BETA vs KTM | Which is better for Enduro ?

- Both the KTM 300 and the beta 300 are top-performing enduro bikes and are known for their off-road capabilities. However, there are some key differences between the two that riders should be aware of before making a decision on which one to purchase. The KTM 300 is known for its agility, lightweight design and quick handling, making it a great option for more experienced riders. On the other hand, the beta 300 is known for its stability, smooth power delivery, and comfortable riding position, making it a great option for riders who are less experienced.
It's important to note that both bikes have their own pros and cons, and the ultimate choice between the two will depend on your personal preferences and needs as a rider. Whether you're a seasoned enduro rider looking for a high-performance machine, or a beginner who is looking for a more comfortable and stable ride, both the KTM 300 and the beta 300 are worth considering.
I am not one of those people who just talk, and behind that talk there is no experience or knowledge. I would like to start with the suspension first because I think it is a very important thing on enduro bikes and everything starts from that. If you have bad suspension or poorly adjusted your driving will be difficult for you and you will be tired a lot. With a good suspension it is much easier to ride, and now which motorcycle has a better suspension beta or KTM, I will tell you soon.
Regarding the front forks, I can say that they literally work identically. However, there is a distinction between the companies that manufacture them. KTM has long used whitepower forks and rear shocks, whereas the beta has changed its suspension over the years.
I have ZF Sachs suspension on this beta and am very pleased with it. The difference between the forks is that when you change the settings on the KTM, you have to turn a lot of clicks to feel the difference, whereas on the beta, almost every click on the settings is felt while driving. We can say that when driving over small stones and small shocks to the suspension, both absorb the impact almost equally. When we accelerate, I notice that the beta becomes more unstable when compared to the KTM. Of course, all of this can be adjusted, with the addition of compression on the settings or with harder springs inside the suspension.
In terms of forks, I believe KTM and Beta are on equal level. There is absolutely no difference.
However, when it comes to the rear shock absorber, Beta comes out on top. It's a bit unfair to compare a PDS motorcycle to one with Linkage rear suspension. But there is nothing I can do; all I can do is share my experience.
Beta is much more stable, absorbs every impact better, and works flawlessly at both slow and fast speeds. There are simply too many steps below for KTM to compete. I'm hoping that Beta will do the same for the front forks, and then we can declare Beta the suspension winner. But for the time being, we must state that both have the same suspension.
The engine's behavior is the next most important factor for us. I'm not going to say much about hard enduro except that Beta is the winner. Beta's engine has a lot of bottom end power, a calm and even power that doesn't tire the driver and provides a lot of traction on the surface. While KTM has a more aggressive motorcycle that is more difficult to control, the beta engine is the clear winner. If you're looking for a hard enduro motorcycle, the Beta is the one for you.

Buy what your friends riding and/or what dealer is around. The rider adapts his bike. Thats it. There are too many clips about "which is better..."
Ride your bike (doesn´t matter which) and have a good time 🤙
I only believe the “80% the rider” applies to advanced and pro riders. They can get on any bike and do something amazing.
For beginner and intermediate riders, a bike with predictable handling, good tires for the terrain and personalized suspension setup will help to keep from having unnecessary crashes and mistakes.
100% true
This is a very good and sensible statement!
Spot on
Never had any clutch issues with Betas. I use the clutch a lot.
Screw fuel injection. Beta carbed with a kicker kit or buy a 2019 carbed KTM and earlier. The suspension on both it’s just tune for your needs.
1000000 agree
Living in the past bro
@@joshstafford4410 It’s actually in the now and the future with Beta
@woodsrider117 sure it is. 👍
Never forget it’s 20 percent bike 80 percent rider latest an greatest dosnt make you a better rider !
Do you think the narrator is real? The voice or the script?
It feels like about 20% soul. Lol
@@The_Big_Wigglehe is real. He thinks his English isnt great so he does this computer voice
Ok, you're pretty smart and that makes sense. 150% soul 💗💗
Definitely 😎
Also, I used to ride my RM250 on the track .. and sometimes get passed by a kid on an 80.
Yes, I'm very much aware that I am slow on any bike 🤣🤣🤣🤣💗
I’ll take the Beta every day over a KTM
Beta hands down, still family owned, best warranty in the game and still built and made in it's countries origin....keep those Chinese Austrian bikes!
One has a carb and a kicker option. One has fuel injection inside the tank. That’s huge. How can you fix in the trail???
I have a 2023 XC-W 300 and had the opportunity to ride a 2022 Beta XTrainer 300. I understand they are SIGNIFICANTLY different bikes but I was shocked, as was the owner of the Beta, at how much the Beta vibrated. The KTM honestly, no exaggeration, felt like an E-bike after the Beta. I'm also quite surprised that there's not much talk about it bc it was such a huge difference. The Beta felt very similar in power and smoothness to my 2004 KTM EXC 200. If this is how the Beta is supposed to feel and there indeed was not a mechanical issue with the bike, then KTM is, by a long shot, the clear choice for me. I'm 43 years old and I want to ride as many years as possible. The less vibration, the longer (years) the riding. Thanks for taking the time to make this comparison video.
The xtrainer is a starter bike. You should compare with a RR. The xtrainer has no power.
@@stormxz600they have the same engine. Xtrainer has a few changes like exhaust. An RR exhaust is a popular upgrade.
I had a 21 BETA 350 Race test rode a 23 300 xtrainer and 300RR, both vibrated like crazy. Ended up with a 24’ KTM 300 XCW Hard Enduro.🤘
Beta has the "racing" clutch steel plates, that are so expensive... but after I put them in... what a bike! I don't know why even from 2018 the racing plates are not standard on the bikes...
Which better then for hard enduro, the good clutch which is KTM or bottom end power which is BETA?
What do you think about the Beta X Trainer 300?
Love it!!
This review is so strange, I ride a GasGas ec300 carburated and is way to agressive, tried Tpi and feels super tame, liniar power but I never rode the newer Beta, I am really not decided to go with TPI or Beta 2023+... they still have bearing issue?
I'm looking to start enduro. in my country beta's can not registered to have a licence plate. Is it considered thing to decide? which one should I go KTM EXC 250 TPI vs Beta 250 RR?
Yamaha Yz 250 X
is there a diffrence in fuel economy?
Beta proved to consume more fuel, but not much
I was going back and forth between a beta 300 and ktm 300. I went with the husqvarna tx 300. 2023. I read that the huskys had almost no vibration compared to the husky. Also I wanted efi. I didnt want to rejet in the winter. I really like the tx300 and tbi alot!
The problem with the internet is that a few Kim's have some problems that are taken out of context, a few bad apples so just ride the damned thing and make sure you have plenty of spare engine parts, tools and a tow strap and go out enjoy the days ride.
What seat is on the beta?
Hasn't the KTM 300 fi been having some major problems?
Yeah if you listen to the few having issues. That is the problem with the internet we have 10 in our group and never had a problem. Dont fuck with them get a tsp map and head and you are fine
Be more specific. You talking about the problematic TPI or the not sure if it’s problematic yet TBI?
Only problem I’ve had with my 22 ktm 250xc is that the day has to end!! Lol
@@chadrides914 saw a video where a new ktm 300 was even running backwards , idling normal then suddenly reversing then normal again.
I remember my dad had an old Riverside 125 that you could run backwards and even shift gears , but now days that sounds a little odd .
@@Briank-ef5iq my daughter raced her yz 125 for 6 years then jump on a 2011 ktm electric start
New at the time , she really liked showing off her start button, because she never grew over 5'2"
But could still throw some pretty good whips . I miss them days .
I tested some Beta's on demo day back in 2019 and I must agree with that fact about front suspension with ZF. But oh boy how different and effortless RR 430 Racing version with KYB forks rides, I never thought how EASY you can ride fast on bumpy single track. I still have my old (2011) EXC 250 two-stroke but I'm looking forward on Beta RR 250/300 Racing, I feel I need to try a different brand than KTM :)
From a rider/owner stand point
I’ve owned multiples of both
Go beta
Everyone that’s ever ridden a beta loves them
I’d say 50% who’ve ridden ktm love them and the other half hate them with a passion
Please make such comparison with Sherco
I think I picked two of the best bikes around actually. I got a 2018 KTM EXC 300tpi with uppgraded suspension as well as a 2022 Beta RR350 also with uppgrade suspension.
I love them both in different ways and really like to be able to choose if I like to ride 2 or 4-stroke that particular day or based track etc.
What about parts cost?
I appreciate your review. Thanks a lot.
Glad it was helpful!
Very nice video. Great info. Thank you.
Hello, my friend. Thanks for the great video!
I thought for a very long time and recently bought myself a Sherco 2T 300 2023. Please make a video comparing KTM and Sherco, it will be very interesting to hear your point of view.
hes not your friend. and why would you care about some random "influencers" opinion? isnt ur own good enough?
@@handendaer Haha)) Why are you watching these videos? Aren't you so cool and you know everything)))
Look at the top enduro riders…are they riding Betas?!
One came 4th in erzberg 😂
Last 4 years in enduro GP too 😂
Ktm exc 300 or Beta RR 300 why Ktm exc 300 why Beta RR 300, thanks to those who will answer me! 🤝🏻
KTM 300 💯🤠🤟👍🙏
proper likes pumping smoke up his backside init 2:08 we can all rebuild a carb sir...
beta's plastics are so fucked up and I have a 23 Xtrainer . There's no after maket plastics shrouds for it.
Gosh
The question which is better for enduro ….results from EnduroGP tells the answer (not KTM!) So do the quote from the KTM factory rider: Quote: " a 300 two-stroke (KTM..) - a bike which has won so many world titles in the past but a big, fat zero (enduro-GP, ISDE…) since things turned TPI. "
what year are the ktm tpi engines produced what year are the ktm tpi engines produced
I have the last YEAR of the best 300 xc KTM built , 2016 THIS BIKE IS ABSOLUTE PERFECTION! 😎
The information is very good but the voice over is terrible! Maybe with the recent advances in AI it can get remastered, but this video is only 1 month old!
Hi from France. Thanks for thé review. Very well made
Tm 300 en 2stroke is a mx bike with lights
So.......the Beta is a beginner bike?
Very accurate test I agree 100%
Good review 👍
Don’t know many people who “drive” a motorcycle.
Try a Husqvarna
Rieju 300 is the better option for most riders.
I agree. The KYB suspension is my go to. Although I really liked my ‘17 KTM 300 the suspension was not that good and very difficult to tune. I ended up replacing the shock with an Öhlins TTX shock which was just as good as the KYB SSS suspension on my Yamaha.
Are all of your videos narrated by this robot voice? Cuz if that’s the case I’m out lol that’s horrible
Your review is pretty accurate, I owned a Beta 300, the only good thing about that bike was the engine and gearbox...the rest was a let down. Oh, you don't drive a dirt bike, you ride it 🙂
Beta
WELL HONESTLY BETA IS CHEAPER AND DOES THE JOB JUST AS GOOD. Both can an will break just the same when riding hard enduro. Ask me how I know😮😊
I’m pretty sure you ride a motorbike and you drive a car 😂
Be a better video if you did you’re helmet up when riding
The Sherco 300 is 🤣🤣🤣
Is the Sherco junk?
@@chadrides914 Expensive to keep a live, pretty much as an overrated KTM which breaks every second time u ride it 😂
Great comparison, if you speak English we wouldn’t mind hearing your real voice 🙏🏻
I will try my best
this makes sense ;;
why do pronounce words and sound like a robot?
If you're saying "driving", you are NOT a real "rider".
Beta ez
Who is this joker? One rides a motorcycle, not drives! Also, he pronounces Beta probably five different ways throughout the video. Makes me wonder about the accuracy of anything else he is saying.
This joke is a better rider and mechanic in his sleep than you are on your best day buddy
Коротко и понятно. Спасибо за видео брат! Привет из Крыма!
Ditch the AI
Beta wins…!!!
But he says the clutch on the Beta is basically junk if you use it a lot... and I'm pretty sure in hard enduro you use the clutch (lol) so 🤷 🤣
@@my-max-media7621 do you have a beta ?
Haha ktm is for more experienced riders
😂😂🤭
Beta 😂🤣
Beta is red KTM 🙃
Not at all do your homework as you are wrong
No idea 🤣🤣🤣🤣
No it’s not
Novo man os a Pure italian product
Husqvarna is white KTM 🙃
