Indians could not beat Koreans and Taiwanese because Indian businessmen were busy making 2 billion dollar mansions for themselves instead of investing in R&D( which Koreans/Taiwanese) did to develop quality products. Big business houses were protected for years from foreign competition due to protectionist government policies and they used it to amass personal wealth by forcing Indian consumers to buy trashy products. Even now the products available in Indian market are so poor compared to USA and there is high import duty on quality foreign products.
