racial slurs are too normalized, especially considering the disgusting history behind them, nowadays people tend to use them casually and as a joke and as much as they can it never sits right with me because they're throwing around a word as if its nothing, like the amount of influential people who have been cancelled or criticized have been so because of how they casually use these terms ignoring the history behind them, especially as an Indian person its quite jarring when 9 year old kids call you the N word and P word because its funny because you are Indian. Its not even like only white people are guilty of this as you said. the amount of brown people i see throwing around the N word and P word because they want to have a laugh but justify it by saying "oh I'm brown, I can say it" is insane. if we use such derogatory words so casually it becomes a means to normalise racism under the guise of a joke and everyone starts to believe that saying such things is harmless and just a bit of banter.

In that video he said something along the lines of "I'm Black man, I had to work 2x as hard to get to where I am" which was absolutely correct and he had every right to say that. Do you live in Pakistan? I feel like that also plays a part. This word was made in the UK when violence against Pakistani and other south Asian immigrants was at an all time high. So a little bias here, I'm form the US. The only people whoever called me that were specifically Indian brown-people. It really highlights the brainrot of nationalism for me, and the existence of vectors of colorism among desi diaspora. To consider this bias (in the US at least) only exists as a way for people at the bottom to push eachother down further. Hearing that last bit about the private DM leaks is pretty hopeful news.
Yeah, Bangladeshi here. The word is more than normalized here. Everyone wants to distance themselves from Indians and Pakistanis. They fail to understand there is far more in common between us than anything we could ever have from white people. I really hope your channel grows and the diaspora supports you. We need someone who is dedicated to combatting anti-Indian and South Asian racism as it's getting out of hand. @@TheBrownExperience glad you made a video that raised awareness and hopefully educated others why this word affects any brown person in the uk we have to stand up for eachother always
6:15 but it is surely not racist if they genuinely don't know the history behind it no? Not everybody will be educated on these things, and it may not be fair to judge those people and hold them up to those standards. (I am talking very generally, not about KSI, I don't know if he knows about the history and I don't care) More people will also likely say the "P word" than the "N word" because it can be easily mistaken for an abbreviation of Pakistan.
I am by no means supporting using slurs against people, but if the word is so easily mistaken as an abbreviation of a country and it's very possible that people will not know what it means, can you really immediately assume they're racist? I doubt many of the individuals far removed from South Asian history would know what the word meant before watching this video.
It seems like KSI did NOT know that is was a slur. In my opinion this video is far too hyperfocused on the meaning behind the word and completely overlooking the possibility that not everyone knows what it means. I am sorry, but I am done watching the video at 16:54. Although I see where you are coming from, your logic is not sound. Hopefully you will formulate a more proper argument in your next videos.
The comments you are making come off as extremely assuming and misinformed. The responses you give to the people commenting on your video look like an echo chamber where people are only agreeing with you. I'm not stopping you from doing anything but I think it would do good for you if you did research on the situation itself instead of just the history of the slur.
ngl you calling vikkstar123 a coconut is crazy. surely you have to realise in this video talking about connotations and historical uses of words against racial demographics why saying that is terrible. it perpetuates stereotypes of different groups just because of the colour of their skin. it is degrading and rude and literally a racial epithet but i guess because... actually i dont even know why you said it. cant think of a good reason. you basically just diminish all of his autonomy as a person and insult and stereotype him because of the colour of his skin. which goes against the whole message of your video. you can't call out edgy humour and then 2 sentences later make edgy jokes. you should stand on principle and conduct yourself consistently instead of picking and choosing when you can be racist and who you can be racist too. turning the attention to vikkstar literally because of the colour of his skin is doing the exact thing you claim to be against
Woah slow down bro. If you rewatch that part I didn’t call Vikk a coconut at all. People on twitter did and I just reported it. I’m actually against using words like that in general for the same reason you just mentioned (I’m even making a vid on this ‼️). My only point on Vikk was that he should’ve stood up for himself in that situation 🤷🏽♂️. I definitely didn’t use that term against him.
@@TheBrownExperience even if this is true, which, I rewatched the part of the video and the implication is definitely that you agree, you also should've stuck for yourself for the exact same reasons. the fact that he was singled out for 'reacting wrong' simply because of the colour of his skin and effectively held to a higher standard is textbook racism. there is no hive mind, he should be allowed to react how he wants- and especially in this case when his reaction was so minor, the attention turning to him and calling him names is absolutely insane. given the clips you showed (i didn't watch the original video and don't care to tbh) it seems that more people should be annoyed at "yung filly's" comments as his were straight up stupid when vikkstar didn't even say a word. surely you have to realise the double standard
@@DaDaPieGaming okay bro you’re doing too much whataboutism. I didn’t imply anything and I already made my stance clear. But again I didn’t react in this way, I just included that part in my video so people get the full picture of how people reacted to this incident. And at that time, Vikk was singled out a lot whether that be right or wrong

Yh but you can’t just let people say it with no repercussions. How does it make sense that KSI is getting more backlash over his current situation than him using this word.
Do you live in Pakistan? I feel like that also plays a part. This word was made in the UK when violence against Pakistani and other south Asian immigrants was at an all time high. So it wouldn't be the same for someone like me, born and raised in Pakistan, because we didn't have to go through anything like that.
@@ehtishamkhan2004 yeah sure but still don't understand the want to integrate a word ignorant people made to mock us into our identity I get the history and all but still I think at the end of the day it's still just a word at the end of the day it's not going to matter in grave neither will it increase the people who use it against us nor will it decrees us who are the target idk I see it as irrelevant

Interesting perspective bro. And I agree with you ngl. There definitely is a problem with toxic nationalism from some of those in the diaspora
@Immastaa48💯
Yeah, Bangladeshi here. The word is more than normalized here. Everyone wants to distance themselves from Indians and Pakistanis. They fail to understand there is far more in common between us than anything we could ever have from white people. Colorism is a true problem in the Indian subcontinent along with the fetishization of white skin.

6:15 but it is surely not racist if they genuinely don't know the history behind it no? Not everybody will be educated on these things, and it may not be fair to judge those people and hold them up to those standards. (I am talking very generally, not about KSI, I don't know if he knows about the history and I don't care)
More people will also likely say the "P word" than the "N word" because it can be easily mistaken for an abbreviation of Pakistan.

As I said before, it was people online reacting and you can think it’s insane if you want to. Realistically him being singled out for this was an over exaggeration from most people on twitter. But again I didn’t react in this way, I just included that part in my video so people get the full picture of how people reacted to this incident. And at that time, Vikk was singled out a lot whether that be right or wrong
@@TheBrownExperience I literally didn't say 'what about' once. You are hypocritical. I told you. You are now uncomfortable. Its okay. We are all hypocritical sometimes. this is the type of criticism that you hear, you say, okay I guess you're right, and then you try to do better. The best thing to do is to stick to our principles and to try and be as consistent as possible. Shaming someone for their skin colour, no matter for how 'righteous' a reason, is wrong.
@@DaDaPieGaming “uncomfortable” 🤣🤣 pipe the tf down. I could never feel some type of way about a yt comment.
