I looked up reviews of this Bourbon after my wife(a fan of the show) decided to order a bottle for me. I actually live in Kentucky and consider myself a bit of a Bourbon expert after drinking for over 20 years. I've tried everything. I'm not sure what I will think of this Bourbon. I like Woodford Reserve, maybe I will enjoy it. My wife is not a Bourbon drinker but she's actually excited to try this so I'm very happy about that. Even if I don't like it, I salute the Salvatore Brothers. If they can get my wife into Bourbon, I'm a fan. I'll drink the whole bottle and love it.
If you are an experienced drinker then you have likely had a bunch of 4-6 year MGPI bourbon. That is what this is. Not going to change anyone's life, but a solid pour for a good price!
I just tried this because I bought my wife the 3 pack with signed bottle for Christmas. I think this review is spot on. I'm a big fan of Woodford. I'd like to see it proofed higher and aged longer but it is decent. I think regular drinkers will enjoy just fine. Like the man said, not life changing but pretty decent for an 80 proofer 😉
Great analysis of this bourbon guys. I’m a big bourbon drinker and me and my wife watch The Vampire Diaries so when she told me they had a bourbon coming out i thought it was an obvious cash grab. Picked it up yesterday at Specs and it’s actually quite good. The comments in the video about woodford drinkers enjoying this surprised me because woodford is one of my favorite lower priced whiskeys so no wonder i really like this bourbon.
My lady is a fan as well, when I met her 10 years ago she was super into the show and as someone who just wanted to spend time with her I eventually began to pay attention also. That being said I was influenced into the world of bourbon during the spin off The Originals. Long story short I now own a bottle because the lady of my life pays attention and picked one up for her baby (me). 😁
Every online review I've read complained about that proof point, saying it felt thin and lacked heat. Of course it lacks heat, it's 80 proof lol. I feel like some of them forget there's people out there who don't drink whiskey all the time like that and who just appreciate a nice smooth low-proof spirit. They all reviewed this whiskey quite negatively, so I was pleasantly surprised to find that it's actually decent. The nose really reminds me of Jack Daniel's Rye, while the flavor strongly resembles Old Forester Bottled in Bond, and the finish is very satisfying with a dark fruity note that melts into vanilla-caramel. I'm glad you were so objective about the proof point and the plusses of having an 80 proof bourbon.
@@BourbonRealTalk not yet, I'm still polishing off this first bottle of Brother's Bond. Have you had the chance to? I'm curious about the barrel proof one
@@BourbonRealTalk right on, I'm actually heading to the store rn so if I come across the barrel proof, I'll be sure to pick it up. Thanks for the recommendation

Honestly you’re so right about why I bought it. Whiskey is iffy for me in general. But my top two choices of alcohol are whiskey and rum. I’m in my 20s but I haven’t drank enough whiskey to compare, and It’s easy on me but it’s an experience because I know how symbolic bourbon is on the show and this specific bourbon whiskey intrigued me to learn more about it! Thank you so much! Amazing review
My wife loves that show and when she saw they came out with this bourbon it was an immediate buy. She wants to crack it open after she gives birth to our 3rd child in October.
Haven't tried this yet, but sometimes I'm in the mood for the adventure of a young whiskey. Rabbit Hole is a perfect example. There's alot going on with the young ones. Although when beginners are learning to develop a taste for whiskey I recommend an older one. Usually the older ones are a bit more rounded and focused.
This was a great educational episode about MGP and their process. I really appreciate the education; it’s not only about drinking but also the learning. 👍🏽👊🏽🥃
Interesting question. I don't really sneak. When I first started collecting Lindsey didn't work, then she worked for me, and now she works for the podcast on merch. As long as I don't put any spending restrictions on her she doesn't ask many questions about my whiskey purchases.
@@lindseysullivan5436 so you really are quite the sneaky sneak then. I just figured he was bringing home like 20 cases of bottles here and there. You two behave yourselves.
When I was in the Army, our gas masks were tested with something called (and smelled like) , "Banana". 20 years later here we are and now I know it was isoamyl acetate.
My wife was also a big fan of that show, she doesn't drink whiskey and I have zero interest in this bottle, but she still insisted that I buy one to put on my shelf anyway as soon as I informed her of it's existence. I just hope she understands that I will be buying that IN ADDITION to my regular weekly purchase, NOT in place of it. I have had MGP's four grain recipe before and it is pretty good, but 40% is SO boring!
I bought JR Ewing whiskey when they rebooted the snow too. I met the guy that played John Ross and just HAD to buy a bottle. Lol I have no idea what even happened to it 😂
I understand, but I know how much these barrels cost and they are only making a normal 30% mark up at this price. Their cost is around $18.20 bottled. If they sold for $20 they would lose around $9.10 per bottle.
@@BourbonRealTalk I know french oak is around 1,000 per barrel, how many uses do they get out of the barrel or is it singe use? I picked up a few bottles at Walmart on clearance I liked the presentation ( bottle / label). I'm surprised margins are as thin as they are in whiskey man they have to move volume. Thanks for the knowledge and insight relating to production costs.
@@redneck4528 If they are using French oak that is news to me. I assumed they were using ISC barrels. Regardless, since 1964 any product labelled as bourbon must be aged in a first time use barrel. Since barrels can only be used in the US one time, but they have much more life in them, this rule has influenced the flavor of many of the word's spirits since they buy cheap one time used barrels from here to age their spirits in. Cheers!
I feel the same way about peanut flavor! Randy bought me an Angels Envy Rye from the distillery last time he went and it tasted like toasted marshmallow and bananas. It’s my favorite bottle we’ve ever had! Lol

I nearly picked this up, but they couldn’t find it in the stockroom. May have to try again..
It is a quality lower aged MGPI. At this price I would not be mad at it.
I’m into bourbon and I think it will help my wife getting interested if I could find this bottle but I can’t find it here in Sioux Falls.
... and, it is good! You'll need to try the cask strength version...
We have it and it is good.
Can u guys see the friend's poster in the background wall?
My wife collects movie and TV art.
I am from Italy, how can I buy this one?
They sell online at:
www.reservebar.com/products/brothers-bond-straight-bourbon-whiskey
But, I am unsure if they ship internationally.
Su Amazon ma lo paghi tantissimo! Quello più basso, che costerebbe 39 dollari costa 110 euro 😢
