Thanks for taking the time to watch this video. I ended up with about 40+ minutes of footage from this flight and wanted it at about 16 for the final cut - but this what I got! If you’re ever booked on a BA 747 in Business Class, I thoroughly recommend trying to get on the upper deck!
This is not a review. It's a promotional video! I was a Captain with BA for many years. Their business class was probably the best on the market. Unfortunately, it is now rated down with Kenya Airways, which says it all. I am no longer associated with BA & it's dreadful boss, Willie Walsh, & I['d rather pay full fare on other airlines, than get discount on BA. ( & I'm Jack not Jess, due to which e mail works here!)
I flew BA Club World in the Upper Deck from JFK to LHR last year. Despite all the criticisms of BA Club, the Upper Deck experience is quite magical and unique. It really feels private in the 2-2 config. And the service, from my experience, is exceptional.
7:44 In all the flying I have done and I have done a huge amount of Short haul & Long Haul.Because I was born and live in London that view always always make me feel a strong sense of loss as if I am never returning home.
Great video buddy. It’s such a privilege to be in the upper deck of the one and only Boeing 747. I don’t honestly care about how old the 747 is. I always feel so happy and emotional to fly in the Queen. I love the 747 with all my heart. She is my own mother from the sky, taking me safely to a new place. She is my Queen. It’s my dream and wish to hear the Rolls Royce engines of the British Airways 747. Even if I don’t get to, that won’t take my love of the Queen of the Skies. Boeing 747, I love you!!!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
64A/K (on 747) are really good if you can get them as they have direct access to the aisle. Any window seat on the upper deck I throughly recommend mind on the 747 or A380.
I remember the old original BA 747s - the First Class offered you the 'bubble' upstairs. There was a bar and crew would serve you with drinks, coffee , tea etc. Nice seats to relax and meet other people! Now you just sit in a cocoon and meet nobody - just play with IT junk. Lovely trip once with TWA upper deck - great people once met...
Thanks for the great review. I have a trip coming up in July and I was sad to being bumped from BA1 to a 747 out of LHR to JFK. For months the upper deck showed no availability and after reading all of the negative reviews of their outdated J product I wasn't looking forward to riding on the 8 across lower deck. However, just this week a seat just opened up on the upper that I was able to grab so while the seat is the same as the ones below I am excited about the upcoming ride. It will be my second time on the 747 UD (First was on an LH 747-8).
Thankyou, great video, flying in the bubble was always nice, going business Tampa to gatwick later in year, hoping service will be good, reading to many mixed reviews
Flying upper deck in June. Last time I flew upper deck was 25 years ago on Northwest from L.A. to Tokyo, the days before they had the lie flat seats. I'm looking forward to the upper deck again.
It’s the Delaware River you’d passed over on approach to runway R27. The Schuylkill, a much smaller river, feeds into the Delaware, much as the River Hull feeds into the Humber, and is for pleasure craft only. The Delaware River is what makes Philadelphia a port city.
Just wonderful! Comfy & real food. Oh how I hope I can schedule in...Flown 747 x 4. Great rides! Is this your favorite trans-Atlantic choice? If not, what is? The floatation vest vid was 😂..."...tie the straps in a bow to ur side." Me over Atlantic ocean ditching: "Now is that left over right, or right over left?"😂Velcro? Love ur trip reports! Safe travels!
Thanks for watching. The 747 is certainly one of the more fun ways to get across the Atlantic compared to the two engine jets, given a choice I probably would choose it on a day flight and perhaps a newer jet like the 787 on a night time flight due to the quieter cabin. Thanks for continuing to watch my videos!
mezsh Normal on reverse selection. To minimise the risk of debris and ice/slush/water being thrown up into the cavity and mechanisms. Great stuff! That actually looked quite enjoyable (for British Airways standards LOL). I'm going to miss the upper deck so badly when it is all gone....
Thanks for watching! I won’t lie I do enjoy a flight in Club World, the crew and food are always up to scratch in my opinion. The upper deck is really a nice experience and now one thing i’m glad to say i’ve done.
Hello! First of all, Great trip report! Secondly, how was the service from the FA'S? Customer service? And lastly, at 13:55...what seat were you admiring the view of the wing/engines from? Harry
Thanks for watching Blake. Yes it’s a great experience if you can get up there, very little aisle traffic and only 2 cabin crew, so a bit like a private jet some say!
Thanks for watching Tim. People do have bad things to say about the seat i find but I’ve always found the crew and food to be excellent, coupled with a good amount of avios redemption opportunities like i did here.
Im seeing such negative comments my husband was a member of the BA club class i even have his membership card i hope everything is as good as it used to be ?
AVC Trip Reports sadly not no, the runway is still there however recently it has become a lorry park for various companies around the area. Still have the air raid shelters at the perimeter fence though which is cool :)
@Claude Bedard that may be so, but the level of service in business on BA and the American carriers is woefully poor compared to the middle east Airlines. They've been caught with there pants down and have never caught up. Even Rwandair in business is better than BA"s Club World. I’m very lucky to travel to the east coast with Work from UK. I always try to get a 747 over a 777. Seat 64k upstairs on the right of the aircraft. Flying Business class with BA is the worst decision you can ever make. The seats are horrible and even I as a German say the service is not good and usually we take pride in being the most unfriendly people you can be around.

It's fashionable to knock B.A. these days because they are no longer the prestige airline they once were but to say the staff are awful is simply not true from my experience. I use B.A. Club World on a regular basis because they give me some great deals and I've never found the service to be anything other than professional and helpful. Of course it depends who is on board on any particular day but I've had bad service on Delta and United (never again!) which was far below anything on B.A.
cameronpaul agreed. I’ve never really had a bad experience with BA to be honest. The short haul services in particular are perfectly fine really and pretty much the same price as the budget carriers. Like you said, it’s a very fashionable opinion that they suck and everything about them is terrible, but I do wonder sometimes how often many of those people actually fly with them.
Kev in England first of all; BA operates a sustainable and relatively modern fleet that fits the routes they operate, not sure why you mean my bad everything as it's a big to vague. Food however, I will agree with you on that. Once again a joke airline is a bit vague so not sure where to touch on with that. In the 21st century with airlines like Ryanair and easyJet operating a cheap and still comfortable industry, I do think BA's days are coming to an end.

I flew LHR - SEA in 62K in Feb. 2009. More room and more privacy than when I flew the same route in FIRST in 1F on a BA 777 the previous year.
I last flew on BA in the late 1980s. Superb service in first-class. The staff couldn't do enough for you.

Haha i always take the bus/coach to the airport, it’s so much cheaper and less hassle! Thanks for watching.
I’m travelling club world from LHR to LAX later this year and want a window seat. What would be your recommendation?
64A/K (on 747) are really good if you can get them as they have direct access to the aisle. Any window seat on the upper deck I throughly recommend mind on the 747 or A380.
Nice to see that the soft product has improved significantly.
The food is great. The bedding is also really comfortable and the new seat is coming (eventually).
Don't understand why everyone hates the seats, I have flown the business class seats before and it was very comfortable, spacious and private.
well i was upgraded to 63a last week and can say flight was great !!!!!!!
Glad you enjoyed your flight. Thanks for watching.
Good video. It looked a good flight. A treat to fly on the 747 and get upstairs. I did in one of their 300's from Singapore as a boy.

Delta had a 1/1 configuration for business class in the upper deck...before they got rid of them. That configuration sounds super dense!
It is a super dense configuration. It’s 2-4-2 on the main deck, 8 across! Thanks for watching.
