- I mean, we aren't joking when we say we don't like this game. It's not a good game. It's got a good bit of fun to it, the WW2 theme and some nice memes, but it really has some glaring issues that need to be fixed - some were in Steel Div 2, but then they made others much worse.

i just read a passage by a canadian soldier served in ww2, goes like this;

@@pawe6473 There is nothing to "believe" since resistance is part of our history. The brother of my grandfather served in the FFL (12th Cuirassier Regiment. He enlisted at 17, in North Africa, fought in Normandy, Alsace and Germany. He was wounded twice by shrapnels: one grenade the other one mortar shell. On the other side of my family one of my grandmother's cousin was a radio for his local resistance network. A french gendarme did denounce him to the gestapo, he was arrested, beaten into a pulp and send to KZ Natzweiler-Struthof
. He was what the germans called a Nacht und Nebel. Another member of my family was a resistant and has never been caught.
So yeah, resistance happened. People have been creating resistance networks from the start of german occupation. Some of those networks have been dismantled by the german intelligence services (SD , Gestapo, Abwehr) and its members have been executed, tortured, deported. Those who survived kept figthing in France. Other joined England to enlist in the FFL and strike back, like during the battle of Bir Hakeim or in Russia with the Normandie-Niemen squadron. There was also collaborators: LVF, 33rd Waffen Grenadier Division of the SS Charlemagne (1st French)
, french gestapo, french militia etc... Some chose to be patriots, other chose to turn their back on their country and other did nothing because they were scared shitless to end up like the people of Tulle or Oradour sur Glane.
History is not as easy as some of you want it to be. In every occupied country there was resistance and collaboration. Somehow a lot of people keep on targeting french people just because they don't like them, there is no objectivity to this.
@@marc-antoinerave2572 One thing I heard was France surrendered because they knew they couldn't win and they knew what would happen if they resisted, by surrendering it bought them enough time to get some people out of there that otherwise would have been completely screwed while simultaneously allowing them to keep a little bit of their autonomy so they could rebuild and plan.
Rimmy, for your confusion at 3:09 I have a answer:
During the world war two the germans captured hundreds of dozens of enemy tanks and and ammunition.
And because they were low on steel they painted they symbol (the Symbol of the Wehrmacht) for knowing they allies that those tanks are friendlies and used them during the war.
This tactic was being used in world war one too.
Same with the PPSH, they captured a LOT of them from the Soviets, so they started using them. But they did rename them, I think.

By 1942, the Germans probably had more Soviet equipment than many of the Soviet units did. And they utilized them for the duration of the war.
The Germans had absolutely zero qualms about capturing and utilizing enemy equipment. So long as there was enough to field and they could figure out how to field it, they did. Mainly because they had to because they needed anything they could get. Turns out going to war with Europe and the Soviets at the same time with an industry base that could be rivaled by Vermont was a bad idea. Who could've guessed?

So the "The Jews '90" thing at around 3:00 is a refrence to Wargame: Red Dragon. In that game you had infantry units of the same name but with weapons from different periods, like US Riflemen with Colt LMGs and M72s on one hand and M60s and AT4s on the other, and the more advanced unit was called US Riflemen '90 because they had 1990s equipment

I don't agree with that at all. '90 units will have AT weapons with higher accuracy and penetration, and shocktroops or better often go from a crappy LMG like an FN MAG to something great like the FN Minimi

to be fair, the way the resistance built makeshift guns in garages and whatnot is very similar to ork engineering
2:35 Another story about friendly fire CAS, my grandpa was a GI during WW2 While his unit was sitting on a hill, a couple of P-38s came and strafed the hill. Now, he claims that the P-38s were captured... but I'm not sure if they were, or if it was a case of FF. Still, the more pressing concern for Grandad was the fact that he lost his glasses on that hill. That meant he would go without glasses for the rest of the war.

@@thegeneralissimo470 They were trained in occupied Poland but the Poles didn't collaborate with germans and never formed a Polish legion, maybe a few individuals did join other legions. Ostrupen were mostly non-Russian USSR nations from Caucas and Midasia so Azerbaijani, Armenian, Cossacks, Tatars, Turks, Ukrainians, Georgians, Caucasian-Mohammedan Legion, Russian Liberation Army and Ukrainian Liberation Army (Main instigators of Wolynian genocide on Poles) etc.

Most of the community moved to Steel Division 2 or back to Wargame: Red Dragon.
Rimmy the reason why this game isn’t as popular as it used to be is because it got a sequel and everyone is playing that. Still, love these games. I have over a hundred hours on Steel Division 44.

Haha funny French surrender joke. The French government may have surrendered, but the French people fought on both sides until the end of the war. The Partisans carried on the fight from the inside non-stop, and French collaborators fought for the Nazis until the end of the war, and in fact, the last SS brigade defending Hitler's bunker was brigade Charlemagne, a French Waffen SS volunteer division.

That's part of the reason why Steel Div 2 is bad. But honestly that's a video on its own. The most obvious thing is the massive downgrade in UI, christ Steel Div 2 is ugly.
If someone took 3 cards of Phase A tigers they are most likely screwed in other departments of their division

For uninitiated there are units like Motostrielki '80 or Light Infantry '90 (number being the decade from which their equipent is pulled. AT4's instead of M72 LAW, etc)
There's also the Israel DLC faction, which is slightly overpowered from all that eternal war
Hence The Jews '90, suprisingly fighting for the Nazis.
If you think the French divisions are the biggest meme check out the German ‘Paris’ division. you get conscripted prisoners in Phase A, Red Army defectors in Phase B, and you turn into 1st SS-Panzer in Phase C... all the while you get to field tons of carpet bombers and the Karl super mortar

As noted in the Steel Division wiki, FFI Rallies were composed of foreign SS troops (Ukrainians) who defected on mass to the FFI and became part of the Foreign Légion.

Im guessing the reason why it started or why this cowardice thing was a big thing was mostly because the French had the most powerful army in the beginning of WW2 and yet were able to lose. (Instead of them blaming French high command they blame the entire French army instead but nonetheless take it with a grain of salt it is a joke after all and Im certain many people knew the reasons why the French fell)

Just the over week in eecked out a tiny victory with the 3rd Armored against my buddy, who was running Pathers and some Tiger 1s in B phase... against my hordes of M4A1s.
I can safely say spamming my 6 Thunderbolts all at ince on his Tiger IIs in C ogase really did win me that.

Fun fact, german tank crews who used captured Shermans actually really liked the vehicle, and praised it for it's reliability, and easy repairability.

Actually. All firearms of FFI in game are 100% accurate, French resistance steal weapons from Germans, and actually other countries supports them so they were available to get access of many firearms like PPsh for example. And yes, most camo pattern were german, that is briliant idea of course because Germans couldn't recongnize on first view.
FFI were good as partisans, but not as frontline army.
you should try the storm in the west mod it removes some of glaring arcade feel of the game and makes it lets say more realistic :)
