Originally released in 1929, this song was a hit and remained at Number 1 for 10 weeks. It resurfaced in 1930 in a Looney Tunes cartoon short, "Sinkin' in the Bathtub".
Then in 1968 Tiny Tim appeared on Rowan and Martin's TV show Laugh In, and we all thought "what the heck? " This was from his album "God Bless Tiny Tim" and made in to Number 17 in the US charts. Quite the character and hard to take serious. Great reaction Harri. Thanks Harri and Scott. 👏👏 Cheers from Canada 🇨🇦

Tiny was on a Beatles' record. He sang Nowhere Man on the 1968 Christmas Record. George Harrison, a big ukulele fan, recorded Tim for inclusion. These records were recorded yearly for the Beatles' fan club. They were released officially a few years back on individual 45s.

Tiny Tim became famous overnight when he made his first of several appearances on the top comedy show "Rowan and Martin's Laugh In" back in the 60's (most often playing this song on the ukulele). I remember it well. Younger folks today may be familiar with another one of his songs " Livin' in the Sunlight" from the Sponge Bob Square Pants show.

Tim was a short-lived cultural phenomenon in the early 70s, primarily promoted by the Tonight Show with Johnny Carson. Television coverage was limited to only the handful of US networks and burgeoning cable outlets. His persona was an oddball act, similar to Pee Wee Herman a generation later. At the time, it was hard to look away while he was on screen.

as some have said tiny tim was a very intelligent man with vast knowledge of early 20th century music. his appearances on the howard stern show in the late 80s/early 90s were classic. he was very eccentric and obsessed with personal hygiene products which he and howard discussed to great extent. one of the low points of his career was the recording "santa claus has got the AIDS this year" which he made before everyone knew just how serious that epidemic would become. tiny tim was one of a kind to be sure.

Sorry to end this on a sad note, but for the people who did not know this, but now you know the truth. There are so many sad but true facts or stories that will make you sad and weak to know them. Be strong, push your envelope, and be the best you can be. You may be weak in your struggle, (ahh in the end ) , but you will be so much stronger to face whatever life throws at you. Tim was a calculating person. He figured the late 60s would be his best chance to cash in on the rapidly changing entertainment scene. What else would explain how a talentless clown could gain so much fame? All that was needed was his ability to choke down any feelings of embarrassment, and a persuasive agent who could con the gullible public into believing this guy was more than a mere flash in the pan novelty.
