It has been 20+yrs since I did this last, but your excellent video was exactly the refresher needed. Thank you.

Thanks for sharing this! I JUST bought a new door knob and deadbolt for my garage, and then proceeded to lose the keys...😡 so this task is in my immediate future. Thanks again!

I watched several videos that just said you could shove a screwdriver in there to remove the cylinder. THANK YOU for showing those clips that need to be moved. Easy enough with a couple small screwdrivers simulating that tool.

I re-keyed an Atlas door knob the same way. It has the same design as a Kwik-set.

So where do you buy the retainer clip tool? Are you pushing the clips out or pulling them in to release the cylinder?

I have watched several of these videos and all of them use new Knobs. I have found older knobs aren't as easy especially when removing the lockset from the knob. Rust and time makes the removal very difficult. Do you have any tips to make this easier on older lock knobs?

My lock knob won't turn without some slight turning of the door knob... any trick to fixing this?

means the pins are too long when the key is in you all your pins should be untouchable with your finger just by a light amount also make shure all springs are in i used to put the pins too long on accident and had to learn to make them a bit less as high basicly its all about the pins .

I hate those clips at the 2:15 mark of the video. You have to be careful not to shove that tool in too deep. The older designs have little margin to get it right.

It does not work on new locksets. Quickset want you to buy there new (Twice as expensive) Smartkey Knob Locksets

What’s different about the new ones? The Smartkey ones are trivial to rekey, so I don’t think that’s why the non-“smart” ones have changed. Maybe they want all locksmiths to buy a new tool to spring the internal workings out?
