- ***Update: today our sweet Bella crossed the Rainbow Bridge and is probably laying on all the couches! We miss this furry family member so much!! ** 1/27/22
After being told that she can not get on the new couch, Bella the boxer decides to voice her opinion.
** note to Viewer - Yes, she has a temperpedic bed in the same room with couches that is all her own so she never actually has to lie the floor (grammar nazi's-I. said lie and not lay this time) ..yes, she sleeps in the bed with us at night ..no, I don't enjoy having dog fur on my furniture, it's my choice which is why Bella has three beds all of her own in the house. I also have dog-allergic family and friends that I enjoy spending time with and having a few places for those loved ones is also important. Yes, I know some of you think I am mean because I don't let our fur baby family member on the couch-i also don't let her sit in a chair at the dinner table. I love my dog but realize that for all of us there are boundaries. These are our house rules, you are entitled to make your own boundaries and house rules. The purpose of the video was to share her temperament and enjoy her sass. She is a great dog that loves to "talk" to us. This was the rule for our Boxer & Rottweiler, and they obeyed it......when we were around. But while sleeping they jumped on the couch and recliner, and when I would open my bedroom door first thing in the morn, hear a scuffle, then claws hitting the floor. Walk to living room and find the recliner "mysteriously" rocking back and forth with no one in it, and both dogs are laying on the floor.

Our dog twarted sometimes, awfull smell. And whan we asked if some one twarted and our dog did it he would walk to his place. If he didn't he would stay!😊
We had a dog when I was a kid who did the same thing.
It was funny when we'd come home, she'd be laying on the floor, but for some reason the chair cushion would be warm.

When I told our boxer she was a dog and not a person she spent two days following me from room to room so she could sit with her back to me.

I has an Australian Cattle Dog for 17 years, he only really wanted to be allowed on the couch so he knew he was special. After a while he’d wander off and find somewhere else to sleep. I miss that boy, he was the most chilled fella, he came to work with me every day, everybody knew him everybody loved him. Love your dog everyday.
The Real Ando After 17 years, losing him must have felt like you lost an arm. My American bulldog has been with me for a decade. I don’t think I’ll know how to live when he has to leave.
Litarider I just woke up here in New Zealand and read your comment, and I must admit it bought a tear to my eye remembering my old mate Biff. I was construction manager on a NZ film called Show of Hands and of course Biff was with me. The film is about a competition in a car yard, last person with their hand on the car wins. They never told me they were going to do this, but when I watched the film, a person in the crowd at the car yard is holding up a sign saying "Keep it up Biff we love you". As you can imagine I was pretty stoked with that, so the legend that was Biff lives on in NZ film history. The only other thing I can add that might help is this: at least one time in your dog’s life feed them their favourite food until they literally can’t eat anymore, that way when you both make that longest longest ride to the vet you can say to your dog, "hey remember that time you ate all that roast beef till you couldn’t eat anymore? yeah that was pretty good eh mate?". Love your dog everyday, and yes you will part company at some point but remember you have always been blessed with their company, and we are all better people for having known them. Peace.
@@The-Real-Ando~ That's a lovely comment! I had a Shih Tzu & a Cocker Spaniel that were very close. When my son got married, he took the Cocker, Cassie. The Shih Tzu, Pepper, got depressed & was depressed for about 8 months. We then got a Shih Tzu mix, Subi & that got her out of the depression. About 3 years later, I got Cassie back. About 5 years later, she passed at almost 14. Two years later Pepper also passed at almost 14 from conditions related to breathing dust from 9/11. My husband was beside himself with grief since she had been his "therapy" dog while he was sick 7 years prior. So we got a Shih Tzu puppy, Raphael, to keep Subi company so she wouldn't get depressed like Pepper did. So Subi was 10 years old when Pepper passed. She loved her little puppy, but she was getting sick & couldn't play with him, so 1 1/2 yrs later, we got Isabella to keep him company. When we brought Isabella home, (11 weeks), she walked in like she knew where she was. During that first year, she started showing behaviors just like Pepper! Pepper was missing her left eye; Isabella would squint her left eye when she looked at us, she wanted me to pick her up while I was sitting on the toilet whenever I came home which Pepper also did. Raphael too had shown behaviors that Cassie had but at first I didn't pay much attention to it. I went to a pet communicator who verified my belief that Isabella was the reincarnation of Pepper! She also added that Raphael was the reincarnation of Cassie. She said they are a bonded pair & always come back to be together! I was ecstatic with joy!!! You never know if they'll come back to you. I've already told them not to come back again. I'm getting too old to care for puppies and Shih Tzus last long! Lol! They can wait for me in Heaven!

Everybody says their dog or their fave breed is the best with kids or the funniest or the smartest, but from experience I truly feel that boxers are one of the best, if not THE best breed for families with kids. A boxer will lick a kids face off, or play with them for hours if given a chance. They just love them. Plus, like in this video, they have tons of personality. Lastly, while they aren't an aggressive breed , if they think u (female owner or child) are in danger they will naturally stand between u and a threat and never take their eyes off whatever they perceive as a danger. Like I said...a great family dog.

I never caught my ridgeback on the couch but would often find a warm spot and dog hair and a dog laying next to the couch seemingly in a very deep innocent sleep!
My Gramps was all proud that he taught his beagle to stay off his rocker, to be on the floor only when we were gone........as a child I would rush into the living room upon returning home hoping to catch Friskey in the act.........always he was laying curled up on the floor.
With the rocker gently moving as if caught in a breeze😎.
I had that same situation with my cat. Any time we forgot to close the bedroom door, it was a given that she was laying on my bed until she heard that key open the front door.

Me too. In my case it is a cat with an Attitude. He hogs the bed at night and knocks the book out of my hand when its time for lights out. If I am out of line in any way I get the and who, may I ask rules here.... Nuts about him or ... just nuts.

Leather couches are the best purchase when it comes to our fur baby's. I know I have 2 boxer's. I'd push the couches together when I'd leave for work. When I'd come home the couches were apart like a V and each of my boxers would be laying on the couches. Finally, I just let them lay on the sofa's. I would spray lemon Pledge on the sofa's daily and wipe them down. The sofa's looked and smelled "Great"
My Border Collie fell in love with a Boxer...nuff said... betcha Bella is on the sofa now. 😎

My 3 aunts put plastic on their sofas and chairs when we were growing up, but we notice that when we grew up and they attained 3 dogs-2 Westies and a mixed breed of some kind-the plastic came off and they could sleep on the chairs w/o it. We wondered if they had decided whether it was worth the trouble.

When are dogs gonna learn to fake a limp, a fake limp will get you anything you want. You just gotta remember to keep fake limping.
My dog got a piece of rock salt in his paw on his walk with my parents and started to limp. My dad picked him up and carried him home. He found and removed the salt. Anytime after that when ‘Fritz’ got tired of walking he just started to limp. Worked every time. By the way never found another piece of rock salt in his paw! #dogsareclever
We had a dog, a prince among dogs, that anytime a suitcase was brought out he would develop the worst limp! It took a couple times before we figured it out and had to hide suitcases. We even took the little “faker” to the vet the first time! 😂😂😂 Lord how I miss him. 😢♥️♥️♥️

So far she has been really good about not trying to get on the couches, and during the day we have a gate across the room. Who says you can't teach an old dog new tricks? She may not be happy about it, but she is being good about it.

Don't know why is it such a big deal to let her on the couch. If someone can't stand a dog on a couch he's not welcome in my house. My boxer is 4 years and he just loves the whole family, he can go on any couch he wants to, he can sleep with us in bed (which he does for past 4 years), the only thing he's not allowed to do is get up on the chairs where the dining table is...

Boxers are so overdramatic, I'll never stop loving them. The only handful of times my dearly departed boxer ever growled at us was when we tried to coax him off the couch... ...only for him to be in such a shock that he growled at us, he'd jump down, wiggling around & crying giving kisses like he was worried he hurt us. Precious house horses, them. And of COURSE he preferred my terrier's tiny bed to his massive comfy one, so the terrier got the huge expensive big boy bed while the boxer preferred being curled up like a small dog, like he would curl up next to me; insisting he was a little baby. XD

We've used old Ottomans with a fuzzy blanket as furniture for big dog's.
Our couch rule lasted about 2 weeks lol
