    Hey Ben - thanks for sending those in for me. Appreciate all your efforts and happy with the results. Here is my next idea - let's donate the entire batch to the Campos family fund.

      Maybe sell it as a set or make it a door prize for the Campos family fund at the show “as seen in the TH-cam video”.

    Thank you!!! Just goes to show EVERYONE that GRADING is all in the eye of the buyer and seller! The ONLY THING these services should be used for is to AUTHENTICATE a coin as to being real or not! Each coin must stand on its own merit and until we go back to a system where you have 5 days to return a coin because of disagreement on grade You have proven that being in plastic means NOTHING!!!BTW, with 11 unc. grades who was the genius who came up with a PLUS GRADE....Sheldon never had that!!!!

    • @zachschindel3181

      The number system should have just been left out. Allow people to buy what they like. Ag.G,F,VF,XF,AU,UNC (brilliant choice gem). That seems like a lot. Not good, ok, good, great.

      Bugs/fs-901/fs-904? It’s all the same damn thing. A clashed die. Let’s not knit cherry pick, otherwise define your varieties better rather then stage A B C D. FS designations need to be done away with. Top 100 Top 50 varieties will be decided by the people collecting not a group of people deciding which ones grading companies should acknowledge. Just lazy on both parties.

    The thing is, even on the ones that dropped a grade should be wins, because the PCGS coins will sell better than higher graded coins in the off-brand holders.

    Why would you take a Paramount Redfield holder and break out, value was in the holder. Also the early ANA holders bring a premium also.

    Thank you for allowing me to briefly live vicariously through your coin grading videos submissions and the demonstration of why coin grading is folly for most people. Coin grading opinions are like atomic bombs and playing horse shoes, anywhere around the truth is good enough. I'm surprised you didn't get PCGS' newest coin grading opinion of questionable color for any of the submissions.... and I'm still watching out for an Old Pueblo Coin or Alfred E Neuman round graded by PCGS as questionable color.

    • @zachschindel3181
      @zachschindel3181 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It’s really laughable. They need another teir for grading. Fast and efficient. Here’s 12 dollars and a label I printed on my dot matrix with the date, please place coin in plastic and glue. Try not to mix up the labels. Ty.

  • @RobertLee-wi5kc
    @RobertLee-wi5kc ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Why did it matter on the Bugs? Wouldn't they grade it even if they disagreed with the variety? Did you pay extra for the variety attestation? Thought you were crossing regardless of grade? Lot of money spent for MS60 81-S's

    Hi Ben would you tell me please? Do you think that the presence of full torch bands matter on early business strike and proof Roosevelt dimes? Does it effect the grade? Thankyou

    • @zachschindel3181
      @zachschindel3181 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes and no. It’s not applicable for proofs. Same with FBL or Full steps. But yes FSB or Torch can have big price increases on dates that are struck notoriously weak or worn out dies. I’m not sure they remember Roosevelt dimes have a strike designation at the numbering plants sometimes though.

    I would be curious as to what means PCGS & NGC use to crack open other grading company holders. I wonder if they use the same means of clippers and a screwdriver.

    • @_CYB0RG_
      @_CYB0RG_ ปีที่แล้ว

      I use a hammer, hold the slab on its edge and go around it cracking the seams until I can open it up.

  • @sailfly2869
    @sailfly2869 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

    I would never have a raw coin graded or even doing a crossover as a collector first. Don’t get me wrong but buying a coin that is already graded to me is a better investment in the long run. Another problem I see with some grading companies is what they are calling a CAMEO or even a DEEP CAMEO finish versus what PCGS shows, the coins I’m referring to are silver dollars from 1878 to current.

  • @スーツ社長-z2z
    @スーツ社長-z2z ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I think 1881-S non-toned Morgan keep in the off-brand holder can sell a better price than PCGS MS62. Because these holders are rare in the oversea market.

    • @sailfly2869
      @sailfly2869 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      My PCGS 1881-S in MS65 has a current value of $215 and in AU58 is at $67, my thoughts are isn’t it cheaper to buy a PCGS graded coin first versus the expenses of having it graded or even doing a crossover.

    • @sailfly2869
      @sailfly2869 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Another thought is are you buying the coin or the slab or in some cases the label on the slab coin. For sure PCGS is always desired by most collectors and sellers.

    How could anyone crack out a Redfield and then to top it off it didn't even get the pedigree on the label. That Redfield lost a ton of it's value to come back a regular MS 63.

    • @markoverman9628
      @markoverman9628 ปีที่แล้ว

      Maybe because it's not a Redfield....just a Paramount coin. They did put their own coins in holders that were not Redfield.

      From a Ms60 to a Ms61. I’m sure you take that pga to most LCS they would say it was cleaned and offer you 28. The more you know, or they don’t know.? Idk? Rainbow 🌈 💫

  • @jppagetoo
    @jppagetoo ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Wow, that '55 Franklin didn't cross? It wasn't even graded in the old holder. Is it a faked Bugs Bunny error? No clue... Unless it's "not genuine" it should be in a holder. The two Morgans should have crossed or at least as holdered "genuine".

  • @DIFowner
    @DIFowner 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

    I have been involved in the Numismatics Hobby for more than 60 years and have never heard anyone use the term, “skin” referring to a coins surface. The terms luster, and frost, are most common, never heard of skin.👎

    • @zachschindel3181
      @zachschindel3181 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Original skin? Really. You’ve been in the game a lot longer than I’ve been alive so maybe it’s a relatively new term. I’m sure you’ve heard dipped? Blast white? Imagine a coin 100% original in the mint set, untouched for 20 years. It gets toned?/tarnish?/oxidation?/patina? Or whatever is the cats meow down at the gin joint. It basically means it’s un-“doctored”? Dipped. Which is what is done to any “blast white” coin that hasn’t shot off the press into a plastic airtight beer coaster. I’m not positive the exact date plastic was invented but anything before that at one point had “original skin” before polishing it with a silverware cloth while sitting by the RCAVictor tube radio. 👎. You’re statement reminds me of the old contractor who says “I’ve been doing this for 25 years “. My response is always, “well you been doing it wrong for 25 years then”. Maybe I’m wrong? I’m willing to learn from the errors of my ways and improve if so. Now get off my lawn.
