    thanks for reminding me. I had forgotten about fly I tied last year that was like this but with red thorax. I caught 6 fish on in before losing it and meant to make up some more, which I'm doing now :-)

    Please forgive me, but how is Oholi pronounced?

    • @Oholisfliesandfishing
      @Oholisfliesandfishing  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thanks so much. Oholi is pronounced phonetically. (O as in olive, H as in hat, O as in olive, L and I as in igloo) hope this makes sense. Not sure i explained it well

    This is a quick intro on how to tie a simple Perdigon. I've never tied one before. I'll use your instructions to start tying them in various colors and with various materials. Thanks much.

    What is the largest bead you would use on a 16 hook?

    • @Oholisfliesandfishing
      @Oholisfliesandfishing  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thank you a lot. Well, it would be 4mm but only because i dont use larger. I try to keep it competition legal. I used to compete and one of the rules was 4mm max.

    • @captainkoo
      @captainkoo 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@Oholisfliesandfishing oh I see . Thanks ! I noticed that when I try to use 4 mm beads on a 16, the eye of the hook will often slip through the bead hole ! Appreciate your comments !

      @@captainkoo are u using regular hooks? Use jig hooks. Or better. Jig hooks with 4mm jig off bead

      @@Oholisfliesandfishing I use Hanak 450s I can get a 3.8 to work but the 4.0 and larger slip off It’s ok though because I usually don’t need anything larger than 3.3 -3.8 mm to get down .

    • @Oholisfliesandfishing
      @Oholisfliesandfishing  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      in that case use 3.8. Its probably 4mm. most producers have some diameter tolerance. @@captainkoo

      @@Oholisfliesandfishing I was the sector judge for several America Cup competitions, then for the youth worlds. At the men's world's I was an assistant because I could not miss over a week of work. Check out my videos from the competitions. Antonio Rodriguez from Portugal is a great angler. He won a session on the Blue River using dry flies only which is unheard of!

    what kind of flash do u use...for ur perdigons

    • @Oholisfliesandfishing
      @Oholisfliesandfishing  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Crystal flash or tinsels. I pay more attention to width of it. If too wide it wont lay on underbody flat. It will have bumps and folded sections... Narrow is what i like. Often i use one that i got cheap in tool set from India.

    What size tinsel are you using small or medium

    • @Oholisfliesandfishing
      @Oholisfliesandfishing  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I prefer small and medium because its easier to work with. It will make smooth body... Large can create bumps if underbody is not perfectly flat
