... absolutely incredible ... a greater round was not ever played ... stunning - brilliant - beautiful - eternal ... I taught golf for 13 years & played many more but this would be my ultimate fantasy - WINNING THE OPEN !!! ... add the Scottish open the week before, even more incredible !!!
Didn't realize that Phil won the Scottish Open right before this--I love that tournament. And playing with future winner Mr. Molinari--how cool is that?
@@VtRD thank-you ... the shot Phil made from brutal hardpan to less than 5 feet in the first hole of the play-off to win was the most brilliant I have ever witnessed ... perhaps you could watch it on You-tube
That 2 wood he knocked on the green from 318 to lock it up was the signature shot of this. In all honestly Tiger and Adam Scott were playing the best golf that week, but both choked over the weekend. It was there for the taking Sunday and Phil played his best overseas golf of his career, with his confidence in his links play bolstered by his playoff win at the Scottish Open a week earlier at Castle Stuart.
i hope phil can win the us open at pebble beach this year, id be the best story there, for a guy that has tried so many times at us opens, this one would be it. its his best chance.
Such a great golfer, and human being. If he somehow managed to claim a US Open victory and get the career slam, for me that would be at least as big a moment as Tiger's Masters win this year. I know the odds are against it... but no more so than the odds were against Tiger winning again, I'd say.
I would have agreed with all those comments about his integrity and likeability. The whole issue of him admitting to cheating at the 2018 US Open put a cloud over it all. I take the fact that he could have come out and said a red mist came over him and he didn't know what he was doing and hence it was honest of him to say he cheated (if that makes sense), but he didn't!
Ever seen Mickelson curse or throw a club? Any skeletons in his closet? Nope, just a class act and unfortunate that his junior, Eldred Woods, will never be.
see that logo on his shirt? he is a shill for barclays Barclays Bank was fined a total of £290 million (US$450 million) for attempting to manipulate the daily settings of London Interbank Offered Rate (Libor) and the Euro Interbank Offered Rate (Euribor) and now insider trading? probably a tax cheat ,too with his whining about paying CA taxes what rock do you live under?
The most loved golfer ever on the PGA tour. His genuine, nonsense, upbeat smile has brought goodness to the game. Thank you Phil.
Sorry, but Arnold Palmer will always be the most beloved. Phil is pretty close, though.
kryer981 was going to say the same, Phil is as close as we’ve had, but the king is the king

Only Phil Mickelson could play such a round in those conditions, well done to him!
I was coming out of church and right as the radio in the car turned on I heard this! Happy day!
just turned it on and brought it home wow
What a wonderful gentleman and brilliant golfer, supported by a gorgeous family. Class, class, class.
I was watching this early this year!! He is An Awesome guy!
his caddy, bones, such a great relationship they have
John Moriarty had to watch this again because of the news today
So sad. Time as come I suppose. Historic paring
I would like to see all of this.
love this check out bones on the 18th man he's happy
And now he just won the PGA championship at 50!!
How do you leave out, the 2 best back to back 3 woods ever hit , to reach the 17th green in 2. Somebody got some splaining to do.😊
Hes a lovely guy he deserves it

Was he paired with Molinari? Who would have thought that a few years later.....
Phil hugging his family, such a contrast to tiger

Amazing 3 wood on 17.
It was a 2 wood I believe
Whos here while watching the 2021 PGA Championship?
Family hug says it all. Class act. In your face Tiger.
One of golf's most endearing moments.
Tiger Woods.

This was not a forgone conclusion as there were World Class Players still BEHIND him but they all wilted and Phil WON his first Open!
LOL, I thought the Open was the only major Phil never won. I just found out now that he won it back then.
Leftyyyyyy

what rock do you live under?
brianstacync Por favor, que es "shill," pindejo?
brianstacync It his a sponsor. Name one bank that has not been fined.
I mean, he lost 40 million dollars gambling in 4 years. That's sort of a skeleton I'd say.
I like Phil too, but nobody's perfect.
FIGJAM!
Tiger was done after 2008. Phil Koepka Spieth Bubba and DJ had zero fear of Tiger. Tiger spent too much time in the Woods.
