  • Rampage Poker played in the biggest game of his life so it was inevitable he was going to play the biggest pot of his life! Watch this crazy poker hand from the Million Dollar Cash game on The Hustler Casino Live Stream!
    Jonathan talks a lot about how Rampage has a very strong nut advantage on a board of QJT as he has all of the AK and sets where his opponents should not have them as they would often 3-bet. Rampage uses his nut advantage to run a huge bluff against an opponent who is under repped the strength of his hand, but Handz find the call?
    This poker hand took place during the Million Dollar Cash Game on The Hustler Casino Live Stream! Players were sat with a minimum of $1,000,000 and the blinds were at $500/$1000 often with a $2000 and $4000 straddle!
    The action folds to Ethan ‘Rampage Poker’ Yau in the small blind who opts to raise with A7cc to $8,000 due to the $2000 straddle. Handz goes for a non standard flat call from the big blind with his pocket queens which invites Pav along from the straddle with Kh8d.
    With the pot at an already huge $29,000 the three players head to the flop which comes Qd Jd Tc, delivering an action-packed board. Rampage decides to slow down and checks, Handz checks with his top set, and Pav takes the initiative in what he believes to be two weak hands. He bets $15,000. Rampage with the nut advantage decides to seize the opportunity and raise to $50,000. Handz now has a tricky decision but does decide to just call and Pav quickly realizes his mistake and gets out of the way.
    There is $144,000 in the middle as Rampage and Handz head to the turn which is the 2c. Rampage Poker has now peaked up the nut flush draw and decides to maintain the pressure by overbetting the pot for a massive $175,000. Handz, who still has clean outs to a nutted hand, remains composed and calls.
    With almost half a million dollars in the middle the two poker players see the 5s on the river. Rampage who has bricked on his gutshot straight and nut flush draw decides to continue with his story and fires another overbet in, this time for the tune of $618,000. Can Handz make the correct call and win a $1,800,000 pot?
    Jonathan Little analyzes live poker hands from TV poker shows such as Poker After Dark, Hustler Casino Live, The Lodge Poker Club & PokerGO. He also analyzes popular poker vloggers such as Rampage Poker, Brad Owen, Jaman Burton, Ashley Sleeth, Wolfgang Poker and others!
    You will also find many poker hands on this channel that contain some of the biggest names in the poker world such as; Daniel Negreanu, Phil Hellmuth, Phil Ivey, Doug Polk, Garrett Adelstein, Tom ‘Durrrr’ Dwan, Dan ‘Jungleman’ Cates, Fedor Holz & many more!

      Yeah. This is where a lot of poker theory loses me. Handz should raise the flop, imo, and then fold if he gets reraised. Rampage probably folds to a guy back raising a check raise (how ridiculously strong does that look) unless he actually has the straight. The whole "Handz shouldn't raise here ever even with a straight because he lacks the nut advantage" is just bullshit. Sometimes you have to play your actual hand and not your range.

I get this is a much bigger game than normal, so if ever you're gonna play to just win the hand, it's probably then, but at that level, when a lot of the players are playing pretty high level poker and big stakes all the time, you leave yourself open exploitation if people see you doing exploitable stuff as it's all recorded and people can watch it back and build portfolios of peoples plays, I'm sure some players do this when they know they will be playing against certain people (I've heard a fair few people talk about studying the opponents at this level in podcasts and in vlogs and stuff, that's what they mean by it).

Tough spot for hands more so cos there were fewer draws on the flop. He also didn't block the flush draw, which should possibly edge him towards calling.

    • @hughtoob9940
      @hughtoob9940 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, I'm surprised both Jonathan and Doug Polk said this is probably a good fold. What is Handz supposed to call with here? He flatted Queens but I'm guessing he still re-raises AK more often than not. Does he even play K9 or 98? How often? It feels like it's possible Handz is literally NEVER calling in this situation if he folds QQ here.
      Does he want to call with a pair and a blocker??? The straight blockers also block bluffs. Handz unblocks both flush draws. And from Rampage's point of view on QJT, he has the nut advantage and is almost never against a set. Could he not justify over-betting two pair (admittedly very unlikely with three Queens dead) or a lower set? And Rampage should be bluffing a lot theoretically and could easily be over-bluffing in practice--especially if he isn't betting worse value hands.
      I just feel like theoretically speaking you're at the top of your range. And exploitatively speaking; you've under-repped your hand, it's a great board to bluff and Rampage isn't exactly the type to shy away from a big bluff. It seems like a pure moan call.

    Handz played this hand horribly from start to finish. In a super-aggro game where people are 4 and 5-betting pre with a wide range, he needed to reraise pre with QQ, he didn't, electing to slowplay in a super-aggro game (better to slowplay in a nitty game, not a super-aggro game). Once again on the flop he should have raised or reraised with top set, he elected to slow play and from then on he played the entire hand scared until he folded on the river. The ONLY hand that beats him is a flopped straight. Is it possible that Rampage flopped a straight? Sure. But it's much, much more likely that Rampage was raising and betting with a draw or a strong hand like two pair or lower set that Handz beats. Scared money by Handz contributed to a successful bluff by Rampage.

      It is clearly not "far more likely" that Rampage has a backdoor combo draw, or one of the 6 set combos with JJ/TT, than any of the 16xAK + 4xK9s + 4x98s = 24 possible straights. - Rather: Handz is near the top of his range (he can have straights himself) , and he probably has the odds to make a crying call; he may have the best hand in just enough cases. Just feels really bad when you make it in a 1M$ game, - and lose.

      @DaftFader ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Badbentham It's like 1.8:1 on the river, so rampage needs to be bluffing more than 36% of the time in that spot in Handz mind to justify a call odds wise. I'm assuming that's why he folded, and this is usually an under-bluffed spot, and even if it wasn't it's real close anyway.

      @@DaftFader "Underbluffed spot" might be somewhat misleading wording , as it is actually about as good as it gets in this regard, though: It is rather that he has a huge range/nut advantage, he has all the AK, which makes perfect play quite easy, allowing him to apply maximum pain with his bluffs. - 98s for Handz would sound like a must-defend to me; blocking at the very least K9s. And 600k is likely more than 10% of his bankroll - so would he risk that all with a bluff?
    Now we know.😮

      Yeah with them pot odds rampage needs to be bluffing in that spot more than 36% of the time to make it a profitable call for handz. That's a decent chunk of bluffs Handz needs to find in rampages range tbh, with the 24 straight combos he could have as played. Although rampage only have 10% of himself, that shouldn't really be a part of Handz decision making, only as far as is rampage bluffing this often in this spot (and if the cash effects that, but it should of been only a small part of what he might of been thinking about, mby he put too much weight on it though, rampage doesn't seem to ever be phased by stakes).

      Not true. He is far more incentivised to cbet that flop - tonnes of hands can continue even vs a cbet overbet. If handz would have thought about this a bit more he can make an easy call with top set.

    It's a close spot for Handz, but I think JL is overblowing Rampage's nut advantage as the reason to fold. Rampage also has all the two pairs, sets, open ended plus pair combos, A2-A4d, and diamond connectors (7-8d and 9-10d mainly).

      Rampage is repping 36 combos of value. 16 combos of AK, 16 combos of K9 and 4 combos of 89s. Handz is getting 2.77:1 on the river which means Rampage needs to have 100 bluff combos here. Can you find 100 bluffs?

    • @DaftFader
      @DaftFader ปีที่แล้ว

      @@gourabsarker8359 It's more like 24 as he'd probably only be playing the suited K9 and 89 hands this way, but it's still around 1.8:1 odds (it's 618k to win 1.1 mill - the money already in the pot is not classed as yours when you move onto the next betting street in poker when it comes to working out odds properly). That means rampage needs to be bluffing more than 36% of the time for it to be a profitable call. Still hard to find that many bluffs to make the call though, it's pretty close. But then KQ and mby AQ are better calling hands because of the blockers and this usually being an under-bluffed spot.

    Terribly played by handz. Preflop he just flats with position with qqs, why? Not a trap as he is basically inviting the straddler to come in and now having to play the hand multiway and in middle position? Want to protect against many ace x and k x hands that u have dominated but vulenrable to, this is a 100% 3 bet spot to isolate against rampage witg positon. Post flop rampage, checks and so does handz! Again another spot he should be betting for both value and protection as any diamond, ace or 9 are trrible for you. Even if you are somewhat concerned with a straight mainky ak, u still have boat outs too. Handz slow played and under repped his hand so much that it enticed rampage to go for check raise and proceed to bluff him off the his hand.

    I get it about AK, but Hanz's play is a disgrace. Just calling with QQ pre when that deep, also knowing Rampage's reputation. I would also not expect Rampage to check raise 3way on that flop OOP, way too many bad cards can come on turn and ruin action if you have broadway. Totally get the nut advantage problem, but I think you just have to against a player who bluffs like a maniac, against a nitty player or tight reg then I would fold too.
    It's a terrible spot for sure, but that was just bad, and that is also why you do not play games that are too far outside your bankroll.
    Rampage's play felt like what it was. Now a bunch of pros are losing tons of money trying to replicate it 😂.
    I would have been scared too, but I am not as worried about the nut advantage because Rampage's play was so illogical on that flop. Just too easy for opponents to just check check the flop and a bad scare card comes on the turn that ruins the action.

Also if Rampage had AK, he would have Shoved after Flop to stop the flush catches. By him not shoving after Flop than likely be chasing or paired. The river card helped me since it stopped flushes. Call All in.

    Man pocket Qs is NOT the kind of hand I would want to trap, and certainly not on this flop texture. Not 3-betting pre also lets other players with nonsense like K8o into the pot. I think Handz played this pretty poorly IMO, though maybe he knows something I don't.

    • @DaftFader
      @DaftFader ปีที่แล้ว

      The preflop move was the worst if it was at 100bb, the fact they were like 1000bb deep changes it a bit though, but the rest of the hand wasn't so bad because of the flat, no flat there and that hand may play differently entirely however, and more often than not probably should be pre (I've not looked at 1000bb charts that often lol). Once it hit the flop, there's only like 50k difference (25bb) give or take between him 3 betting and folding to a 4 bet and the way it played though. So scouting down the run-out could be valuable, however it couldn't of come much cleaner tbh, it was just rampages rampant betting that put him in the blender. So he was stuck finding a bunch of bluffs in rampages range, and couldn't think of enough he would play this way I guess. owch.

I just rip it all in for 950. little backstory (that same day around 2pm I’m driving in my car and thinking about how I’m playing poker that night and say to myself “if I get aces no matter what the options are my only play is all in”, so go all in for 950$ after the 25$ utg open when I am utg+1 . The dealer looks at me with open eyes and the table is like wtf, 2 snap folds and the 3rd player flicks in a call within 2 seconds. He has about the same stack size at me. We’re all stunned and like what the hell is happening. We show and he has KK vs my AA. I say let’s run it twice, I win first board and he hits river on second for a king high flush. We chop. And now him and I are completely shooken up for the next 15 minutes after what just occurred. How sick is that?
