scotch tape on your gifts.
I'm curious...what would you use instead?
Some people don't they just use the ribbon, so when the receiver opens unties the ribbon it just all pops open. I'm not THAT good, though. 😂😂😂😂
See my response. . .
I would suggest that kids should choose whatever the heck they want to wrap with. I mean really?
To each his own. 🌲❤️🌲
