  • 1972 Buick Skylark Junkyard Find. I took a risk. Decided to take a little 3 1/2 hour road trip in the 89 box Chevy to check out a junkyard out in Austin, Texas. Well let me tell you it did not disappoint. Not only was this 72 Buick Skylark out there with not much missing but there were also a handful of other rides out there worth a little screen time. I made a separate junkyard tour video if you want to check it out. But this one here was the one I was most interested in and luckily for me the only things that appeared to be gone were the headlight bezels, dash pad and a couple of emblems. It did have a couple of goodies as well like expensive Doug's headers. Unfortunately she would not relinquish them....well at least not me. Yes, she was just a 4 door but honestly there really was no justifiable reason for her to be scrapped. The interior just needed a really good cleaning. The exterior was nice just the way it was. Essentially this was a rust free car from what I could see. The engine compartment was only missing the radiator and the air conditioning condenser.

Seeing these in the yards is a shame. That car as well as most of the others you have shown have serious hidden potential. I speak for myself as well as others who would be glad to have that car. Have a good day. Keep these uploads coming

My parents had a ‘72 Buick Skylark in this color. It’s the car that I took my driver’s test on back in 1972.

So Australian junkyard don't get anything old? Do you guys have classic car junkyards like we do over here? Ever see any of them Falcons like the v8 interceptor? I just love those movies. And im sorry but Mel should have reprised his role. Heck if Stallone can make another Rambo movie at his age as well as Schwarzenegger doing another terminator movie, no reason why Mel can't. Sorry for the rant. Mel is just perfect as mad Max

Even though this one has been stripped pretty good, that is not necessarily a bad thing. With some talented body and fabrication work this can be turned into a 2 door
Restomod. We have done this to a couple of 4 door model cars.

I’ve got the convertible version of this sweetie, same colour with a white top, Buick rally rims and the front discs. The grill on this one looks totally different than any ‘72 I’ve seen before, that kinda looks like a ‘71 grill. Mine has a cast metal grill with no horizontal bars, I think all the ‘72 Larks I’ve seen had the same. Maybe they had two different grill options that year? It was the big strike year for GM, that’s the only reason we got one more year of these beauties before they changed body styles (‘72 was supposed to be the new bodies they introduced in ‘73).

Probably a flood car. There is one thing about this car that is special and that is the engine. That is a first generation 350 and is a four bolt main engine. These are probably the best 350 engines to hot rod and build. You can really make some power out of these engines easily with just a few doo dads. The headers look like older Hookers but I don't think they are.

Drink up man! ^^ Also, score on the Doug headers, vanity mirror, and the dealer tag. This thing shouldn't even be here, look how there no rust everywhere!!! This honestly could've made someone's day if they got it instead. 1972 is a desirable year for Skylarks

Yup, Fremont, CA assembly which would have been the GMAD plant for that part of the country. Here in NYC, we would likely have had an "H" (instead of the Z) denoting "Buick City" or Detroit, MI, the "home plant" for these.
