  • After only 6 years of practicing as a dentist, I've retired at the age of 31. This is my entire journey from broke student taking risks to living the good life in an expensive, big city, and all the lessons I learned along the way.
    Hope you enjoy!

    Joel dude, love the entrepreneurship journey. You have found the key to a successful/fulfilling life (and some true wealth), constantly grow, learn, try new ventures. Real estate is a great step to wealth (tax breaks too). You beat me too retirement by 20+ years? By the way, I work harder now than I ever did running a pediatric practice, and in the building of a very profitable DSO over a 10 year period. I have to say not being tied to a dental chair, losing the requirements of managing a large practice (and a DSO), and selling a product most people don't want, and all patients think costs too much has been liberating the last 2-3 years. I saw retirement from Pediatric Dentistry more of a "pivot" to a healthier career for me. It's obvious to me from our video content that you were destined to be successful with or without the DDS behind your name, congrats, and now for the 🌙.

    dr meyereson,
    heyy. i am dental student and i have been keeping up with your videos for some time now and i think we share the same mindset about a lot of things, but in your journey you chose to become a general dentist while i would like to go into oral and maxillofacial surgery where my passion is, but you know how long is this going to take and at the same time i would like to start a practice and go on the fast lane while i am doing so. do you have any advice for me regarding that or tips that you could tell me that might help me in my journey when it starts.
    thank u for your videos they are great.

    Side hustles all the way..... 💪💪 I am curious now how much percentage of your passive income is coming from rental properties, and was your dentist income the core engine for the cash needed to purchase RE? I know some ppl literally did it with zero leverage (think flips), but a lot of dentists do with their high income.
    I also feel it’s going to be difficult to repeat the economic growth in the past 5 years, either in the housing market or the stock market.

    • @jmey
      @jmey  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Dentistry main economic engine, cash flow from RE not super significant as I tend to try and keep income low and refinance equity out

    Wow amazing you were able to get a loan to buy real estate as a new grad (or maybe you bought cash, who knows). For a mortgage now you need 2 years of taxes, a job with a daily guarantee, 6-12 months reserves, and the downpayment. Get the feeling past generations of dentists never encountered this issue since it was so much easier to get a mortgage even 10-15 years ago.
