How to Tie the FG Fishing Knot- (It’s Not As Hard As You Think!)

With a bit of practise, the FG knot will soon be your favourite way to connect braid to a leader. This sleek and strong fishing knot gets a bad rap as being “too hard” or “taking too long.” The truth is, tying your shoes was once hard, too, until you practised!
Best results come from using a leader that is a different diameter than your main line. The closer they are in diameter, the more difficult it will be to tie because it will require more wraps.
I like to do 14 wraps as a standard. If I’m dealing with very thin line or similar diameter lines, I will increase up to 20. For thicker line, I may go as little as 12, but I wouldn’t go less.
