Why would the developers of the engine just focus solely on CPU when everything is dependent on multi-threading? Both CPU and GPU are always supposed to be utilized in parallel for best overall performance. Is this some kind of marketing ploy from both CPU and GPU companies to keep people having to upgrade their hardware when they really shouldn't have to? No, it's the devs purposely under utilizing the hardware. All the PlayStation 5 Pro will do is lower the resolution to achieve better frame rates with less work for the lazy developers. How about the devs actually code their games properly and stop pretending that the hardware is weak due to them poorly optimizing their games. This is so bad, console gaming is so boring and stale now. People shouldn't need to update so frequently any longer with multi-threaded technology. Shame on these devs for making people thing they need server type CPUs with 128 cores when multi-threading is supposed to alleviate those problems. I played the demo for Metaphor on a Series S and I didn't noticed issues with the performance? The demo is like first 4-5 hours of the game so this sounds pretty strange that the PS5 came out to have performance issues

My guess is… they’re going to try to use the AI upscaling to get those frames. But that’s not going to be a given. It’s really going to depend on the engine used and amount of work, a developers willing to put into updating their game to take advantage of it. Which, judging on this generation so far… Developers don’t seem to want to put in the extra work for the handful of people comparatively that are going to be buying the system. At the price that they want for this system, the upgrade is minimal. It will allow for a sharper look and possibly a few more frames… But at $300 over the current system’s price, is it really worth it for gamers? When a lot of gamers were happy with handhelds or the Xbox Series S this generation? I guess only time will tell, but I would rather have a true next generation upgrade in or around 2026 from Microsoft, then to do another mid generation upgrade that barely scratches the surface and is reliant on developers to take advantage of it. I bought the GOWR PS5 and play most of my PS4 games on it. I wont waste money on the pro version since there isnt any incentives to upgrade. If the base PS5 had issues like over heating or other issues with people refunding the PS5, then I could understand getting the PS5 Pro.

Yes I had physical back on the PlayStation 2 and the 360 and stuff like that but the thing is I used to sell them or I kept a CD case and then they will get scratched up because of the CD case yes digital has its problems but physical does also you got the account to people that has big libraries of games
60Fps on current hardware is only an issue because most developers are not giving enough time to Optimise their games before release !! Most, if no all, developers have managed to get their games to run at 60Fps on the current hardware a few months after the release of their games.....So it's not the hardware.....It's the impatient Developers and Publishers etc. !! Most of them want to get their games out the door as soon as possible because they know they can fix and change things with later updates and patches.....This is one of the bad things of gaming going online which NEEDS to change !!
No, 60FPS on console is an issue because consoles have weak CPUs. They're severely limited AMD Zen2 parts. Zen 2, while a great arch back in 2018... was back in 2018. And the 8 core Zen2 part in the consoles are severely power limited, so they can't reach the clock speeds necessary to hit their PC counterpart in performance. Let alone, we now have AMD 3D V-Cache tech, which boosts gaming performance by a lot. It doesn't help that games aren't as optimized, but then again, it also doesn't help that most console gamers are demanding higher graphics fidelity anyways, and big open worlds like the upcoming GTA 6 will need all the CPU processing power you can give it to maintain 30FPS, let alone 60FPS. Consoles will always have weaker CPUs, because console gamers never demand better performance from their games, just prettier graphics.
I don't think it's a hardware problem considering you gpu demanding games like spiderman 2, forbidden West, cyberpunk (current), running at a stable frame rate. I think majority of the developers have lost the essence of gaming. Instead of focusing on creating new ips with refreshing art style, good optimizations, and engaging story to remakes/remasters of games that don't really require it, trying to push to native 4k rather than as stated earlier creating new and unique art style and etc. It's just the current state of gaming
Isn't Tom Clancys games licensed? So if the family says no, Ubisoft loses Splinter Cell, Ghost Recon, Division, and Rainbow Six. I don't think the Clancy family would want a Chinese owned company making games with Clancy name attached. If you ever rear Tom Clancy book he is pro American in most of them. Personally, if developers optimize game like ghost of tsushima on the ps4, last of us 2 on the ps4, forbidden west, ragnarok, spiderman 2, then developers cannot use the excuse of the being held back due to hardware, especially since majority of them haven't utilized the ps5 to its full potential . Sadly, I am getting the pro, and before you all say anything, i know and i am disappointed in myself, but the fact remains ff7 is horribly optimized on the base ps5 and i dropped that game cause of its choppy performance and i wouldnt mind playing in performance mode but it looks genuinely horrible. The texture is horrible, the cutscenes looks alright and the combat isnt even that fluid cause of constant frame dips. Only reason I'm getting the pro is to play that game

Frame-rate, to me, is more critical than more detailed shadows. This generation of consoles were out of date even before launch compared to Unreal 5. This situation regularly happens, which is why PC gamers and console owners upgrade to the latest.

Still zero desire to buy the Pro. Personally there’s no reason to. My PS5 gets turned on maybe once a month, and is just a Gran Turismo 7 machine now.

They are not spending the money or I'm not sure what they're doing with this hardware, they are extremely lazy at optimizing their games now, look at the stuttering mess with Silent Hill 2 Remake on High-End PCs. This is outrageous. They are trying to make high-end hardware seem weak so that people will have to buy new hardware over and over again for nothing. It's the devs fault.

Yes I had physical back on the PlayStation 2 and the 360 and stuff like that but the thing is I used to sell them or I kept a CD case and then they will get scratched up because of the CD case yes digital has its problems but physical does also you got the account to people that has big libraries of games

60Fps on current hardware is only an issue because most developers are not giving enough time to Optimise their games before release !!
Most, if no all, developers have managed to get their games to run at 60Fps on the current hardware a few months after the release of their games.....So it's not the hardware.....It's the impatient Developers and Publishers etc. !!
Most of them want to get their games out the door as soon as possible because they know they can fix and change things with later updates and patches.....This is one of the bad things of gaming going online which NEEDS to change !!
No, 60FPS on console is an issue because consoles have weak CPUs. They're severely limited AMD Zen2 parts. Zen 2, while a great arch back in 2018... was back in 2018. And the 8 core Zen2 part in the consoles are severely power limited, so they can't reach the clock speeds necessary to hit their PC counterpart in performance. Let alone, we now have AMD 3D V-Cache tech, which boosts gaming performance by a lot.
It doesn't help that games aren't as optimized, but then again, it also doesn't help that most console gamers are demanding higher graphics fidelity anyways, and big open worlds like the upcoming GTA 6 will need all the CPU processing power you can give it to maintain 30FPS, let alone 60FPS. Consoles will always have weaker CPUs, because console gamers never demand better performance from their games, just prettier graphics.

I don't think it's a hardware problem considering you gpu demanding games like spiderman 2, forbidden West, cyberpunk (current), running at a stable frame rate. I think majority of the developers have lost the essence of gaming. Instead of focusing on creating new ips with refreshing art style, good optimizations, and engaging story to remakes/remasters of games that don't really require it, trying to push to native 4k rather than as stated earlier creating new and unique art style and etc. It's just the current state of gaming

Isn't Tom Clancys games licensed? So if the family says no, Ubisoft loses Splinter Cell, Ghost Recon, Division, and Rainbow Six. I don't think the Clancy family would want a Chinese owned company making games with Clancy name attached. If you ever rear Tom Clancy book he is pro American in most of them.
Ps5 is not worth it since no one knows if it is going to run games better. It could run games worse since the cpu didn't change. That Atlus game might run better on xbox since the Xbox Brothers have better cpus and atlus might have put the Xbox version as a priority since Sonic has an exclusive opening on Playstation.
Little Big Planet is a game I never played, so who cares if Sony wants to screw there audience. They are probably going to remaster it at full price and resell the dlc as new.

Personally, if developers optimize game like ghost of tsushima on the ps4, last of us 2 on the ps4, forbidden west, ragnarok, spiderman 2, then developers cannot use the excuse of the being held back due to hardware, especially since majority of them haven't utilized the ps5 to its full potential . Sadly, I am getting the pro, and before you all say anything, i know and i am disappointed in myself, but the fact remains ff7 is horribly optimized on the base ps5 and i dropped that game cause of its choppy performance and i wouldnt mind playing in performance mode but it looks genuinely horrible. The texture is horrible, the cutscenes looks alright and the combat isnt even that fluid cause of constant frame dips. Only reason I'm getting the pro is to play that game

Definitely not satisfied with the performance of either console. We were promised so much when they were announced , maybe not promised , but that was the selling point. The performance. And having to buy a new model tv and pay high prices for the consoles , and the tv’s weren’t cheap either , for what ? The same shit I had with the Pro and the One X , only difference is the loading times. That’s all we got for the most part.

Frame-rate, to me, is more critical than more detailed shadows. This generation of consoles were out of date even before launch compared to Unreal 5. This situation regularly happens, which is why PC gamers and console owners upgrade to the latest.

You’d think they would. All of the road blocks that were put up against the Activision deal, creates a monopoly, stifles competition etc, have been shown to be meaningless, because Microsoft are putting games on PS and Switch…some of the games that didn’t need to put on PS, are being put on there as well, like Indy.
So I hope Microsoft do buy Ubi…
They can't. As part of the deal Ubisoft got the cloud streaming rights and Microsoft cannot acquire them for 10 years I think
